Between Love and Duty, Which Would You Choose?

Out of all the BL I have ever watched, I finally dare call one them of my absolute favorite; and that is, of course, The Edge of Horizon.

This series tells a forbidden love story, whether it's forbidden because of status or because of them loving the same gender. That's one of the things I love about same-sex love stories: They are extra forbidden.

Now, usually I get bored quickly after the main couple gets together, but here, they don't get together long enough for me to get bored; there always has to arise a problem to make them separate once again.

This story has a lot of crying and very little laughing, it's full of tragedy but also growth, and though it made me feel very distressed at times, it was too good for me drop it.

You feel the dilemma of the characters fighting between love and what they believe is right, and you can't blame them for any choice they choose to make.

Inn and Ongsa's acting's are amazing, you can feel every emotion they try to convey. And I'm especially surprised at Ongsa, seeing how incredibly young he is! And though it was probably very hard for them, having to cry so much, they did it very well.

All the characters here have meaning, none of them feel like a background character; they all have their own story.

The main song is sung by the main actor Ongsa himself, and his voice is like honey to the ears, very sweet.

A lot of scenes have very beautiful lighting (The car scene, for example), and the pacing is very understandable and makes you want more.

The streets, the cars, the clothes, all immersed you in that era, and there was no scene that felt too modern.

This series made me want to watch more angsty historical same-sex romance, though there isn't much, really.

I hope the success of this series soars, and everyone who can, will watch it.

I loved it all, the acting, the plot, the music, the cinematography, the directing, everything.

I couldn't help myself so I watched the last episode on the One31 live online channel, but I won't count it until I watch the uncut version.

Please, if you're thinking of watching this, give it a chance, I believe you won't be disappointed.

What I Liked

- there was overacting though I'm sure that was what the director wanted
- the drunk kiss and then the non con kiss after the time jump
- the first long time skip
- comedy sound effects
- the dad and brother should have been the only ones apologizing at the end

Another masterpiece incoming

Starting off the series with good premise and perfect set up. The chemistry amongst the cast is there, meaning that we can see how each character flows in every scenes.
I like Prince Thin is not your usual prince, he's got character, playful and not afraid to speak his minds.
Phob character is also interesting how he carry himself around Thin, we get to see his softer side which is very rare in a BL series when a "top/seme" shows that sides.
Also Pond's acting as a spoiled prince is so good.

Overall this series will makes you hold your pearls when you watching, especially the tense between Thin and Phob, we can see they are trying so hard not to cross the line.

One of the best, if not the best Thai actor Pond Ponlawit Ketprapakorn, a complete failure in this series, a role that is not for him, where there is no acting and his emotions, but the level of a clown in a circus. I just remember "180 degrees..." and his acting in that series, fantastic, and here.....horrible!

A Love That Survives the Fall of a Kingdom

The Edge of Horizon is a beautiful historical melodrama combining palace politics, revolution, social class, and a love that begins in childhood.

At the heart of the story is Phob’s unwavering devotion to Prince Tinnakorn. From the very beginning, Phob has already decided that he belongs to Tinnakorn. His devotion is not passive obedience; even when their political positions change and they are forced onto different paths, his heart never wavers.

Tinnakorn is equally memorable. He is gentle, graceful, and morally strong—a prince who refuses to abandon the person he loves, even when his family, his position, and the entire kingdom stand between them. Phob and Tinnakorn’s chemistry is both sensual and deeply romantic, making even their quietest scenes emotionally powerful.

Inn is especially magnificent as Phob, and his appearance in military uniform is unforgettable. Ongsa gives Tinnakorn a rare purity and vulnerability without making him weak. The costumes, cinematography, music, and classic melodramatic direction all give the series an elegant atmosphere.

The political conflict can be complicated, but the emotional center always remains clear: two people trying to hold on to each other while the world around them changes completely.

I truly loved this series. Availability varies by region, but unfortunately, viewers in Japan can officially watch only the first two full episodes on YouTube; later episodes are available only as highlight clips. I hope the complete series becomes officially available in Japan someday, so more viewers can experience—and talk about—the beautiful love story of the hibiscus flower.
