Yi Yun
Fictional Character
Yun is the only son of King Seon Jong and the nephew of Grand Prince Yi An. Intelligent and kind-hearted, he nevertheless lives in a constant state of anxiety, often appearing timid and withdrawn. Some attribute this to the burden of ascending the throne at a young age, but Yun’s fragile nature existed long before his coronation. His father was often drunk and quick to anger, while his mother remained strict and emotionally distant, leaving Yun to grow up in fear and loneliness.
The one person who brought him comfort was his uncle, Grand Prince Yi An, who treated him with the warmth Yun never received from his parents, embracing him like a father and smiling at him with gentle kindness. But that warmth fades after the king’s death. Grand Prince Yi An no longer laughs with him or spends time by his side as before.
Even so, Yun cannot bring himself to resent his uncle. Deep down, he understands that by becoming king, he may have taken something precious away from the man who once cared for him the most.
