New stills from the Netflix series Dear Hongrang have been unveiled.
Set in the Joseon era, Dear Hongrang is a mystery melodrama that follows the eldest son of the greatest merchant family, Hong Rang (Lee Jae Wook), who returns after 12 years with lost memories, while his step-sister Jae Yi (Jo Bo Ah) suspects his true identity.
The stills capture the shift in dynamics triggered by the coming of Hong Rang, as he returns to the Min Merchant Guild after 12 years.
As Min Yeon Ui (Uhm Ji Won), who has spent those 12 years longing for her son, tenderly caresses Hong Rang's face, his indecipherable expression adds to the air of mystery.
A still showcasing Jae Yi (Jo Bo Ah) with a gaze full of wariness piques curiosity about what plans she might be devising to uncover the truth about Hong Rang, whose true identity she persistently doubts.
Then there is Mu Jin (Jung Ga Ram), wearing a grim expression, which raises questions about how he will navigate the crisis brought on by the sudden return of Hong Rang, who threatens his place as heir to the Min Merchant Guild.
A still featuring Min Yeon Ui, the matriarch of the Min Merchant Guild, and Shim Yeol Guk (Park Byung Eun), the head of the guild, captures the palpable tension between the couple, who manage the guild together yet harbor differing ambitions.
Prince Han Pyeong (Kim Jae Wook), an artist gifted with the most discerning eye in Joseon, is shown engrossed in painting, brush in hand, piquing curiosity about why he is so obsessed with art and how he is entangled with the Min Merchant Guild.
From the mystery surrounding Hong Rang's true identity to the ambitions of those surrounding him and Jae Yi, Dear Hongrang promises to be a gripping mystery melodrama.
Dear Hongrang is coming on May 16, only on Netflix.
