Son Ye Jin and Jo Yu Ri are leading the newest Netflix original K-drama.
On July 21, Netflix officially confirmed that the upcoming thriller K-drama Variety will be led by Son Ye Jin and Jo Yu Ri. The two will work with director Kim Yong Hoon in the new series.
Variety will provide insights into the happenings within the idol industry. It will focus on the CEO who created Korea's best K-pop group and an obsessed fan who follows them.
The upcoming K-drama will be the next work of director Kim Yong Hoon, who is known for creating the hit Netflix original K-drama Mask Girl and the 2020 film Beasts Clawing at Straws.
The cast of the new K-drama is expected to include veteran and rookie actors alongside Son Ye Jin and Jo Yu Ri. The K-drama's airing date has not yet been confirmed.
Son Ye Jin will give life to the role of Sae Eun. She is the CEO of South Korea's leading entertainment agency. She is determined to renew the contract of the idol group she personally developed.
Before Son Ye Jin becomes an agency CEO, she will first greet viewers through the upcoming Netflix original K-drama Scandal with Ji Chang Wook. She will also lead the upcoming film There Is No Choice alongside Lee Byung Hun, Park Hee Soon, Lee Sung Min, Yeom Hye Ran, and Cha Seung Won.
Jo Yu Ri will play Seung Hee, an obsessive fan of the idol group Sae Eun created. Nothing can stop Seung Hee from meeting her idols; she relentlessly follows and tracks their every move, much like a stalker.
Variety will be Jo Yu Ri's follow-up K-drama project after successfully starring in the two seasons of Squid Game.
