Season 2 Is Finally Here! From Mafia Life to Married Life, It Was Worth the Wait!

Exactly one year ago, we were introduced to The Journey to Killing You, and now, one year later, we finally have Season 2! I absolutely loved Season 1, so you can imagine how excited I was when I heard we were getting a continuation. After watching Episode 1, I am already hooked! What a fantastic way to continue the story, and honestly, this is exactly what I wanted from a second season.

If you remember the ending of Season 1, Kataoka and Odajima were planning to leave their dangerous mafia lives behind and open a bar together. Well, Season 2 picks up from there, and they actually did it! They are now living peacefully in Okinawa, running their little bar and enjoying their new life together.

There is just one tiny problem. Their bar literally has no customers!

I could not stop laughing! After everything these two went through in Season 1, seeing them struggling to attract even a single customer was hilarious. But honestly, who cares about the business when they finally get to live together happily, away from the violence and danger of the mafia world?

And can we please talk about their chemistry?

That riding sex scene was so hot and intimate! Their kissing scenes were just as beautiful, and I absolutely loved how comfortable and natural they were with each other. They genuinely behave like a married couple who have been together for years. The affection, the physical intimacy and the way they interact feel so believable. And yes, they are married! Let us not forget that!

One of my favourite moments was when Kataoka saw a couple getting married on the beach and casually asked Odajima what kind of wedding he would want, since they were already married but never had an actual ceremony.

I absolutely love Kataoka's personality! His sense of humour, his cheeky comments and the way he constantly teases his wife have not changed one bit since Season 1. Even after everything they have experienced together, Kataoka still finds every opportunity to tease Odajima, and I am loving every moment of it.

Honestly, I would love to see these two have a proper wedding ceremony. Can you imagine how beautiful that would be?

Another thing I really appreciated about Episode 1 was the flashbacks to Season 1. Seeing those familiar moments again brought back so many memories of their journey together. It reminded me of how much they have been through, how their relationship developed and how far they have come as a couple.

However, despite their peaceful new life, Odajima is still haunted by his past. He continues to have nightmares about his parents dying, which shows that even though he has escaped the mafia world physically, the emotional scars are still there. I thought this was an important detail because it reminds us that their past has not simply disappeared.

And of course, we all knew their peaceful life was probably too good to last!

When Odajima receives a phone call connected to their former mafia life, he decides to hide it from Kataoka. You can clearly see that he is trying to protect the man he loves. He wants Kataoka to remain happy and safe, far away from the dangerous world they worked so hard to escape.

But little does he know, keeping secrets is not going to be that simple!

I already have a feeling their peaceful life in Okinawa is about to be turned upside down, and I am both excited and nervous to see what happens next. After everything these two have survived, I just want them to be happy together!

What I love most about this first episode is that it genuinely feels like a continuation of Season 1 rather than an entirely different drama. We still have the same characters we fell in love with, the same playful relationship, the same incredible chemistry and that familiar mixture of romance, humour and danger.

The acting remains excellent, and the intimacy between Kataoka and Odajima feels even more natural now that they are living together as husbands. I especially love how their relationship has matured while their personalities have remained exactly the same.

Overall, Episode 1 was amazing!

We got everything I was hoping for: our favourite married couple living together, hilarious moments at their empty bar, passionate kisses, a seriously hot intimate scene, beautiful memories from Season 1 and just enough suspense to remind us that their mafia past is never too far behind.

If you loved Season 1 as much as I did, then Season 2 is already off to a fantastic start! Our favourite husbands are back, their chemistry is hotter than ever, and I am so ready for the next chapter of their love story.

Exactly one year later, and I have fallen in love with Kataoka and Odajima all over again!

I cannot wait for Episode 2!

The odd couple is back!!!

They’re back! Gangster BL is almost a contradiction in terms. Most rely on violence, machochism, and romantic chemistry to compensate for an impossible situation. Yet The Journey to Killing You defied that formula by placing its two unlikely lovers, Kataoka and Odajima, at the center of its narrative.

Both are Yakuza, yet their personalities could hardly be more different. Odajima is the embodiment of restraint, an almost impenetrable emotional fortress, while Kataoka possesses a dangerously unpredictable, almost psychotic charm. The quintessential yin and yang, and their chemistry is undeniably magnetic.

Though short eoisodes, the series succeeds because its emotional tension is far more compelling than its criminal backdrop.

The very world they struggled to escape is like a black hole(no pun intended) that keeps pulling them back, must be gravity. But perhaps the greater question isn’t whether they can survive the violence…it’s whether their relationship can exist without it.

Let’s see how this story goes and I’ll leave the rest of my review after the series is over…for now let’s enjoy the joys of sex in the car…

Long-awaited continuation of a great series

I've been waiting for it, and it's finally here, so far so good, and I'm really excited to see more. I was surprised to see that we are getting season 2 since the first one ended pretty much perfect—nothing to add. Still, I was happy to see the main leads again, even if it's for just a few episodes.
I wasn't expecting to see Matsumoto Hiroki here, but it was a good surprise for sure.

You can watch it on GagaOOLala: https://www.gagaoolala.com/en/videos/9351/the-journey-to-killing-you-2025-s02e01

Things I liked:
1. Second season picks up pretty much right where the first ended. It is so smooth that, honestly, both seasons can just be one.
2. Seeing main leads happy together. I can't explain it, but after everything they've been through just seeing them happy makes me happy.
3. OST. I am honestly happy they left the one from the first season since it is incredible in my opinion.
4. Fantastic acting.

Things I disliked:
Nothing so far.

First Impression: Journey to Killing You season 2

Overall: I'm hoping we don't fall into the normal season 2 cliches, episode 1 was very proming. 6 episodes about 28 minutes each. Airing on GagaOOLala https://www.gagaoolala.com/en/videos/9351/the-journey-to-killing-you-2025-s02e01

Content Warnings: there are major ones in episode 1, I'm keeping this spoiler free for now

What I Liked
- a short recap of season 1
- dynamic (and that their personalities are the same as in season 1)
- a mafia that acts like a mafia (i.e. not comedic)
