Actor Kwak Dong Yeon is set to begin his mandatory military service later this summer.

On July 21, reports emerged that the actor would enlist on August 25.

His agency, THEBLACKLABEL, subsequently confirmed the news, stating, "Kwak Dong Yeon will enlist as an active-duty soldier on August 25, 2026, and diligently fulfill his military service."

Due to his enlistment, Kwak will not return for the upcoming season of The Village Barber, which is slated to start filming in late August and will star Go Kyung Pyo as a new cast member.

Kwak first entered the entertainment industry in 2012 through the KBS2 drama My Husband Got a Family. Over the years, he has built an impressive résumé with roles in hit series such as My ID Is Gangnam Beauty, My Strange Hero, Big Mouth and Queen of Tears.
