Anyone who read the novel?

Thanks for creating this discussion board. I haven’t read the novel but I saw a couple of commenters who had read it and was giving very useful and good insight about the characters and story.

Unfortunately due to censorship and editing issues that resulted in the story telling in this drama not so smooth and sometimes even obvious plotholes.

So I do hope the novel readers will share their thoughts here ;).

I want to curse them for having such strict rules

Of course you can. lol.

Maybe you can share some of the interesting details that were shared in the novel and you felt should be included? That will be helpful so it won’t be lost in discussion;).

But totally no obligation, just saying.

For once I would have wish this drama showed all Mu Dai’s three personality and not just two, the white and black..

First of all—I'm so happy about this discussion board, so thank you for creating it! 💖 It's exactly what we needed to keep our fangirl brains organized ..

NOW... why am I even doing this comparison between the book and the drama, you ask? Simple. Because I’m absolutely OBSESSED with the ML. He’s drop-dead handsome, and yes, I shamelessly admit I started watching the drama purely because of him.. 😂

THE BOOK..

He’s around 30 -I think- with this quiet, calm energy that just pulls you in. Not cold at all—more like the kind of guy who’s been through a lot, so he doesn't open up easily. But once he does, it’s worth the wait.

He used to be a police officer, and even though he's not in the force anymore, you can still see that strong sense of justice in how he acts. He’s super observant too—like the kind of person who notices the small stuff others miss without saying much.

Money-wise, he’s doing well. His dad is a wealthy businessman, though they don’t have the best relationship. Still, he had access to that world growing up, and he built on it with smart choices and a lot of hard work. He’s definitely the responsible, steady type.

But emotionally? He’s been through some really painful stuff. He lost people he cared about deeply—including a former work partner—and he’s been betrayed in ways that really left a mark. That’s why he seems guarded. He protects his heart, but not because he doesn’t feel—because he feels a lot.

And when it comes to the FL, you can tell he cares deeply. He’s not showy about it, but the way he supports her, protects her, and slowly lets her in? It’s so tender and real. Honestly, he's the kind of guy who doesn’t need big words—his actions speak loud enough.

THE DRAMA...

He’s in his mid-twenties—at least that’s the vibe, though they haven’t told us exactly. But one thing’s for sure: he’s ridiculously handsome. The kind of man who turns heads without even trying. Tall, sharp features, eyes full of quiet storms, and that slow, intentional way of moving that makes it hard to look away.  😂He’s got this quiet magnetism—cool, composed, and just mysterious enough to keep you hooked. 💋

In the drama, we don’t know much about his past job, which only adds to the intrigue. But you can feel the experience on him—like he’s seen too much and learned to say too little. He’s the calm in the chaos, always observing, always two steps ahead.

He’s financially stable, partly thanks to his father—a powerful businessman—but their relationship is emotionally distant and tense. Add in a stepmother and younger half-brother, and the family picture gets even more complicated. Still, he’s clearly not the type to coast on his father’s money. He’s capable, grounded, and makes his own way.

Emotionally? We haven’t seen the full depth yet—no mentions of teammate loss like in the novel—but there’s something heavy behind those quiet eyes. The kind of pain that doesn’t shout, just lingers.

And when it comes to the FL? He’s slowly letting her in. Their connection is that  slow-burn—the kind that makes you lean forward for every little glance or line of dialogue. No over-the-top gestures, but his subtle loyalty and care..

Still, the drama is ongoing—so maybe all these things will be cleared up as we go.

Just hoping I could offer something useful in all the fangirl chaos 😂

Okayyy next time I’ll do the rest of the character comparisons—BUT let’s be honest, the most important thing (to me at least lol) is the romance and kiss scenes 💋 So listen up girls, we actually got 3 hot kisses in the novel!!! Yesss you heard me right—THREE!! 💃💃

Can’t wait to dive deeper next time with more juicy details! 😂

Wow @ Onmyway123 - this is so interesting to read. Thank you for contributing this piece, sparks my interest more on ML’s background story and always wonder how come he is so rich;).

And of course SWL is so so so handsome!!!!

Wow!!! 3 HOT kisses, I wonder, how will that be handled here…I doubt we will see them. Could you kindly share which chapters, so maybe I go search it out. Wahahah…with imagination while the show continues.

Aww thank you! I'm so glad you enjoyed it! 😄

As for the other handsome guy  😍  don’t worry, I’ll be doing a full diagnosis on him later too—visual impact, charm levels, emotional damage potential… the whole package .. giiiirl.. I take my fangirl duties very seriously 😎💖

Yo!! Not only 3kisses but 3 sensual scenes lol! to but definitely it won’t pass the censorship. And 3 Mudai personalities idk with what kind they have changed. Among all the 4 cases till now Mudai case they have changed her character, her relations with her friends and her secret love for luoren. + in book honestly there’s lengthy detailing about what happened with her mom n about mudai childhood. They did good by skipping all those things they are quite scary n boring too. And

@onmyway123 he’s not police officer. He’s underground fighter kind of and after watching him Qingmu n gang decides to make him join their association. They r mostly like bodyguards like really powerful.

@Doolset   ....YES Mu Dai’s drama version got majorly toned down—guess 32 episodes ain’t enough for all that childhood trauma and emotional chaos 😂 In the novel, she’s way more intense and layered.

Okay but seriously—our ML?? I totally thought he was some broody government agent or undercover cop or something ..NOT.. he's part of this low-key powerful association. Still super cool and mysterious, so no complaints there...

Now let’s talk about the hot scenes... we’re not asking for anything explicit or 18+just give us one good kiss! Something that shows how this closed-off, gloomy man is falling hard for her. There are so many creative ways to play with that within censorship limits! Just let us feel the intensity.. 😂

Like c’mon, he’s gloomy, he’s guarded, he’s brooding—he deserves a cinematic kiss moment and so do we!! 😭🔥

Girl..Already people are complaining there’s too much romance 😭😂

Idk if they r haters of FL/ML as people r so into shipping they can’t watch show without any prejudice.

Few of the scenes in the book I really find out of place like how he touches her body when they r 30ft inside deep pit and whole body injured(5th relic).

But as u said even I want to see little romance considering weilong and haocun natural chemistry 🧪

sis,, honestly—this isn’t hate, it’s just peak fangirl behavior 😂 People love shipping the leads, as you said, and hey—it’s in the book, so why not? Let us have our fun!

NOW.. let’s talk about Ao Rui Peng. This man did not just walk into Jiang Zhao’s shoes—he snatched the role, chewed it up, and served it back with seasoning.

He nailed every emotion without a single cringe in sight. No cheesy lines, no overacting—just raw sincerity, some heartbreak, and those dangerously soft puppy eyes. He gave us a character even deeper than the BOOK version. Iconic behavior.

So yeah, he’s my fave when it comes to acting in this drama. The chaos, the layers, the charm—it’s giving everything. We love a man who can break our hearts and make us laugh five seconds later 😂💖

@ Megumi-H ....Sis, sorry I missed your question earlier! So the kiss scenes are in Chapters 18 and 19, for both volume 4 and then later on—I'm not exactly sure of the chapter—but near the end, there’s a hot scene where he asks her to marry him ...

“Tailor made role” for him

One billion percent 😂
