Lee Byung Hun cast in new Korean historical action film
The fantasy drama Love of the Divine Tree has confirmed its release date for February 7.
Love of the Divine Tree follows Su Yi Shui, a genius cultivator, whose fate was changed by his master, Mu Qing Ge.
Twenty years ago, Mu Qing Ge (Julia Xiang), the leader of the Xishan Sect, sacrificed her golden core to seal a powerful spiritual spring on her disciple, Su Yi Shui (Deng Wei). She did this to protect the world from chaos caused by demonic creatures. However, the world misunderstood her actions, and she was believed to be a demon. As a result, the four major sects united to hunt her down. Before Mu Qing Ge died, Su Yi Shui discovered the truth. Determined to save his master, he endured countless hardships in search of the Rebirth Tree. Eventually, he offered half of his golden core to help bring Mu Qing Ge back to life.
Twenty years later, Mu Qing Ge is reborn as Xue Ran Ran (Julia Xiang). Su Yi Shui finds the frail and dying Xue Ran Ran and takes her in as his disciple, vowing to protect her for the rest of her life. Now, the seal on the spiritual spring is loosening once again. The demonic cultivator Dun Tian seeks to use its power to create a demon child with the intention of harming all living beings.
Su Yi Shui never forgot Mu Qing Ge's last wish and risked his life to seal the spiritual spring back into the realm of the dead. However, during the process, he was framed by Dun Tian and lost his memory.
Apart from Deng Wei and Julia Xiang, the Chinese drama also stars Chen Xin Hai, Zhang Wei Na, Deng Kai, and Cao Yu Chen. The Blood of Youth's director Yin Tao takes the helm, and Mysterious Lotus Casebook's writer Liu Fang penned the script.
Love of the Divine Tree will premiere on February 7. It will be streaming on iQIYI.
