Liu Yu Ning and Song Zu Er's The Prisoner of Beauty premieres today (May 13).

In a time of chaos, Wei Shao, having endured the pain of losing his father and elder brother, took up the heavy responsibility of leading his family. When he leads his people to avenge the humiliation of their city's massacre, he comes to realize that what they truly need is not revenge and war, but peace.

For the sake of the people's livelihood, he extends a marriage alliance proposal to the Qiao family, who had once betrayed the Wei clan. The youngest daughter, Qiao Man, is forced into marriage. Rumor has it that Wei Shao delights in conquest, and Qiao Man knew well that his marriage to her was nothing more than a political tactic. In the Wei household, she lives cautiously, like treading on thin ice.

The duo weather numerous crises together and begin to see each other in a different light. Yet, the grudges of the previous generation stand between them, creating a rift in their relationship. Will the husband and wife resolve the longstanding family feud and restore peace and stability?

The C-drama is adapted from the novel of the same Chinese name by Peng Lai Ke. Song Zu Er stars as Xiao Qiao, and The Story of Pearl Girl actor Liu Yu Ning as Wei Shao. Joining them are Xuan Lu, Liu Duan Duan, Liu Xiao Qing, and He Hong Shan.

The Prisoner of Beauty is streaming now on WeTV.
