Kim Soo Hyun is gearing up to resume activities, following a career-shattering controversy involving Kim Sae Ron.

His agency, GOLDMEDALIST, announced, "Kim Soo Hyun will take part in a print advertisement shoot on July 14 for the leading Philippine fashion brand Bench." This marks his first professional activity in over a year after halting promotions amid various personal controversies, including allegations regarding a past relationship with the late actress Kim Sae Ron, which surfaced in March of last year.

At the time, Kim Soo Hyun faced multiple allegations, including claims that he had been in a relationship with the late Kim Sae Ron for six years beginning in 2015, when she was 15, as well as accusations related to debt repayment demands. He denied the allegations at a press conference, stating that they only dated after Kim Sae Ron had become an adult. However, several brands for which Kim Soo Hyun had served as an endorsement model announced the termination of their contracts with him, while the release of the Disney+ series Knock Off, which had been scheduled to premiere last year, was postponed indefinitely.

Amid these developments, the case recently entered a new phase after YouTuber Kim Se Ui, who operates the YouTube channel Garo Sero Research Institute (HoverLab), was referred to prosecution on charges including the dissemination of false information. Police stated that Kim Se Ui had used AI to manipulate Kim Sae Ron's voice and had fabricated KakaoTalk conversations that were presented as evidence of Kim Soo Hyun and Kim Sae Ron's relationship.

In response, Kim Se Ui claimed during a YouTube broadcast on May 20, "The National Forensic Service determined that the recording cannot be considered AI-manipulated," adding that "the police's warrant request is intended to block the exposure of a prominent politician's sexual crime case in Vietnam."

The court issued an arrest warrant, stating that there was a risk of evidence destruction and flight. On July 2, it also rejected a request filed by Kim Se Ui's side seeking a review of the legality of his detention.

Kim Soo Hyun's side also plans to continue pursuing strong legal action against Kim Se Ui by significantly increasing the amount sought in its damages lawsuit from 12 billion won to 30 billion won.
