On October 26, Disney+ unveiled production stills giving a glimpse into the world of The Remarried Empress.

The Remarried Empress tells the story of Empress Navier (Shin Min Ah), the perfect empress of the Eastern Empire, who is divorced by her husband, Emperor Sovieshu (Ju Ji Hoon) — who fell for Rashta (Lee Se Young) — and subsequently marries Prince Heinrey (Lee Jong Suk) of the Western Empire.

The stills bring the imperial world to life with striking visuals, capturing the distinct atmospheres of the Eastern Empire and the Western Empire, along with intricate details that reflect each character's story and defining traits.

The Eastern Empire exudes prosperity and stability, with warm tones blending harmoniously with lush greenery.

In contrast, the Western Empire presents a distinctly different mood through its cool colors and architecture. The contrasting spaces of the two kingdoms further highlight the characters' relationships and the story to come.

Art director Lee Tae Hoon stated, "Our most important principle was to reflect each character's personality and story in their surroundings. We carefully balanced the designs so that each character's world would remain clearly distinct while still connecting organically within a single story."

The characters' stories and relationships are intricately woven into even the smallest props and costumes that fill the screen. Director Jo Soo Won explained, "All the props were used not merely as decorative elements, but as elements that enhance the realism of the [fictional] world and add to the immersion."

The costumes also reflect changes in Navier's relationships. In scenes with Sovieshu, she wears outfits with vivid colors and elaborate designs, while her costumes feel more restrained and softer when she is with Heinrey. These subtle costume details offer another interesting point for viewers to notice.

The VFX team also put considerable effort into bringing the original work's world to life as a vibrant, living space. VFX supervisor Kim Shin Chul revealed that the team focused on vividly rendering the imagined world on screen, as if creating a real home for the characters to live in.

The Remarried Empress will premiere on Disney+ on November 4.
