Super Cute Adaptation
This is my first time watching a Japanese adaptation of Thai written work (it’s usually the other way around). I know this is not a remake of the original series, but it is hard not to compare it with the Thai version. Although I liked both, I really enjoyed the Japanese adaptation more. This part is about the series as a standalone without any comparison to the Thai adaptation of the novel. This was a very cute and enjoyable series. The script had the right amount of drama and quirky humor that I love in Japanese BL series. The cast was great and did an incredible job with their characters. It had super cute graphics throughout and the cinematography was stunning. This also has fun behind-the-scenes pictures and footage during the closing credits. There were only two negative aspects for me. The first one is the amount of flashback scenes. Considering the number of episodes, they could have used their screen time more wisely. The other negative aspect is they really didn’t finish up one aspect of a conflict scenario. It was completely dropped without any resolution.
This part is comparing the Thai adaptation. Again, I know this is not a remake but I would be lying if I didn’t compare both. My main concern was how were they going to adapt this with the time and episode restraints. I was very pleasantly surprise that they did a great job keeping the essence of the story. With the exception of my complaint above, they did a good job trimming out unneeded information and characters. I like that this was not an exact carbon copy. Although both scripts are very similar, I thought the changes they made were good and just enough to make it their own. I also think the changes helped with the story and character progression. I also like how the character Hinata (Teerak in the Thai series) was written. This series managed to portray the innocence of the character without making him act childish.
Random Note:
There is a very charming, but random, cameo from the main leads of the Thai version of the series in episode 7.

Your Sky without the boredom but also without it's charm
I'm watching this after I watched the thai version so my review will be from this pov. For me, the thai version was kinda boring in some places where it went extremely slow with loads of fillers so when I watched this one I really loved it cz it was paced better. All the fillers were removed and the story was kept intact. It being 30 min ep also helped. But as the story progressed I just started missing the charm the thai version had in it, the extremely energetic theerak, the downbad Fah, Teerak's adorable family, the side couple's story they were all missing. The show was good but there's nothing I will miss about it or remember unlike the thai version where i can never forget FahTeetak❤️ although the show did bore me quite a bit. Also after sometime the story kinda diverts from the thai version probably to cater to the Japanese audience . But yeah pretty decent adaptation. The actors did a good job.

This series is undercooked and bland
I’m usually a big fan of Japanese BL because of its creative writing and its ability to say so much with very little. But when you adapt a much longer Thai BL and reduce the running time by more than half, something is inevitably going to get lost. By Episode 7, I think I know what got lost here…the emotional connection. The leads are handsome and individually they seem perfectly suited for their roles, but together I just don’t feel that chemistry. When they look at each other, I want to feel that little spark…the hesitation, longing, awkwardness, something. Instead, I’m watching two actors playing a romance rather than two characters slowly realizing they’ve fallen for each other. I’ve seen plenty of straight actors play gay roles so convincingly that one glance can say more than an entire scene. Here, those looks just aren’t speaking to me.
And strangely, despite being a much shorter adaptation, the middle still dragged. The endless flashbacks certainly didn’t help. Enough already! When you’ve cut the original story this drastically, every minute becomes precious. I don’t need another reminder of something I watched twenty minutes ago…I need those minutes developing the characters and relationships happening now.
Which brings me to the biggest question after Episode 7: how are they possibly going to fit everybody else in?
There are other characters with relationships that are only beginning to bud, yet they’re treated like side dishes at a Korean BBQ…a little banchan here, another little taste there, and just when I’m interested, someone takes the plate away. These relationships need time to simmer too. If you’re going to keep them from the Thai original, then give them enough room to matter. Otherwise, why put them on the table at all?
I love a good push-and-pull romance. The uncertainty is half the fun. But Your Sky: Hare nochi Koi has felt less like push-and-pull and more like push…and keep pushing away. Seven episodes in, I should be aching for Sora and Hinata to finally get together. Instead, I’m still waiting for their romance to convince me that they should.
Then we have an antagonist whose behavior has been pushed into such ridiculous territory that instead of creating tension, he simply irritates me. A good antagonist should make me fear what he might do next. This one makes me wonder why everyone around him hasn’t figured out how stupid his behavior is already.
And yes…I appreciated Thomas and Kong appearing for their little 15-second cameo at the end. Cute. A nice wink to those of us who know and enjoyed the Thai version. But let’s be serious…Thomas and Kong showing up for 15 seconds isn’t going to save this sinking boat.
The ingredients for a wonderful Japanese BL are all here…fake dating, friendship turning into love, jealousy, side couples, family, handsome leads and that delicious push-and-pull. The problem is we’re already at Episode 7 and there are still too many ingredients sitting on the kitchen counter. Someone needs to start cooking or get the hell out of the kitchen.

Acting and storytelling
The first episode of "Your Sky" was interesting, but honestly, Hikaru’s performance as Oji was what really made me want to keep watching.I was watching most of the other parts of the series at 2x speed, but whenever Oji appeared, I would slow down and sometimes even replay his scenes several times. There was something genuinely addictive about Hikaru’s performance. He made every scene more entertaining and exciting just by being there.
Even though Oji was a negative character and some of his actions made me think, “Why would you do that?!” I still couldn’t help being drawn to him. Hikaru played him in a way that made the character incredibly fun to watch, despite everything he did.
Honestly, for me, Hikaru’s performance as Oji was the most entertaining and exciting part of the series. The rest of it felt quite slow and, at times, boring. But whenever Oji appeared, the whole show suddenly became much more interesting.
Hikaru’s acting was definitely one of the main reasons I continued watching "Your Sky".

can start at episode 5
Overall: there wasn't anything terrible, but nothing drew me in either. I suggest starting at episode 5 if you're not hooked in the first episode. I watched the Thai Your Sky series, but am reviewing this series based on its own merits. 9 episodes about 25 minutes each. Aired on GagaOOLala https://www.gagaoolala.com/en/videos/8455/your-sky-hare-nochi-koi-2026 (not in Thailand, Japan, Taiwan, Korea) and TVer (Japan).Content Warnings: drugging?, non con touching, punches, dub/non con kisses, homophobia
Watch Suggestions (to focus more on their sweet relationship moments)
- watch episode 5
- episode 6 watch 16:15-19:30
- start episode 7 at 9 minutes
- start episode 8 at 7 minutes
- episode 9 watch 16-end
What I Liked
- easy to understand premise
- visuals
- his family (except for the dad towards the end who annoyed me)
Room For Improvement
- the pacing was slow, you could start at episode 5, watch the montage and be up to speed on their relationship
- love rivals (at least she was fine once everything was clearly explained)
- the low affect made chemistry difficult

A nice remake
Another remake of a Thai BL, this time it had improvements, but it also lacked in some points.I thought the little cameo appearance of Thomas and Kong was fun.
It was a shame the runtime was shorter, i missed a lot of the original story. They cut a lot of the screen time of the second and third couple and that really was a shame. For me those two couples were the highlights in the Thai drama. |
The visuals, cinematography and music were good.
The actors all did a good job. I liked it that Hinata was kind and innocent and not childish like Teerak in the Thai version.
The actor who played Sora was also an improvement, his acting was less stiff that that of Thomas.
Hinata and Sora didn't have much chemistry and their kisses and NC scene were ok, but not great.
I loved the chemistry between Mikoto and Yu and their kisses were great!

Cute!
But somehow. I was left on a cliffhanger! hahahaha. You're so cute, Ayuta!!!!!The story though be similar to Your Sky Thailand (hence, adaptation). It is still good, it is still cute, and it had some revisions of events and other details. They two as well, have some charisma. And they two are doing well! Please release Ep3 immediately, joke! Again, I was left in a cliffhanger. But hey, the acting is cute, and so is the ending part, they look cute there (No spoilers). Especially the... no spoilers. hahahahaha.

These overly-cliche romances were never for me, but I wanted to give it a try, anyways.Perhaps I was expecting something better than the Thai original considering I'd dropped the aforementioned, however, the Japanese remake manages to be just as painfully cringey, in my opinion.
Fukuda Ayuta's acting was somewhat believable and not too hard on the eyes, but Aihara Isshin's was really, really painful. Painful in the sense that there was no expressions on his face (I got war flashbacks of Eunwoo's 'tsundere' characters, so) and there was barely any disparity within his limited range to sell the concept of Sora being down bad for Hinata. Most viewers would want to be convinced by the LI's character enough to want to vouch for them, and I couldn't find it in myself to do that at all.
Vasayegh Hikaru definitely did his job as the only opp of the story (with more variance in his expressions and personality despite them being overly exaggerated in many places), though the encounters between Oji and Sora weren't as fulfilling as I personally wanted them to be. The other side characters are barely given a role beyond eagerly following up on the main characters' developing love story, and the progression of Da On and Riku's relationship was way too abrupt to be enjoyable. If anything, I probably liked Makoto and Yu's relationship the most (though that 'drunken' kiss was incredibly uncomfortable both visually and as a plot point).
Overall, a super difficult watch.

Cringe, cute, and somehow still watchable
As an adaptation, and as someone who has watched the original Thai version, you can’t help but to compare the two. Just like the Thai version, this remake has Hinata, a university student who loves to baby-talk. Let’s focus on him first because I actually adore this character. However, after a few more EPs, that charm started to fade away.Anyway, this version has a packed cast full of great visuals and actors who delivered decent performances, although I think they could have done even better. It was honestly the best decision to have Isshin play the role of Thomas because the two of them are equally HOT!
One of the things I liked most about this remake was its almost fast-paced approach to the story. With nine episodes running at around 24 minutes each, it was easy to get through the entire series without feeling exhausted. The catchy OST also worked really well and added to the overall experience.
The ending did pretty well too. Seeing Ishin with his exposed, half-naked body and those intimate yet soft kisses he shared with Ayuta was definitely one of the best scenes to close the series. The story was a meh, but once again, the actors somehow managed to save the show from being dropped. I liked it but it is obviously a below average series for me.

First impression
I loved how different the editing is from your regular jbls. Both the opening song and theme song are great.I also loved the character introduction which we usually dont see in jbls so this felt like a breath of fresh air.
I have been following Ayuta since his role in School Trip and he totally nailed the Hinata role. We didn't get to see thebside characters that much in Ep1 but I have a good feeling about this series.

Your Sky: Hare no Chi Koi é o típico BL sessão da tarde.
Você senta, aceita a premissa digna de fanfic do Wattpad, assiste Sora passar episódios olhando para Hinata como se estivesse há três dias sem comer e termina com o coração quentinho.
Às vezes é só isso que eu quero. E está ótimo assim.
