Sung Hoon: 'There are things you can't overcome no matter how hard you try'
Kim Jun Han and Ryu Hye Young are set to transform into key figures at the helm of a fashion startup in the film The Intern.
Korean remake of the Hollywood film of the same name, The Intern tells the story of Ki Ho (Choi Min Sik), a senior intern with 37 years of career experience, who joins the company of Sun Woo (Han So Hee), a CEO whose fashion business has become the industry's dark horse just three years after its launch. The film follows their office life as they overcome differences in generation and rank.
Kim Jun Han plays Young Hwan, the pragmatic vice president of Wootutu. Young Hwan is Sun Woo's longtime colleague and right-hand man, having helped her grow the company into a business generating annual sales in the tens of billions of won.
The stills show Young Hwan looking relaxed with a bright smile, while in meetings, he takes on a sharp, composed expression as he offers Sun Woo realistic and practical opinions.
Kim Jun Han is set to portray Young Hwan's contrasting sides, from his approachable demeanor as a friendly senior colleague to his qualities as a vice president who makes cool-headed judgments on important company decisions. Director Kim Do Young praised him, saying, "With his exceptional sense of balance, he brought a clear sense of stability to the screen simply through his presence."
Ryu Hye Young plays Min Ah, the head of the Management Support Team at Wootutu. As Sun Woo's dependable left-hand woman and a hands-on employee responsible for handling the company's day-to-day operations, she showcases a range of sides, from being fully immersed in her work at her desk to looking flustered when faced with unexpected incidents.
In particular, the character's persona as an "AI-obsessed head of the Management Support Team" combines with Ryu Hye Young's signature realistic acting to create a distinctive and relatable employee character. Choi Min Sik highly praised her performance, saying, "She was truly like a fish in water. She acted so well that I was genuinely amazed."
The Intern is coming September 16.
