A very, VERY pleasant surprise. Don’t miss it!

Outrageously over the top…but with a twist…and hugely funny, and entertaining. The leads are perfect together and the sentiments expressed are old-fashioned warm and fuzzy. If you want reality, don’t visit here. It’s a fantasy rom-com that does not show its age and I was very happy to have discovered it by chance.

AKA: Fated to Love You (can we agree on the name for this Korean version please?)

With all the visuals of the "generation 2 idols" it's gonna look different - even though the year is 2014. But this drama has a lot of heart. And from the very start, we meet some familiar characters: the young choenoble who needs to marry and help safeguard the future of a conglomerate and a happy, sweet but not smart poor girl who everyone takes for granted. Here ends the often seen roles of many kdramas. For you have now met two very well written and enduring characters that will deliver one of the best stories to warm your heart and become your imaginary friends.

Fated To Love You is often referred to but has never garnered the kind of hype many other (undeserving) dramas have. Yes there will be a lot of meddling, misunderstanding and missed opportunities. But everyone you meet will grow on you. And you will come to love them like your own family (foibles and all).

The story is fun and remains quite humorous throughout. But that doesn't mean your heart won't ache or break as time goes by. Everyone important to you will develop and grow but will they ultimately make the right choices. Why not watch and become friends with these characters? I am glad I did. I never thought I'd meet such likably sweet and wonderfully sincere characters outside "the classics" in literature.

Definitely 10 stars!!

a must-watch drama!

talk about chemistry!!! this show honestly captured me the second i started watching. idk if it was because i was eating my dinner, or my adhd brain was like "this is so crazy, i love it" but i could not take my eyes away!! i watched the full 20 episodes in 24 hours (stayed up until 8 am, got 4 hours of sleep, and continued watching) and i don't regret it at all.

the characters, mm mm mmmh! yes, lee gun is a bit annoying, yet there is this weird charm to it, where u can't help but fall in love with his quirks. and kim miyong is to die for. she is absolutely gorgeous and a girl who is too kind for her own good. i really didn't mind the fact she was a bit helpless, because it totally made sense as to why! and by the end, she had this amazing character arc that i was rooting for her the entire time. i just wanted to protect her from everything and i 100% understand why gun fell for her, as i did too~ and the romance... it has your heart racing, gripping your toes just from how amazing it is. i literally started crying by the 7th episode over how much i loved the show, it filled my heart up so much and i looked forward to every scene between gun and miyoung to witness cute moments. and these actors can ACT! no wonder they were casted in so many dramas together, their love felt so real.

and the side characters: silly, cute, and a bit annoying (yes i'm looking at YOU, sera) but i enjoyed them a lot, especially the secretary and lee yong. my man choi jinhyuk (daniel's actor) and i have a lot of history, so imagine my surprise after i just finished watching heirs, to see him in this show, i died of laughter. i did get a little bit bored with the whole sister side plot, but i didn't mind it enough that i felt like it ruined the show for me, noo. just a bit of a nuisance.

but this is a romcom with a LOT of angst though. the middle of the show had me crying so hard that i literally had to pause the show and sob for 30 minutes. you will get so attached to these characters and feel exactly what they feel. i don't know if the ending 100% pays off for the amount of sorrow i went through, but it was a sweet ending nonetheless.

my only complaint is the fact the entire pregnancy plot gets dropped halfway through the drama. i get it, she lost her child and it was the turning point of the show, yet i really really wish it didn't take that turn. i wanted to watch a show that followed this unlikely couple going through pregnancy and then raising a child, so i was a bit disappointed it didn't happen. like imagine the cuteness overload we could've gotten as miyoung neared giving birth and how overprotective gun would've been!! but, it still was a great drama even with this little problem i had. (btw if any dramas are similar to what i described plz recommend some!)

but other than that, this is a drama i'll remember for a lifetime, i don't think ill ever be able to move on from my gun and miyoung, and how much i wish i could find the romance they did (minus the pregnancy, thank u very much)!

This drama covered every aspect nicely, it went from being weird to interesting, devastating to hopeful, and sadness to relief. it had many weird and slightly uncomfortable moments but I like how they’re were often acknowledged as part of the script. I didn’t particularly dislike anyone, although I wish they’d cut back on Gun’s maniacal laughter a bit. I might not have agreed with some of the decisions made however, I felt like I could understand everyone’s viewpoint. I really appreciated the growth in Mi Young and loved the time skips. Great ending and highly recommended.

nice drama to watch

This is my first modern Korean drama and I'm impressed because I didn't expect to like it...
The story is not new, but quite nicely written, although there were moments in the plot when I didn't know what it was about... in general, it's a pity that the drama is not available on YouTube with automatic translation into various languages, because I was struggling with the English one and maybe that's why some of the threads were unclear to me...
It's a kind of romance with funny, but also dramatic twists.... love turned into a deep feeling by accident, but it was interrupted by a 3-year separation... I didn't understand it at all... ok, Lee Gun's illness was mentioned, but he she was behaving strangely... because when he finally started to develop feelings for Kim Mi Young and first adored her, and then suddenly broke up in such a hopeless way that he contributed to a car accident and the loss of a child... then the action moves 3 years ago forward and they meet again... she is already a famous cartoonist, and he continues his work and is the president of a large company... when he finds out that she is back, he chases after her again and does everything to get her attention, and again he does something so senseless that he suddenly hurts her so painfully and disgusts her... I don't understand it at all... if he knew that he couldn't be with her due to her illness, why does he encourage her and incite mutual feelings... very strange... however, the ending is happy, which I'm glad about, because I don't like tragic endings, especially when the main leads go through so many difficulties and traumatic experiences.

I really liked the main actors, there was a nice chemistry between them - great.... one of the writers accused that the bangs didn't suit ML, but I personally liked it because it fit Lee Gun's character and behavior at the beginning of the episodes and this laughter was also ok at the beginning, but then when they got back together, he actually used this laughter too much, although it was explained at the end why - because of his father, who gave him a message to smile often in life even in difficult situations moments...
Nice role played by Jan Na Ra... she was able to show emotions nicely... I also loved Lee Gun's grandmother, who had a distance to all matters.
OST - it was quite nice, especially the song Good Bye My Love

I recommend

A Wonderful Drama

Nobody really needs this review. There are 148 already, which probably tried plenty of angles. However, I will add this, because it's incredibly personal. I am a buff of k-dramas, but I owe my dedication to them to 2 k-dramas (I watched some until then, especially action ones, like IRIS, The K2, Signal and I liked them, but nothing more), in chronological order of viewing: 25 21 and Fated to Love You. The scene from hospital in episode 12, when she cries, is, without any shadow of doubt, Oscar worthy. I couldn't believe my eyes, while crying, obviously. The second time I watched it (oh well, there were about 10 more...), I just watched Na-Ra's face all the time. I was curious, because frequently, when actors/actresses are not in the prime plane, they tend to be a bit careless. Each and every gesture and reaction of Na-Ra were perfect. Why not at least a Baek Sang nomination? Oh well... I was pissed off, and I am pissed off about it. Try to get over Jang Hyuk's hyena laugh, which steps on everyone's nerves, and watch it. For Jang Na-Ra, who is stunning!! One million claps for her play!

This drama is so much more than just a comedy or even romance. It touches so many subjects on real life matters and how we each would deal with situations that arise. It's not a 10 just because I do feel like some situations were dragged out too long. But please be prepared to laugh your butt off! His facial expressions cracked me up.

GOOD TILL EPI 16

the show is good until episode 16, after that it drags and the characters become almost unbearable. It still has some decent moments but rare and few. my advice watch it till episode 16 and consider it the end. would have loved if they did not went full cliche and ruin the charactere by making them act too foolish. they took decent characters and just buchered them for the sake of making the show run a little longer but no real help to the story where they could have nicely wrap the story in one or 2 episode max and save the show.

By far, the best "Fated to Love You" remake version out there! Although this drama keeps the farce comedic genre, it is toned down compared to the original Taiwanese version making the drama better balanced between the comedy and romance. This version also has a unique storyline for the male lead but the overall plot follows the original story. The tear jerking moments are heart tugging and memorable. There is a fantastic gradual and consistent character growth for the leading couple who has great chemistry and did a phenomenal job bringing their characters to life. Although Lee Gun's laugh is annoying sometimes, I really like how he performed his character on this version. Jang Na Ra was perfect as Kim Mi Young. Enjoy it!

So giving people ruffies is funny and romantic... only thing worse is that laugh.

There were some nice moments, but hard to take seriously with that constant obnoxious laugh, and the ruffies bookending the story like it was a good thing. Just awful. Also, too long with too many cliches. I did like how the family treated younger brother after it turned out that he wasn't actually related. All those negatives just overshadowed the good parts too much for me. I do like the Ellie Kim bags though. And the music wasn't bad.

okay, now the app is forcing me to write a longer review but I've already spent too much time on this show, so moving on to the next drama!
