The Netflix original K-drama When Life Gives You Tangerines is continuously gaining recognition.
On August 24, the 2025 Global OTT Awards were held at the Busan Cinema Center outdoor theater in Haeundae, Busan. The hit Netflix original K-drama When Life Gives You Tangerines, starring IU, Park Bo Gum, Moon So Ri, and Park Hae Joon, was honored with three additional awards at the ceremony.
When Life Gives You Tangerines took home the awards for Best Creative, Best Writer, and Best Supporting Actress for actress Yeom Hye Ran. This was the most awarded OTT work at the event this year.
When Life Gives You Tangerines has consistently earned nominations and awards at various ceremonies, including multiple honors at the Global OTT Awards 2025. The series is praised for its ability to achieve both commercial success and artistic value.
After its premiere in March of this year, the K-drama quickly became a major success, reaching number one on domestic Netflix and debuting at fourth on the global Top 10 list for non-English series. It later climbed to the top spot on the global chart and remained in the Top 10 for eight consecutive weeks. Because of the K-drama's popularity, the series accumulated approximately 35 million views worldwide in the first half of the year.
Aside from When Life Gives You Tangerines, K-dramas such as Nine Puzzle, What Comes After Love, Hyper Knife, Good Boy, and Resident Playbook also received awards at the 2025 Global OTT Awards.
When Life Gives You Tangerines tells the story of the free-spirited Ae Soon and the diligent Gwan Sik and their journey through life's many seasons.
The K-drama was the joint work of director Kim Won Suk (My Mister, Signal, and Misaeng: Incomplete Life) and writer Im Sang Choon (When the Camellia Blooms and Fight for My Way).
Aside from the main leads, the K-drama starred Kim Yong Rim, Na Moon Hee, Yeom Hye Ran, Oh Min Ae, Choi Dae Hoon, Jang Hye Jin, Cha Mi Kyung, Lee Soo Mi, Baek Ji Won, Jung Hae Kyun, Kang You Seok, Lee Soo Kyung, Lee Jun Young, Kim Seon Ho, and more.
Meanwhile, main leads Park Bo Gum and IU are set to reunite at the 2025 Asia Artist Awards (AAA) on December 6.
