Song Ji Hyo's role is magnificent and she does a great job of portraying her character well!

Started of great until it eventually faded
First of all I seriously don't understand why is there a movie series for Whispering Corridors. So far this is the 3rd movie and it still doesn't make sense. Pardon me if I don't get this kind of movie, I might be ignorant about this type of movies so it confuses the hell out of me.The way the story is introduced is clear - how they have shown the relationship between the leads, what caused the conflict. Up until there I was able to follow and even find it interesting. But after that I just totally get lost. I understand that there will be some sort of revenge but I totally didn't understand why was it executed that way. I didn't get the logic at all as to why this person become involved, why was she doing it, why are things happening, what am I watching? I was hoping it will get clearer towards the end but just like the precedent movies, it just confused me more.
I was happy though to see Song JiHyo's debut movie though. I understand how eye-catching she is in this movie. I am a big Song JiHyo fan and she's the only reason why I started watching the Whispering Corridors movies. Story-wise I still don't get why it's one of the longest running movie series but I am hopeful that it will get better on the next movies.
I personally didn't like it but if you loved the first 2 Whispering Corridors movies or you liked this type of supernatural horror thriller, this might be for you. Also, if you love JiHyo Eonnie like I do, please watch this. She's so cute and lovely on this movie.

Not Scary! A STORY OF COMPETITION, JEALOUSY, FRIENDSHIP n OBSESSIVE LOVE!!
After watching the first three movies, I'm convinced that this Franchise is more of Psychological Horror. They are sad stories with Human Emotions Dominating, while Supernatural, Ghost Elements are just side tracks to attract horror genre lovers π€¦π»ββοΈπ
(Also Only the last 30-40 mins is the interesting part n need to bear the first one hour chaos! ππ€¦π»ββοΈπ)
I remember watching few of these in my younger years n all these years, had an impression that they are Scary Horrors, Silly Me! π€
But now as an adult, re-watched n I don't find any scary horror element in thisπ.
The human emotions n the reasons why Living turn Ghosts are the Actual Scary Elements!! π
****
Like the first two movies in this franchise, even here, First 1 hour is spent on forming the base n background to the horror part of the story.
The last 40 minutes is where the horror part starts n that is the only interesting part in the movieπ€·π»ββοΈ
Though unrelated, the first two movies have a bit of confusing n chaotic editing and direction, Clearly this movie is different from those two in those aspects, which is a positive point for this movie.
The plot is Good.
Direction is different n Good.
Editing is Good but a bit confusing at times.
The execution of this plot, the story telling / narration is straight forward (chronological) n direct to the point, unlike the first two movies that go back n forth between the past n present (Non Linear Narration)
Not a Scary horror!
Wishing stairs track in the movie, is very well done.
Liked the supernatural mystery of it - 29th step appears only if ur wish is strong n if appears, ur wish will come true ππ»
More than the Haunting of the Ghost, I find this theme of Wishing stairs, that thought of 29th step itself, as more scary π ππ»
**** The story / Characters:
High school girls, Gal besties but one loves beyond friendship, while the other doesn't deny or accept openly. So, this is an implied love relationship π€·π»ββοΈ
Anyways, it's clear that they are atleast close buddies ππ»
These two main lead actresses acted well ππ»
There is another character (3rd gal), who is a secret admirer of one of the main leads.
(So it's a love triangle? π€)
Her role gives unclear impressions:
She is bullied by her classmates, have her own issues like weight troubles etc n she acts very hyper all the time.
So, Is she Hyper bcz of the bullying or her personal issues or it's her usual nature? π€·π»ββοΈ
Also It's unclear whether her character has any mental issues or just over exaggerated acting by the actress to express sad when bullied n shy when she confronts her crushπ€·π»ββοΈπ€¦π»ββοΈ
This makes me think that she (3rd gal) is more weird n scary than the ghostππ€¦π»ββοΈ
At some point, looked like a psycho obsessive lover killings (3rd gal) than a possessed person killings (3rd gal being possessed by her crush, the Ghost) π
(later in the story, it's made clear that it's the second oneπ€·π»ββοΈ)
***
There are few unclear points.
For eg, What's with the glass pieces in ballet shoes, who n why they did is not clear ( unclear bcz of bad lighting/cinematography or bad print?ππ€¦π»ββοΈ)
****
Overall, THIS IS A STORY OF COMPETITION, JEALOUSY, FRIENDSHIP n OBSESSIVE LOVE!
There is no suspense or scary part in this, like in usual horror movies.
Even the bgm didn't bring the horror effect (like in the first movie) π€·π»ββοΈ
The Haunting scenes doesn't give much horror vibe.
Instead IT'S A SAD STORY OF THE GIRLS! π
THE CLIMAX IS GOOD, THE HORROR CONTINUES!!
****
My Rating is 6 / 10
(For the good plot, for the sad story of the gals n their acting n for the direct linear narration, unlike the first two moviesππ»)
Would have been More, if the First One Hour of the movie would have Utilised Better

Wishing Stairs tells a story of two best friends, Jin Sung and So Hee, and the rivalry born between them because of the upcoming competition. The movie effectively made me question if the events presented to me have any supernatural origin or are the result of the feelings of guilt in Jin Sung and obsession Hye ju displayed towards So Hee. Sadly, the director and writer straightforwardly answered said question by the end of the movie, instead of leaving me, as a viewer, with the possibility of self interpretation.
The structure of the story is simple and extremely easy to follow. The linear storytelling without countless flashbacks to the past events makes it a good, digestible horror flick that does not require much brain power to understand.
The performance from the main cast and the production value were truly good. The director knew the limits of what she could achieve in that time, and did not overuse cheap and not well made CGI or special effects for jump scares.
Overall, I would recommend it if someone wants to watch a fun, simple story that answers all the questions and truly guides you through the plot and events happening.
