Jung Eun Chae will reportedly replace Park Ji Hyun as the new female lead in the upcoming second season of Flex X Cop.
On October 15, media outlets reported that Jung Eun Chae has been chosen to be the new female lead of the upcoming K-drama Flex X Cop Season 2.
The production team of Flex X Cop Season 2 responded to the reports and revealed, "We are positively discussing the appearance of actress Jung Eun Chae in the upcoming K-drama."
Park Ji Hyun, the female lead of the first season, announced last August that she would not be able to join the second season due to scheduling conflicts. This news saddened many fans of the K-drama. However, the potential casting of Jung Eun Chae as her replacement has now excited viewers, raising their joy and expectations.
Meanwhile, this will possibly be the follow-up K-drama project of Jung Eun Chae after Jeongnyeon: The Star Is Born.
The actress is also set to lead the upcoming ENA K-drama Honour with Lee Na Young and Lee Chung Ah.
The first season of Flex X Cop revealed the happenings in Jin Yi Soo's life, a third-generation conglomerate heir who becomes a detective in the violent crimes department after getting entangled in a case. He then decides to become a true detective and use his wealth and status to solve cases that also involve privileged people like him. The K-drama depicted its story from the 2015 Russian series Silver Spoon. The second season will feature Jin Yi Soo as he confronts a fresh set of challenges.
According to reports, Jung Eun Chae received an offer to portray the role of Joo Hye Ra. She will take over as the new team leader of Violent Crimes Unit 1, replacing Lee Gang Hyeon, while she is away training in Los Angeles. Joo Hye Ra is a former member of the National Police Agency’s counter-terrorism team who chose to join the Violent Crimes Unit. She also has a past connection with Jin Yi Soo. She was the "devil instructor" during his time at the police academy.
Ahn Bo Hyun will reprise his role in the upcoming second season. There has been no official confirmation yet regarding the return of the other cast members for the new season.
Writer Kim Ba Da (My Name, Life Risking Romance, and The Huntresses) will also return to pen the script of Flex X Cop Season 2.
