Chen Du Ling and Yang Yang's urban drama Kiss in the Wind has been officially announced.
The drama is adapted from Jiji De Mao's (唧唧的猫) popular novel of the same name. It follows a young couple who pursue love after years of separation, weaving together themes of regret, reunion, and healing.
This marks the pair's reunion on screen 11 years after co-starring in the film The Left Ear.
In her youth, Fu Xue Li is vibrant, bold, and free-spirited, while Xu Xing Chun is reserved, sensitive, and harbors a deep-seated obsession in his heart.
Though both are lonely at their core, they once loved each other passionately. However, at an age when they were too young and powerless, they ended up hurting each other and parting ways with regrets.
Six years pass, and the two go on to lead vastly different lives. Xu Xing Xhun becomes a forensic examiner, spending his days with evidence and pursuing the truth. Outwardly restrained and composed, he rarely reveals his emotions. Yet the love and wounds he has buried for years have never truly faded.
Fu Xue Li has become a top actress commanding widespread attention. Radiant and dazzling on camera, she is accustomed to hiding behind a sharp exterior. Though she appears to handle everything with ease, deep inside, she still carries an emotional void left by that relationship from years ago.
After reuniting, the two repeatedly navigate a web of probing, emotional push and pull, and inner conflict. Past misunderstandings intertwine with the lingering affection they still harbor for each other. Amid the tug-of-war between love and resentment, they confront old wounds, relearn how to accept each other, and ultimately find healing and reconciliation.
The 24-episode drama is jointly produced by Tencent Video and Insight Entertainment. Filming is scheduled to begin in early November in Wuxi and Shanghai, with production expected to last about three months. The series will stream exclusively on Tencent Video.
Chen Du Ling steps out of her previous image of cool elegance and quiet composure to take on an outspoken, passionate actress role with a sharp edge.
Yang Yang plays Xu Xing Chun, who works first as a forensic examiner and later as a narcotics police officer, fighting on the front lines of criminal investigations. Xu is calm and rational when handling cases, decisive in his actions, and unafraid to step forward in times of danger.
A reunion after many years gives Xu Xing Chun the chance to confront his past, reconcile with himself, and find redemption.
