Your new favourite binge of the day

Rather wholesome and entertaining. This whole thing.

I wish to see more from these actors so I could judge their acting separately from this drama. Because these two molded right into their roles and I had zero doubt about who they were. I would not believe you telling me they are, in fact, not Zen and Ryo in real life.

I did like the story overall, especially when it tried to explore characters' insecurities. But I cannot escape seeing that it was rather superficial and only in service of the relationship. These actors could have done more because they are legitimately good. Which is at the same time the reason why gaps in the story are not blatantly obvious. Like random perturbations to move the plot beyond seven episodes.

But nothing can change the overall impression -- Short and sweet!

Thank you for reading,
RXP

This was probably one of the best Japanese BLs I have ever seen

Overall, I am really sad that this was not 10 episodes, but it was a true joy to watch. I would give it an 8 (7.8) out of 10. And then I am going to say what I liked, what I did not like, and then do an episode overview!

Starting strong with the plot. This was really good by BL standards overall, not just by Japanese BL standards. I thought it was really fun. It was really straightforward, not convoluted or weird, and it filled the episodes perfectly. So, basically, the plot is enemies to lovers, or rivals to lovers technically, but they are also enemies (?), there are levels to this shit. They were high school rivals, and now they are at the same company together, and they are still rivals, but it turns out one of the guys had a crush on the other one the whole time. Then they start dating on a weird whim, and their feelings for each other are pretty unsure. By the halfway point, they are both in love. Then they deal with what many adult relationships deal with: communication issues. For men specifically, or Japanese men in this case, they are either overly communicative or not good at it, and for these two, they were not very good at communicating, and that is where most of their issues arose. Overall, I thought this was really good and a fun and interesting plot.

Another thing I really enjoyed was the actors. Starting off, they were both really sexy, like, oh my God (like, old man sexy too). Not even like, oh, you’re Japanese, and you look like a little boy sex, NAH THEY WERE OLD MEN SEXY. Especially the one with the black hair. He was old and fucking sexy. Anyway, I thought they brought this to life really well, especially with all the emotions, and I think the acting is really good and brings their characters to life. They also had really good chemistry. Even though I felt like it started off kind of awkward, but then we had a sex scene that opened us up to the show, and that basically sold me lmao. They did that so well, and then they just kept delivering in everything.

Regarding criticism and stuff I did not like, I think my main criticism is the whole plot with the guy with the Dora haircut and the pointless micommuncaition that came with it. That felt really irrelevant and came out of nowhere, and I feel like it didn’t really add anything to the plot and took a lot away from our main couple. I think it was trying to show communication issues and stuff in real relationships, but it didn't really have much meaning, and I think they should have gone back to the other thing where they miscommunicated on their own, without the help of a weird third party that was introduced really randomly. Like we gave a halfway background thing on why this guy is here now, and he’s like I am going to ruin your guy’s relationship for the straight love of the game and I am going to have a fuck ass haircut while doing it, like what? So episode 7 and 8 really pissed me off, but other than that, this show was good and not a lot of complaints besides kind of empty episodes (not a lot happening), but looking back at it, it flowed pretty nicely.

Okay, some of my favorite quotes from episodes, let’s go. Episode 1: “WHAT THE FUCK IS HAPPENING? WHO WAS FUCKING AT THE START? WE ARE TOO OLD TO BE ACTING LIKE THIS, I SWEAR. ALSO HOLY JUMP, HEY, WHO CAN LAST LONGER? YALL GAYYY. AND THEY ACTUALLY HAVE CHEMISTRY, WHICH IS SO NICE TO SEE. I AIN ‘T NEVER WATCHING A JAPANESE BL EVER AGAIN. FUCK IQIYI FOR RECOMMENDING ME THIS. 18 MINUTES IN. WHY ARE WE GIVING HIM BACKSHOTS AND WHY ARE WE JUST TAKING IT? LIKE HOW DO WE EVEN MOVE ON FROM THIS? We are just having face-offs for the love of the game bc whatttt????” Episode 3: “Hopefully we get some fucking in and not playing in my fucking face.” Episode 4: “WHY ARE WE PLAYING IN MY FACE? I KNOW YOU LIKE HIM BC U HAVE A BUNCH OF BEAUTIFUL WOMEN IN FRONT OF YOU AND YOU ARE THINKING ABOUT HIS ASSSSS. DONT PMO. AND WHAT DO YOU MEAN WE SHOULD CALL IT OFF, BRO I KNOW YOU LIKE HIM. COMPUTA PLSSSS MAKE THESE GUYS FUCK RIGHT NOW.” Episode 6: “BRUHHH. I LOWKEY LOVE THIS SHOW SO MUCH STOP., THEY ARE SO CUTE. WOULD HAVE BEEN A 10, BUT I HATE MAN CHEEKS IN MY FACE, I SWEAR. ALSO, SOMEONE DEFINITELY CAUGHT THEM KISSING OUTSIDE, BECASUE THAT ANGLE WAS GNARLY. ALSO WHO THE FUCK IS THIS FUCK ASS NIGGA WITH THIS GOOFY AH HAIR AND WHY DO WE NEED 50 DIFF SHOTS OF HIM.” Episode 8: “They pissed on my grave with this episode.” Episode 9: “Also, I love the part that was like in the final couple of minutes where he is in his high school form, and then he looks back, and it switches to him. That was the cutest goddamn thing ever, and that was such a nice touch.”

Overall, I thought this was a fun watch, and I would recommend you check it out. Okay bye!

Fake Fact Lips completely sets the standard for how the rivals-to-lovers trope should be done. The absolute highlight of this series is the electric, sizzling chemistry between Hori Kaito and Sato Yusuke; they make the childish, prideful "first to fall in love loses" bet feel incredibly charged and mature. Every single office argument and private moment is laced with a heavy, undeniable tension that keeps you glued to the screen. Because the 9-episode format moves so quickly, the only real downside is wishing we had more time to dive even deeper into their shifting dynamics and high school flashbacks. It is an absolute, fast-paced masterpiece that leaves a massive impression despite its "short" length.

Two Idiots and One Ridiculous Bet

Ryo and Zen have been competing since high school over absolutely everything, so when they end up working at the same company, their rivalry picks up right where it left off. One drunken conversation later, they somehow decide that turning romance into a competition is a perfectly reasonable life choice.

Spoiler: it is not.

What makes this so fun is that neither of them realises they're already halfway in love before the game even starts. Watching two otherwise competent adults completely fail at understanding their own feelings is surprisingly entertaining.
The chemistry is great, the banter is even better, and for once the romantic progression actually feels natural. Also, thank you to this drama for remembering that adult men are capable of kissing like they actually want to be there.

My only real complaint is the late-arriving love rival, who feels less like a character and more like an obstacle someone forgot to remove from the script.
Overall, Fake Fact Lips is funny, sweet, slightly ridiculous, and very easy to binge. If you enjoy rivals-to-lovers stories, mutual pining, and two stubborn idiots accidentally falling in love while trying to win a competition, this one is definitely worth checking out.

I really loved this drama. It was a short, lighthearted love story that was easy to enjoy from beginning to end. There wasn't any heavy drama or complicated plot—just a sweet romance that gave me butterflies.

The chemistry between the leads was amazing and felt very natural. Ryo especially stood out to me. His facial expressions were so good, whether he was happy, sad, or emotional. Sometimes he reminds me of Ji Sung, but most of the time he looks like Jung Il-woo. He expressed every feeling naturally, and his performance really made my heart flutter.

If you're looking for something light, cute, and heartwarming without too much angst, I definitely recommend this drama. It's a simple but enjoyable watch with lovable characters, great chemistry, and a romance that will leave you smiling.

One of my favorite manga, but I didn't feel the same feeeling while watching. The fake hate relationship were less here (I don't know what make it less love/hate at first??)

The drama was okay, short but don't feel rushed.

I kinda like it tho. It's was good, but I did not enjoy as much as I thought I would.

Two Rivals falling in Love

The premise of the story is simple and adheres to the manga. The actors portray the characters so well and they have great chemistry. The micro expressions, unspoken glances and actions are very good.

It is almost like a slice of life series except about two persons coming together. I am really enjoying it and it’s the top of the heap thus far for BLs this year and that’s saying something as there are so many.

One of the best ongoing JBLs right now!

I'm seriously so obsessed with this series waiting one episode per week feels like torture. Up until episode 2, the dumb premise didn't make me dislike the series because it's actually soo fun. The chemistry between the leads makes this all feel so natural. Their acting is also top notch. I love how we get equal parts spicy, equal parts wholesome and equal parts angst (?). Only downside is the NC scene is not the best, but I will let it slide cuz it's only the first one, and Im expecting better ones in the future. Everything else though!! This drama doesn't have any annoying leads or overally unrealistic characters. (However I would say the stuff leading to the plot is kinda unrealistic lmao) which I love.

Seriously every BL lover should start this show. I cannot recommend this enough.

CANNOT WAIT TO SEE HOW THIS SERIES ENDS!!!

This series is still airing but I am absolutely LOVING it SO MUCH!! EVERYTHING was so well portrayed, even down to the actors that played the younger versions of the main characters. Such phenomenal story telling with depth, chemistry, lighthearted humor, and an over all vibrant and "real" feel to it. Would definitely recommend!! Also, I damn near fell in love with Sato Yusuke so there's that. I can't wait to finish on this journey. :)

Reminds me of similar bet in Bad Buddy, only more grownup, where the rivals see who falls in love first. Very entertaining and addictive. The Acting is superb. Sensitive and heartfelt, but also smart and realistic, so it never seems cloying. . The sentiment is believable because the lead acting is perfect. The music is sophisticated and tuneful. This production is a cut above the usual BL. I can tell it is well written, a good adaptation of a good novel/manga.

Japan...another bl winner.

What makes this office-romance BL so incredibly satisfying to watch is how maturely the main leads handle their relationship dynamic. Instead of relying on the classic, frustrating trope where characters refuse to speak to each other for three episodes over a simple miscommunication, they actually clear things up relatively fast.
Why the Dynamic Works So Well
Healthy Communication: When doubts creep in or a situation looks suspicious, they actually confront it or talk through it rather than running away.
The Office Setting: The workplace backdrop adds a fun, professional-yet-tense energy, making their quick resolutions feel even more rewarding because they have to keep seeing each other.
Low on Unnecessary Drama: It lets the viewers enjoy the actual chemistry, fluff, and romantic progression without pulling their hair out over contrived plot blocks.
It proves that a story can have great tension and high stakes without forcing the couple into endless, exhausting misunderstandings.

Changed my pov of JBL

First of of all I am not a fan of JBL because my all time favourite is Thai bl because they have long duration and give what I want...
Where as JBL always had short duration and don't give that satisfactory scene (I am not talking about nc)
But this drama really changed my thoughts it was really good. It gives you everything you want like cuddle, kiss, compitition, lesson, friendship, motivation etc.
Something different about this drama is that they have the courage to do everything,at last the they tell their friend about their relationship was good..
I am telling you if Japan can make this type of drama I am ready to watch 🫶🏻💛
It is my first time writing a review... it is that good that I had to write it😅 Totally worth it...
