I finally finished Whispering Corridors 3: Wishing Stairs, and honestly… I wasn’t really sure what to think about the movie. 😭
I still found the story really interesting, especially the idea of the 28 stairs and the 29th stair appearing when someone makes a wish. I really liked the concept of the staircase and the way wishes can come with unexpected consequences.
I also think the movie shows something important. Jin-Sung kept so many things inside: her jealousy, her frustrations, her fears, and everything she was feeling about the competition. Instead of simply going to Soe-hee and talking to her about the audition, she allowed all those emotions to build up.
And honestly, I think that if Jin-Sung had simply gone to Soe-hee and asked her directly about the audition, Soe-hee probably would have given her the spot. I genuinely think she would have accepted, especially because she cared so much about Jin-Sung. Obviously, I can’t know that for sure, but considering their relationship and everything Soe-hee said to her, that’s really how I interpreted it.
I also think that’s something quite realistic. Sometimes, when you keep too many things inside instead of simply asking or talking to the person involved, eventually everything explodes. And that’s exactly what I feel happened with Jin-Sung. She let her jealousy and frustration take over when a simple conversation with Soe-hee might have completely changed the situation.
I also spent a lot of time thinking about how the spirit behind the stairs actually works. Personally, I don’t necessarily think the spirit simply “twists” wishes. I have a theory that it amplifies the emotions and intentions that exist when the wish is made. If the wish comes from a positive or calm state of mind, the result might be more straightforward. But if the wish comes from jealousy, anger, desperation, or another very strong emotion, then the spirit amplifies that part too.
That’s why I don’t think Jin-Sung’s wish was simply “misinterpreted.” Her desire and all the jealousy she was feeling at that moment may have been amplified by the power of the stairs.
And after finishing the movie, I came up with another completely crazy theory. 😂 What if climbing the 29 stairs allows you to make a wish, but going back down the stairs while counting 29 steps in the opposite direction could somehow cancel the wish or reverse it? Maybe there could even be another supernatural entity at the other end, something that represents the opposite of the fox spirit associated with the stairs. I even thought about a dragon, which could symbolically represent something more protective or benevolent. 🐉🦊
Obviously, none of this is confirmed by the movie. It’s just a theory I came up with. 😂 But I think it would have been really interesting if there were some kind of opposite rule: climb to receive something, descend to take it back or undo the wish.
In the end, I gave the movie a 7/10, which is actually the same rating I saw displayed for the movie before I watched it. 😂 I genuinely didn’t know what rating to give it, so 7/10 felt pretty accurate to my overall feeling.
I liked the concept, the atmosphere, the supernatural elements, and especially all the questions the movie leaves you with. It’s probably not a movie I would call amazing, but it definitely made me think and come up with way more theories than I expected. 😭
And honestly, the biggest thing I took away from it is this: talk to the people involved instead of keeping everything inside until it eventually explodes. Because honestly… if Jin-Sung had simply gone to Soe-hee and asked her about the audition, I genuinely think things could have been completely different.
