I want to love it. AI Fucks It Up!
Look for all intents and purposes, the show itself is incredible, the actors are doing a fantastic job, and I want nothing more than to just support it, and see it through to the end. However, I can't do that despite absolutely loving the first two episodes; because on episode 3, that's where I was able to finally read the subtitle that disclosed the use of AI. CGI is a wonderful tool, the use of CGI employs humans, it allows artists to continue working. I looked online and there were comments about how it was for on set safety, so I assume they meant it was in regards to the fire scenes, but that is where CGI comes in. There we're also comments saying that it was used for cleanup and enhancements of effects . . . like the eyes and other supernatural things. Again, CGI is a perfect way to go, hell, practical effects are also a perfect way to go when it comes to eye color and transitions. AI is only used for expedition, and as a cheap alternative. It takes jobs away from artists, and is way too casually used in modern media, especially in recent Thai media. It's one thing to have a character mindlessly ask AI how to cheer up their boyfriend (which sucks by itself), but it's a completely different thing to actively be destroying the planet in order to make somebody's eyes turn blue, instead of hiring a real artist and giving somebody a job; all just to save some money.
I'm really disappointed in We TV. While I appreciate the actual disclaimer, considering we don't get those much, I will unfortunately be dropping the series.

Questions what it truly means to sacrifice for love.
If it has vampires (or something close), I’m already half in love with it before we even start. When I read the summary I thought, “This is going to be a new favourite.” The blurb made the story sound interesting — who could pass up a mix of a criminal case, mystical creatures, a curse, and romance? The story was centred on exactly those elements, yet the world-building was lacking and the characters felt underdeveloped. There were several opportunities for action, but those moments fell flat. The romance felt forced and there was zero chemistry (sorry, not sorry). The pair weren’t given enough time for any real tension to build, and the characters weren’t fleshed out enough for me to care about them. Everything felt rushed and underdeveloped. They went from hating each other to lusting after each other in what felt like a matter of minutes. I couldn’t even tell you when the shift happened.
It had so much potential, but the execution is where it suffers. It’s simply not very interesting. There wasn’t anything necessarily wrong with it — the characters were okay, the plot was kind of meh, the romance a little lacklustre — yet I couldn’t pinpoint one particular problem.
Once I realised how uninterested I was, I should have stopped watching, but I kept hoping. I tried really hard, yet this just wasn’t working for me. Have you ever watched something where you didn’t give a flying fuck what happened to any of the characters? That was this show for me. I found the entire series dreadfully long.
If you’re wondering why I didn’t just drop it — it’s because I really wanted to see what would happen to Panin and Rain. Yes, I’m that weak for minor characters who only get five minutes of screen time per episode.
I wanted to love this series so much more than I did. When I closed it today, I actually couldn’t tell you much about it. Nothing stuck with me.

Very Poorly Acted Drama
I noticed quite a few folks saying that this was some kind of new twist on the "vampire theme". I really beg too differ. This had nothing too do with being "vampiric" besides the drinking blood aspect. More importantly as with any drama i watch the story is key with me. And this story was all over the place. I found the pacing was terrible, and the acting wasn't much better. The actors were laughing and joking one minute and then trying too be serious in another scene. It's almost if they were forcing their emotions. That's what i mean by it was all over the place. I watched My Golden Blood which was a good vampire themed drama. In fact, it's probably one of the best out there at least right now. I encourage everyone too give that one a watch. And it was also FAR better acted and had an actual story behind it. However, the ending too "Nour" was done terribly. I was BY FAR more into Chita and the doctor's love story than the main characters. And those two actors could act...!!! I've been watching Asian BL's for the better part of 25yrs now. And this just isn't one i can recommend in good faith. Was this review helpful to you?

Personal not professional review
this is a personal review, which is just purely what I wanted this drama to turn intomy rating is the bad 8.5 not the good 8.5
1. really wanted ken to die peacefully by chita
2. hated how selfish James actually is without realizing it
3. really wanted chita and ji to travel far away together
4. kinda wanted James to suffer, kinda hated him
5. hated that ending, so unrealistic, and it looked like the "you can't just die and leave me, ken" James was actually doing pretty good without ken for a while, and then when he saw him? what a lackluster reaction, it felt like "oh you're back? I was actually doing pretty good alone but glad you're back tho"
6. would've been like a 9.5 for me if all that actually happened
7. chita isn't really a victim in my eyes, the villain here is actually no one, just the most person that could be called a villain if there had to be one called out would be James.
8. their love story was kinda rushed but held on by the investigation and stuff, but the love story alone? so boring and rushed
9. the love triangle drama with peter was so unnecessary it felt like just a filler to make it 10 episodes

NOUR … I Paid $1.99 for Answers!!!
I paid $1.99 for this finale and somehow the writers gave me feelings instead of answers. I was promised a supernatural mystery. I got immortality, murder, trauma, blood, sex, doomed romance and enough emotional damage to ruin my evening. Fine. I accepted all of that. I was invested. I was theorizing. I was ready for the big reveal. And then the finale basically said, “Here are three more questions. Good luck.” EXCUSE BUT FUCK ME?
James is dying, and Ken respect his previous wishes (you’d be stupidity you didn’t see that coming), and James survives somehow. Chita killed James’ father. Ken and James apparently have some deeper connection. Ji and Chita are emotionally destroying me. And what do I actually know?
FUCKING Nothing. I paid TENCENT $1.99 for two episodes and got ripped off.
The worst part is that I can’t even say the series was bad because the acting was good, the chemistry eventually worked and the emotional scenes actually hurt. Boss, Tongtong and Phoom gave me everything. I was laughing, crying, screaming and staring at the screen like I personally had to solve the mythology.
But I shouldn’t need a ouiji board, three red strings and a second degree in Nour history to understand what happpened in the finale. Mystery is supposed to make me curious. This made me feel like the writers forgot to upload the final explanation.
I cared about James and Ken. I cared about Ji and Chita. I cared about Chita’s suspicious limp, Ken’s immortality and every emotionally damaged man making terrible decisions because he was in love.
And this is how you repay me? With vibes? I want my $1.99 back!
Or just give me the missing episodes, the mythology explanation and a PowerPoint presentation titled:
“What the Hell Was Going On in NOUR?” Because I didn’t stop caring. I cared so much that I noticedd the story forgot to answer its own questions.

premise great, plot intriguing, many questions left unanswered
I've encountered enough fantasy stories to understand that a captivating premise alone won't carry a narrative. I got this show recommended to me by a friend initially. Maybe around episode 3 or so. Watched as it aired. It sounded real interesting so I decided to give it a try. And for like the first 8 episodes i was locked in watching as it aired. Suddenly 2 episodes dropped on the same day weird okay? but sure. I guess they had a reason BTS i guess. But yeah, Initially, Nour felt like it had the potential to offer something refreshingly unique. Something that gave me strong vampire vibes but not vampire in a way. Its immortals yes but they arent really vampires they are different in a way they diverge from traditional vampires. As someone who is a sucker for a good supernatural story this was an interesting plotline already there. You had the idea of a character yearning for death falling in love with someone who fiercely wants them to live. Sounds promising right? Well, for me at least it really set the dark ambiance and the enigma surrounding the Nours, it kinda started a good stage for an intriguing beginning, that could if done right lead to something amazing. And for the first 8 episodes or so it really was looking like it could land in my top shows for a bit. Well, yeah that shattered around the twist.
SO as i mentioned I didnt quite land in the way that i think the writers of the show intended it to. BEcause i felt like there were many time during the show where it became increasingly clear that it didn’t fully grasp its own mythology. Like they mentioned one thing in one episode and then in another the opposite happens. It kinda threw me off a bit actually.
The world-building is riddled with inconsistencies and questions. Their, the Nours, superhuman powers seems to fluctuate based on what the plot demands at that moment, rather than adhering to a consistent set of rules. I like rules when it comes to shows and the mythology. It seems like they didnt really have that.
The ending left me with mixed emotions. I have many questions i will most likely never get answered and it feels empty in a way. I will say the resolution for the secondary couple felt satisfying but yeah, while James and Ken's outcome was more troubling. I feel like their part of the story has a bunch of things that i never really got told. I feel like im missing a bunch of info and how they would live the rest of their life. So, this made me feel that it was not the greatest of the bunch when I am looking at it from this POV.
Well, my overall thoughts? I think I would say that Nour isn't a bad series. Its premise is intriguing, the atmosphere is engaging, and the ambition behind it is evident. Very clear what they had thought that they would do. And the NCs of the show are also great. THat can help a story a bit just not to the point where I would have a show rely entirely on it. There are glimpses of the impact this story could have had with more room to explore some of the questions. So, Unfortunately, it never quite realised that potential.
in a sentence i think i would say that this is an intriguing idea that deserved a more assured execution with more time to cook on that ending.

A GREAT STORYLINE, BUT DISAPPOINTING ACTING AND SEVERAL PLOT HOLES
1. The PositivesFirst of all, I have to give *NOUR The Series* credit for having a rather unique storyline. Not many BL series explore the supernatural, investigation, and romance in this particular way. This is one of the main reasons I believe the series had the potential to score much higher if it had been executed more effectively.
The soundtrack is another major strength. The music is genuinely beautiful and used quite effectively, especially during kissing scenes and romantic moments, helping to enhance the emotions of these scenes.
I also appreciate the makeup. This is something I tend to be quite critical of when watching Thai BL series, as overly heavy makeup can make actors look artificial and unnatural. However, *NOUR* does a good job of keeping it subtle and balanced, allowing the actors' appearances to look more natural and harmonious.
I also like how the series gradually reveals new information with each episode, keeping viewers curious instead of explaining everything from the beginning. However, an intriguing storytelling approach does not necessarily mean the script itself is well constructed.
2. The Negatives
Plot Holes and Unanswered Questions
Despite its intriguing premise, the series leaves several details insufficiently explained. For instance, the origin of James's special ability and how he came to possess it are never explored in enough depth. In a series that relies heavily on a supernatural world, the fundamental rules and mechanisms should be explained more clearly to prevent the story from feeling superficial.
#Underdeveloped Supporting Characters and Poorly Handled Storylines
I am not satisfied with how the series develops and resolves the storylines of its supporting characters. Once a character is placed in an important situation, the writers should develop and resolve that storyline properly rather than introducing it only to move on from it too quickly.
Officer Tangmay is a good example. I do not understand why she would choose to go alone when she knew her opponent was an exceptionally powerful and dangerous Nour, only to end up paying for that decision with her life. Her death was not built up convincingly enough to feel believable.
Moreover, Tangmay serves as an emotional link between Ken and James, helping to develop their relationship. For that reason, I believe her character deserved much better development and stronger acting.
#Chita's Hatred Lacks Emotional Depth
Chita's hatred is another aspect that the series fails to explore in sufficient depth. Being transformed into a Nour could have provided a strong foundation for exploring his psychological trauma, but the series does not adequately portray the emotional changes that lead him to seek out and kill other Nours.
I understand why he feels hatred, but understanding a character's motives is not the same as feeling the emotional weight behind them. Because his character development is rather superficial, Chita's actions sometimes come across as abrupt and unconvincing.
# James's Father's Death Is Quickly Forgotten
This should have been a significant event that added psychological depth to James and further motivated his investigation. However, the series handles it rather superficially, failing to fully explore how this tragedy affects his emotions and actions. A storyline with so much potential deserved far more attention.
# Unconvincing Acting Is the Biggest Disappointment
This is ultimately what disappoints me the most. Most of the cast, including both the supporting characters and the main couple, show noticeable limitations in their acting. James, in particular, struggles to convey emotions naturally through both his dialogue delivery and body language, making several scenes that should have been moving fall short of their emotional potential.
When the acting feels unnatural, even kissing scenes and romantic moments become awkward and forced. Some romantic scenes are also inserted at inappropriate moments, such as when the characters are in the middle of an investigation. This disrupts the pacing and undermines the atmosphere of the story.
The cast is certainly attractive, but good looks cannot compensate for weak acting. To me, this is one of the main reasons the series fails to live up to its potential.
3. JIRAT — The True Standout of the Series
If I had to choose the character with the strongest acting performance, I would choose Jirat. Most of his scenes are effective, particularly those that require him to convey deeper emotions.
I especially liked the scene in Episode 5 where Jirat hugs and talks with his biological younger brother. It is a simple moment, yet it manages to evoke genuine emotion through its natural portrayal. Jirat's final scene, when he accepts going to his end in the flames alongside Chita, is also one of the most memorable scenes for me.
His family storyline is particularly well executed. These scenes add depth to his character and make him more relatable without relying on excessive dialogue or overly complicated plot developments.
On the other hand, the third couple feels rather underdeveloped. They are not given enough screen time or memorable moments to leave a lasting impression. Their romantic storyline is not explored to the extent it deserves, which limits the couple's overall appeal.
Overall, Jirat is one of the biggest highlights of *NOUR*. While many scenes fail to evoke the emotions they are intended to, the scenes featuring Jirat tend to be much more effective.
4. Final Thoughts
Overall, *NOUR* has an intriguing storyline, a beautiful soundtrack, and thoughtfully executed makeup. However, its weaknesses in character development, script execution, and especially acting significantly bring down the overall quality of the series.
I genuinely feel disappointed because *NOUR* had the potential to earn a 9/10 if the script had been more carefully developed and the performances had been more natural and convincing.
In short, *NOUR* has a great concept, but its execution does not live up to its potential. The storyline is engaging enough to draw viewers in, yet the unnatural acting and underdeveloped plot points prevent the series from delivering many of the truly memorable moments it could have achieved.
One final thing: despite all its flaws, *NOUR* is still a lot more tolerable than some other series, and at least it was watchable enough to make it all the way to the finale. Unlike certain BL series from GMMTV, where the writing is so unbelievably trash that you have to wonder how anyone could even sit through the whole thing. And honestly, if you've watched those shows without being blinded by fandom loyalty, you already know EXACTLY how much of a fucking dumpster fire they are. Need I say more?

Bittersweet, Dark, but Surprisingly Hopeful Show That Makes You Feel.
I don't know where to begin to talk about this show honestly, partly because there is not much to talk about it. This time, I won't go into detail and give much spoilers because this show deserves to be recognized more.Script-wise there is not much to tell. They tried to kept this fantasy story as realistic as possible which I highly appreciate it. Keeping a story like this realistic takes balls because its dangerous. It needs much to cover, much to tell and much to prove. The scriptwriter(s) did a fantastic job with this. Of course, there were some loose ends in the story, especially with the "police bussiness" stuff but now that I finished this series and seen the whole plot, do those loose ends really mattered or bugs me now ? no. And also, another reason that those plot holes don't matter is that this story has a lot and different things to say that if they tried to cover all of it, it'd drift off from its own main theme and become a huge mess. The story was grim, bittersweet, kinda dark but also hopeful and adoring in a twisted way. It makes you think when you finish watching it, and more importantly; it makes you feel. I highly highly recommend it. It was no way near the tipical Thai BLs. don't know if you can call this a BL even.
Actors were amazing. The four lead and their chemistry literally carried much of this series. This show became another example of when you give actors a chance to act, they really do nail it. It becomes so obvious that when you watch series like this, which actors does it for the money and which actor does it by heart lol.
Production quality was also very good. Especially whoever directed this series (I've heard the scriptwriter also directed it) kudos to them because my god some of the scenes, the way the camera positioned, the angles, the colouring, the audio coices, all of it were so fucking good. like A+ western television kinda good. The sets were good, the props were good, nothing looks out of place. Of course, instead of AI they could've used real CGI artists but ngl that would be asking too much lol.
Overall, I highly recommend everyone to watch this grim, witted story with its exceptional actors.
PS: if you guys wanna talk about this with spoilers, y'all are welcome in the comments we can talk there.

Frustrated and Unsatisfied
I created an account just to vent! This show had so much potential. The concept was great but poorly executed.I was hanging in there until the ep where they were looking for Dr. Ji. Someone close to yal are missing and you're driving leisurely while flirting?? Amping up the romance???
Chita did a lot of bad things e.g. leaving Dr. when he was newly turned but I still liked him. He was tortured and the definition of 'I'll let the world burn for you'. His ending with Dr. Ji was sad. James was selfish and immature from the start. Ken was so broken and all he wanted was peace. James literally could not empathize with him until HE HIMSELF thought he was going to die, then what? gave Ken permission to die too? Be for real James! Ken will be forced to live on in agony again while James gets old and kick the bucket. Selfish!
Plus the plot holes about James's ability, the fact that he could successfully fight a Nour and why was father was killed?
Also, Dr. Ji' family was so close. It made no sense his mom and bro would be fine so soon. I am happy they got a happy ending though.
The police department...he 'kind of 'misses Tangme? So unserious.

A GOOD VAMPIRE BL
After the last few popular vampire BLs, I had given up hope (don't get me STARTED on My Golden Blood) but Nour managed to show what a good supernatural vampire BL can do!! Honestly, I didn't even realize it was a vampire (or vampire adjacent, maybe) show going into it, and the way it is woven into the plot is SO well done! You as a viewer don't know everything for a LONG time, not in a missing plot points way but in a putting together the pieces yourself way. It makes for an excellent story! While I do think we could have gotten a little bit more on some of the characters and the pacing particularly with the main couple romance felt a little off, this show was overall fantastic. If you are also sick of the horrible vampire BLs, this one might be the remedy.Ken is immortal, and hates it. He has attempted to die over and over again, to no avail. Currently, he works as police officer investigating a case that the locals seem to believe was done by a Nour, a mythical humanoid blood thirsty creature. However, Ken knows personally that these creatures are very real. In Ken's attempt to once again find a way to die, he seems to have found a lead - only for new cop James to show up and try to solve the case himself. The two start at odds with each other, but quickly find themselves drawn to each other instead.
I LOVED the Nour plotline, and even really enjoyed the second couple's story. I thought it was super well done. My only complaint is that it felt like Ken and James went from rivals to lovers way too fast. Ken is a very cold, standoffish man who no one has ever been able to get close to, but this breaks down so much faster than I would have expected as he gets close to James. I also thought we would get a little bit more bloodlust, which I would have loved, but it was still a really great romance. I also REALLY enjoyed the way they handled immortality, and the curse of being a Nour. It didn't feel like a stereotypical vampire plot at all, and I really enjoyed that! If you like crime dramas, vampire dramas, or both, this is definitely worth watching!

Star Crossed Losers of the Double Standard
The show started out SO strong, then ferociously stabbed itself in the back.I was glad to see a BL that doesn't constantly make me wonder what I've been missing since the last time I blinked.
Confirming this as one of the very few shows I have actually watched, hook, line and sinker, instead of just skipping through after ep. 3 or so.
The general story arc, pacing and cinematography were pretty dope, particularly compared to most other recent BL where a coherent story is little more than a serving suggestion. It was SO nice to see a story unfold over the entire series, rather than just reel off shitty tropes and scenes in an incoherent cringefest congaline. Even the dialogue felt unironically good for BL. And not a single hyper car in sight. Suffice to say, I was pretty chuffed.
And then they chose to chuck it in the bin...
-Spoiler starts here -
The short version as to why, is this: they chopped Chita and Dr. Ji. One step short of redemption. WTF. I hate the writers guts for this.
They killed off a guy, who by their own definition involuntarily acquired his personality by magical happenstance, and a guy who was eventually just dragged into the whole thing out of love. So yes, even if Chita had wiped out half of Bangkok and Dr. Ji had just watched him do it, I'd still be on their side.
And because the framework of the show works so well, it blinds you over the nonsensical, double standard shitshow it actually is. Really left me with more questions than it answered.
You can stop here or continue with my tl;dr of how they did dirty. It's long, be warned. And it's not even all I have to say about it - this is the short version already - but space here is limited.
Chita
My poor, beloved Chita.
OK, hear me out.
The writers let that character down, only to make killing him easier.
They failed to give Chita ANY justification for setting people on fire, other than absolutely nothing.
I even hoped those Nour blokes were proper criminals, set up by some obscure final boss, killing regular people for breakfast, lunch and dinner. But nah, Zero. Zip. F*ckall.
He lived a happy life with his Nour (!) boyfriend, so he knows coexistence is possible, himself being sweet, caring, soft, sad and alone and my favorite character right off the bat.
And the sodding writers had him go "hullo, it's me, I'm evil now", after he and his BF were attacked by one bastard Nour. No explanation, no development, no justification, no greyscale, just bibbidy, bobbidy, boo, "one day I woke up being this mindless, revenge driven monster, burning everyone to the ground, no questions asked, y'all."
And he must've done that for 50 or so years, too. How did no one stop him or make him reconsider his path since the 70ties, if eliminating vampiric monsters is a societal problem? And to really drive the point home they show him ending the symphony of sympathy: MCs daddy, a priest, pwetty students, silly police lady and a homeless guy. He probably kicked a dog somewhere too, or something. Thanks for the middlefinger, writers.
On top of the Nour making zero sense, even in their own logic, it doesn't really transpire if they are generally nice people or if some of them have adjusted and others haven't. And I'm afraid the creators omitted this intentionally, so the black and white worldview of the average viewer doesn't have to handle too much moral ambiguity. You would have to ask yourself the question of why one of them randomly killed Chita without warning, why freshly Nour-ified, unaccustomed Dr. Ji attacked his family, and how Ken obtained blood 200 years ago, with no refrigerated blood donations available at his convenience, though...
And the double standard REEKS. So the Nour can, or at least could, go kill all willy nilly, throughout centuries, with nobody stopping them, but God forbid there's this one guy who kills a bunch of THEM because unexplained divine intervention. Fingers crossed that white room they went to while dying is Marvel's headquarters. Blade might be hiring.
And then again, Chita doesn't come for Ken, even despite the latter's active death wish. He could've just jumped at him like he did with the other Nour (except for Prae, who he 1000% knew to be a Nour, but didn't take down until she got around to f*ck up Dr. Ji), and who's gonna stop him. So his determination to kill Nour stops at... what? Knowing their names? Changing his mind, or rather losing his involuntarily acquired revenge persona, because of his love for Ji, which definitely puts a massive question mark to his/their fate? No explanation.
Regardless, in the end he starts seeing the error of his ways, finally found the guy who loves him and gets through to him, and... dies. No redemption, no awakening, no eternal life of carrying the burden of his "mistakes", no healing, no learning to live and love and use his ability to protect.
The actors performance was outstanding. Thank you so much, Sweetie.
Dr. Ji
My poor, beloved Dr. Ji.
Another favorite character right away, he too fell victim to the vicious writers club, who essentially decided that misery loves... well, more misery.
Dr. Ji is a good guy and he deserved the second chance at love, and all the happiness in the world. And guess what: he is arbitrarily killed (sad), but revived for eternity by, and to be with, his lover (yay), only so shit can REALLY hit the fan again (WTF).
Like with Chita there is no two ways about him knowing that a peaceful life as Nour is possible, provided a fridge full of blood donations, what with him being aware of Ken's true identity and working beside him for years.
Yet he can't even take it for a couple days, resulting in overdramatic depart from his family, whom he could've lived with apparently, saving Chita multiple times (!), just to tell him to die anyways, and then dying himself with him. But they didn't forget to shove in a quick and dirty excuse, like magically slitting James open... (who started it, btw. Just saying...)
The actor once again awestruck me with his performance. Thank you so much, Bro.
The white room montage of them while going up in flames and that radio announcement in the end - WTF was this supposed to be? A half arsed apology to the audience for chopping them? And why is one of them a TikTok video and the other one looks like they've initially wanted them to be alive? Then decided to trash it and refrain from thinking of a better way to resolve the ambivalent characters' dilemma, so they went with the cop out of going to a "parallel universe" or "dream"? Oh, those writers... just sod'em all...
There is ALWAYS, without fail, a better way than death in fiction, and killing the side couple in BL/romance is a serious No-No.
And here it is again, the double standard.
How amazing would it have been to have Ji and Chita live and learn. But no, they have been through shit and get the axe on top of that, although they had the utmost potential for redemption, learning, healing and growing. Meanwhile static cardboard characters Ken and James gawk at a bloody rainbow, teaching each other to be "human", as if it were new to them, one being 200 years old and the other being... well, human. WTF.
Ken and James
Actors were both cute and amazing. Want to make that clear from the start.
My concern for the characters however, got lost at lightning speed. They ended up so bland that, after Chita and Ji entered the stage, I didn't give a dingo's kidneys about them...
They reduced Ken to some emo boy, moping around for forever about his own inability to cope with the peaceful, natural death of his lover... which ought to have happened a few times already? Given he's 200 years old? Go get therapy, mate.
But alas, he yearns to die and... well, good news! There's a way of killing a Nour... which Ken himself teaches James. Er. Yeah. And then also his only way to die is Chita setting him on fire? Yet Ken spoils his chance of becoming a torch by keeping his identity as Nour hidden? He's kinda jeopardizing himself here, isn't he? And why does Ken put everyone at risk by not teaching them about the Nour? Silly police lady in Chitas bath tub would've benefitted, for instance...
And alas, James... oh what a bland and ignorant, run off the mill character. James is the textbook definition of the "they killed me daddy (mommy, brother, sister, lover, doggo...) I needs revenge", flat, disgusting, immature, selfish and self righteous prick MC, whining about his day, and, for all that it's worth, he can jump off a cliff.
Did he even know his dad was a Nour? Was it ever confirmed (to him) that Chita actually killed his dad? If so, did he ever ask him why? For all I know it's more of a conclusion he jumps to, but doesn't actually prove or investigate? I mean, losing daddy's bad n'all, and I give him all the credit for trying to find the culprit, sure, but noone ever cared to shine a greater light on this very important plot driver.
Either way, James is not less revenge driven than Chita. Only HIS revenge was fully aware and intentional and based on assumption from his perspective at least, while Chitas was something he acquired involuntarily, as a character trait, while being (not quite) killed. And I believe that Chitas background story did not even reach his ears, so James is not an ounce better for trying to kill him, before even learning. The writers simply refuse to tell you all this, so you can stay at ease with that dull character.
He followed Chita and Ji, multiple times, just to kill them. As if that brought daddy back... And when he was finally taken out and they could've fled, five minutes short of enlightenment/redemption, they conveniently ignite themselves for ass pull reasons instead, so the dumb a*sehole doesn't even have to get his hands dirty.
In the end I just wanted to punch his stupid self righteous face, very, very hard :)
