I have to say I actually really liked this one.. That makes it three dramas in a row that I have enjoyed.. LOZH, Reborn and this.. All in completely different genres..

Song Wei Long’s previous work was pretty disappointing for me.. Same with Liu Hao Cun.. Even though her last drama wasn’t bad, I just didn’t think she did a good job in it.. The ML mostly carried that one.. But this was different.. LHC felt more comfortable here.. She seems more at home in dramas with martial arts and action stuff I guess.. Even SWL, his character was solid here and he did a satisfying job..

Honestly, I didn’t really enjoy the first few episodes.. Some scenes were so silly or cringey that I just laughed at them.. But it got much much better as it went on.. Loved the Captain America inspired fight in the lift.. That was fun.. I also really liked the fight in ep 2 between the main leads.. I liked their chemistry there and the kind of expectation it brought with it.. And I was also very excited about the squad.. They had this weird bond and behavior.. It was bound to get crazy and obviously fun..

The world building was done well and the relics in The Seven Relics of Ill Omen are a fascinating plot device.. Though not without its flaws.. But I think that’s easy to ignore since the other aspects of the story make up for it.. The story kept getting more interesting with each relic, how their pasts unfolded and how their connection to the relics was slowly revealed..

" You have to believe the heavens love you..
The flowers they withhold..
They make up for it with stars.. "

I liked the relationship between Luo Ren and Mu Dai.. This wasn’t a romance story, but they had good chemistry and really clicked..

How can I not talk about their Hummer?? Just like the characters, the SUV went through a lot too.. They literally dragged it through a desert, dried lake, quicksand, mountains and it still survived..

Everyone in the Phoenix Squad had a painful past.. Except Chubby I guess.. The main leads probably had the most painful ones.. They lost a lot and went through even more.. I just wish they had taken Lou Ren's Flashback scenes a bit more seriously.. Because it had real potential.. They should have handled it with more care.. The gunfight scenes could have been much better but instead it turned out to be too bland.. It was just a senseless sequence with no real clarity.. If they had spent a bit more money and brought in professionals instead of shelf actors, those scenes could have been a lot more satisfying and enjoyable to watch..

The only disappointing part in this drama for me was Ao Rui Peng.. People might hate me for saying this, but he was terribly bland in this.. Honestly I am surprised he is hyped as a talented actor.. I just don’t see it.. Overall, this drama isn’t a masterpiece.. But for me it gets so much right that I just had a good time watching it..

P.S. The OST was too damn good..

2nd Underrated Gem of 2025

I put this on my watchlist because I wanted to see SWL in a modern drama and he did very well as did pretty much everyone else sans one villain. This was a series which had all the goodies of creepiness; contortionists, resurrection, evil relics, so on and so forth. This really was the second underrated gem of a drama that I've watched this year.

Pros: The Phoenix entire squad. Even Chubby, though he didn't contribute much other than talking nonstop, was an integral part of this team. I'm glad we finally got a chance to meet the supernatural chicken and it was fun to have. I really loved every single arc until the second to last one. I will speak about that in the cons. Every single thing was connected, obviously laid by a plan, created by the ultimate antagonist. But no matter what happened once the squad was formed they always had each other's backs and if they were in separate locations, they would always be in contact. Misunderstandings would get resolved very quickly. I love how the show kept us guessing with the multiple personalities of MD or the FL we didn't know for a while that she even had two personalities, but it was interesting to see the difference between her and the other one and a half I guess you could say I nicknamed the other personalities as Faith, which was dark MD and Robo Barbie, which was stoned MD. Even though this series didn't have any promotion, I think a lot of things were pretty well done especially CGI and the storytelling in general.

Other than our squad and the supernatural chicken, other favorite characters were MD's family, ML's family as well as his last surviving friend and actually the people from every single case good or bad they delivered on their performances. Also, the fight scenes were awesome. I mean gravity defying stunts and all of that I love very much. I also have to give props to the real antagonist of this show. He turned up in episode 1 and we sporadically saw him until his final arc in episode 31.

The OSTs, production, more or less in general, sets, even though a lot was CGI, but thankfully, it didn't look like they used anything fake like the desert or the village or the mountains. Comedy also hit as it was supposed to. Thankfully, no slapstick humor here.

Cons: This show got a whole point taken off for several reasons; for starters the incredibly choppy editing I have to say that that probably had something to do with cutting the amount of episodes down so production either didn't want to or didn't have time to edit scenes properly because you jump from one scenario to the next and you have no idea how you got there in a lot of the episodes. Also, a lot of times there were cliffhangers that seemed to just not be shown the following episode or they would just be explained in the way that wouldn't make sense. Also, there were a lot of loose ends, not tied. Like the relics are now in their bodies. What happens next? Are they sealed for good? What happens when the characters grow old and die; do the relics come back to life? There's a lot that was not explained in regarding to the relics. I think they should've done a deeper dive as novel readers pointed out. Also, what happened to Mr. creepy antagonist? Is he dead for good or until another 280 years passes and he resurrects like the creature from Jeepers Creepers?

The ending was rushed because the main antagonist was only given two episodes if that to put everything together and do his whole evil shtick. Meanwhile, the crazy creepy cackle Halloween store witch leopard lady was given something like six episodes but she killed that entire arc. Every single time she opened her mouth. I wanted to hit her with a bat. I hated her character not because she was bad but because she was so annoying. They completely miscast the actress or they should have dubbed her over with a Fluently Mandarin speaking actress. But even her acting was over the top; she twirled, and she pointed her fingers with fake nails and acted like a plum fool. You would never think of her as being this ruthless, horrible person that we saw in ML's flashbacks. Honestly, she was basically the equivalent of what a leather wearing, valley girl would be the best way to describe her and she knew neither English nor Mandarin fluently. When she spoke on top of it, her lips did not match the sound that was coming from her voice so obviously she dubbed herself and it was really poorly done and no one corrected anything. I legitimately got through all of her main scenes by fast forwarding her I couldn't even watch her.

Would I recommend it? I totally would, despite the choppy editing and one crappy antagonist. The show was great and sadly not promoted, but it deserves a watch, especially if you are into creepy type shows with a supernatural aspect.

Mild Plot Twists, Solid Characters, and a Relic Hunt Worth Watching

🌌 Plot Review
This drama had my favorite blend of genres: sci-fi, slight romance, and found-family friendship. Right from the start, it gave me “The Spirealm” vibes—but with its own flavor. The plot? It’s a mixed bag. Sometimes I was excited and fully locked in… other times I was scrolling through my phone wondering if the relic was done yet.

I didn’t think they could finish collecting all seven relics in just 32 episodes—but they actually did it. And weirdly, some episodes still felt like not enough. Like, “Wait, that’s it? Where’s the rest??” It gave both satisfaction and “okay but I wanted more” at the same time.

I almost dropped this for other ongoing sci-fi dramas—but thankfully, I didn’t. The plot pulled me back in, and I’m glad it did.

🧠 The Main Team (a.k.a. 5 Strong, 1 Heart)
Mu Dai
She’s mentally stable, kind, emotionally balanced—a genuinely lovable lead. But let’s talk about Black Mu Dai, because yes, I loved both.
Black Mu Dai had confidence, power, and that sharp instinct in battle. I hated that she had to be sidelined for the team’s balance, but she was honestly such a scene-stealer. Still, it was nice to have original Mu Dai back—soft yet strong.

Luo Ren
The loyal boyfriend energy was strong with this one. Even when facing a dangerous version of the girl he likes, he didn’t fold. Protective, level-headed—definitely one of the most grounded in the group.

Cao Yan Hua
Not your typical hero, but so likable. Emotionally strong, determined, and watching him go from robber to team MVP? Love that arc. He’s passionate, sincere, and his martial arts journey was one of my favorites.

Jiang Zhao
From flirty playboy to broken romantic. His backstory hit the hardest for me, and the fact that he was the last to wake up in reality? That kind of poetic sadness lingers. Easily the most tragic in the group.

Hong Sha
Certified baddie. She joined the team last but brought loyalty and grit. Losing her entire family didn’t break her—she still fought for her friends and the world. Queen behavior, honestly.

💬 Supporting Cast
They weren’t the focus, but Mu Dai’s adopted mother deserves a shoutout. She treated Mu Dai with so much love and warmth—it was sweeter than anything her actual mom gave. Real mom vibes, 100%.

🐾 Villains
Strongest villain award goes to Leopard—and by strongest, I mean the one who annoyed me the most. I wanted to reach into the screen and blind her other eye, respectfully.

The main villain, though? Bit of a letdown. All brains, no action, and got defeated in what felt like two episodes tops. After all that build-up, I expected a bit more of a boss fight, not a fast-forwarded chess match.

🎭 Acting & Performances
Let’s be honest—some of it felt a little forced. But overall, decent performances. The standout? Clara Lee, hands down. Her facial expressions alone could end a nation. That lip bite, the stare—cyberbullying in 4K. She knew exactly what she was doing, and it worked.

💻 CGI & Visuals
Minor flaws, but nothing distracting. Actually, some scenes looked really impressive, and it definitely made the story more immersive. I didn’t have the energy to break it all down, but it passed the “sci-fi effects not looking goofy” test.

🧩 Plot Twists
Honestly… not much to say. I didn’t really feel any shocking twists. Some things happened, sure, but it was more “okay, makes sense” than “OMG WHAT?!” So if there were twists, I must’ve been too chill to notice.

✅ Final Thoughts
This one might not be perfect, but it has soul. The teamwork, the character arcs, the action—it all came together in a really enjoyable way. If you like sci-fi dramas with just the right touch of emotion, loyalty, and light romance, this is worth watching.

Recommended for sci-fi lovers, team-dynamic fans, and anyone who enjoys plot over fluff.

Exceeded my Expectations, This One!!

Wow, honestly I had no plans to watch this drama at all, but like after just clicking on it to watch it, I didn't regret at all...It was tooooooo good to start with that I had to applaude...(p.s this is my current cdrama obsession following The first frost)..So, lemme start by introducing the characters I've seen in ep1: Song Weilong who is playing the handsome sexy ml Luo Ren ,Liu Haocun who is playing the stunning fl Mu Dai , Ao Rui Peng deliver relatable modern vibes while facing old-school horrors. They’re so good that a Reddit fan remarked, “Liu Haocun, sign me in…” (lol). As the drama folds, i heard there is gonna be a squard formed by the characters soon called “Phoenix Squad”, & we can expect the vibing being strong—witty banter, group dynamics, and a hint of personal stakes & brewing chemistry between the leads (and maybe more?).
Bottom line: Episode 1 serves a perfect blend of spooky supernatural thrills, engaging character setup, and the promise of epic relic-hunting adventures. It’s a fun, eerie start that leaves you itching for more—mysteries, monster encounters, and team banter.
Lastly, it is honestly Worth a watch! & Expect shivers, mystery, a touch of humor, and a team you’ll soon root for. Four out of five relics—can't wait for Episode 2

Started this randomly... and ended up spiritually adopting the entire cast.

This one came outta nowhere in one of those “whatever, let’s just watch something” moods — and ended up emotionally attached to a bird. And five strangers.

This drama is a rare gem: no messy love triangles, no endless misunderstandings, no death toll higher than a Shakespeare play. Just good vibes, great chemistry, and a storyline that actually respects your time.

The core friend group? 10/10 would go relic hunting with. Each one shines on their own, but together? Pure squad goals. Wholesome, loyal, and just chaotic enough to be lovable. I’d like to formally request adoption, thanks.

The FL and ML? Slow-burn sweetness that sneaks up on you. Their romance doesn’t dominate the story, but when it hits — it hits. The tension, the softness, the looks? Delicious.

Also: can we talk about the aesthetics?
It’s giving misty temples, cursed scrolls, and perfectly lit trauma. Plus, the OST slaps.

Was it perfect? Not quite. The Leopard arc tried something... questionable. But we move.
Because the rest of it? A wild, heartfelt ride. The mystery keeps you hooked, the humor lands, and the ending actually rewards your emotional investment — (almost) nobody dies just for the drama. Shocking, I know.

If you’re into adventure with soul, mystery with meaning, and friendships that feel like comfort food, go ahead and watch this ( also, if you liked Parallel World, you’ll vibe with this one).

And yes, the pheasant stays.

A Strong Start, Slightly Boring Mid-Arc, and a Disappointing Ending

The Seven Relics of Omen started off really promising, with an intriguing plot and a solid pace that kept things exciting. The cast’s acting was honestly great, especially Liu Haochun—her crying scenes were incredibly moving and she fit her role perfectly.
However, as the story moved into the middle episodes, things started to drag a little. While it was still enjoyable, some scenes felt unnecessarily long and lost a bit of the momentum from the beginning.
What truly fell flat, though, was the ending. It felt rushed and underwhelming—especially the final showdown with the last Relic. I was honestly expecting something more intense, maybe a dramatic fight or emotional confrontation, but it ended just like that? It left me disappointed, as if the climax was forced and lacked proper buildup.
It’s such a shame because the series had so much potential. Great acting and a strong start, but the execution toward the end could’ve been much better.

A Suspenseful Adventure with Heart, Humor, and Devious Antagonists

I don’t usually watch mystery series, but this CDrama completely hooked me. A perfect mix of suspense, martial arts, emotional arcs, and a dash of humor made it a binge-worthy experience from start to finish.

The story follows five individuals caught up in a mystery involving seven ancient relics. Three are martial artists, so the fight scenes are intense and well-choreographed. The protagonists each carry emotional baggage, and as they unravel the mystery, they go through powerful healing arcs. The antagonists are just as compelling — cunning and devious, they create constant tension, making the heroes' journey all the more thrilling.

The drama balances dark, suspenseful moments with light humor, making it emotionally engaging without feeling too heavy. There are a few scary and bloody scenes, but it stays well clear of gore, so it’s accessible to most viewers. The CGI isn’t top-tier, but it doesn’t detract from the experience. The focus is on the mystery, and the background music enhances the suspense, adding depth to every scene.

The cast delivers strong performances, and the pacing is perfect for binge-watching. The cliffhangers and emotional stakes make it hard to stop once you start.

To sum up, The Seven Relics of Ill Omen offers more than just a mystery; it’s a story of healing, redemption, and the battle between good and evil. With compelling characters and high stakes, it’s a must-watch for anyone who enjoys action, suspense, and emotional depth.

An edge of the seat thriller!!

The seven relics of ill omen is a totally enjoyable watch with a new concept of dealing with the seven relics that have been a mysterious force from the ancient times.
The "Phoenix Squad" of five along with Mighty Kun set off on an adventurous yet horrifying journey of finding the seven relics and capturing them and saving the world from a disaster.
The Phoenix Squad of five and their friendship really stands out as the main asset of this drama. Song Weilong, Liu Haocun, Ao Ruipeng, Wang Yi Ting and Zhang Yi chi really have given excellent performances. their acting was very realistic and natural. Kudos to them for bringing life into the characters of Luo Ren, Mu Dai, Jiang Zhao, Yan Hongsha and Cao Yanhua respectively.
Also, Yang Hao Yu who played Mighty Kun did a very good job as the person guiding the team of five.
The plot, screenplay, romance, friendship, teamwork all were handled perfectly.
All the other cast fitted their roles perfectly. The CGI were good, not excellent.
Though the concept is very thrilling with many edge of the seat moments, I however felt the ending was rushed/hurried and some concepts could be explained in much more detail.
Otherwise, it is a very good thrilling drama with I thoroughly enjoyed it.
I highly recommend this drama!!

MUST WACTCH IT !

Many dramas still manage to surprise me, but 7 Relics of Ill Omen was special for a whole different reason — it was actually my first Chinese sci-fi drama. I approached this Chinese sci-fi drama with minimal expectations, only to find myself completely absorbed by its remarkable depth, meticulous storytelling, and impressive execution.

The script is undeniably one of the show's greatest strengths. It is intelligent, well-paced, and thoughtfully layered. Each narrative arc serves a distinct purpose — not only pushing the story forward but also allowing viewers to immerse themselves, form theories, and anticipate twists without feeling overwhelmed. The structure is elegant yet complex, creating space for reflection while maintaining steady momentum. It respects the audience's intelligence — a refreshing rarity in the genre.

Visually, the production quality exceeded my expectations. The effects blend seamlessly into the story's futuristic world, enhancing rather than distracting from the narrative. Every detail, from set design to visual effects, reflects a commitment to world-building that feels tangible and believable. Even the soundtrack is masterfully curated — the OST matches the tone of each scene with precision, amplifying the emotions and tension at all the right moments.

Casting-wise, the series mostly hits the mark. Song Wei Long as Luo Wen and Liu Han Cun as Mu Dai deliver outstanding performances, bringing nuance and vulnerability to their characters. Watching them navigate such a rich, sci-fi universe was a delight, and they carried the emotional core of the story with authenticity. The supporting cast also deserve recognition — their characters were more than just background noise; they contributed layers to the overarching narrative, and following their personal journeys added depth and humanity to the high-concept world.

However, the one element that slightly faltered for me was the portrayal of the leopard woman. Her arc — particularly her involvement with Luo Wen — felt muddled and at times disconnected from the otherwise cohesive plot. It introduced a layer of confusion that momentarily disrupted the otherwise sharp narrative flow. Yet, even with that flaw, the drama never lost its grip on me.

What elevated  7 Relics of Ill Omen  even further was its subtle handling of romance. Rather than overwhelming the core sci-fi mystery, the romantic undertones were woven in with restraint, allowing the main plot to shine while still offering moments of emotional resonance.

In the end, 7 Relics of Ill Omen*isn't just another sci-fi drama — it's one of those rare shows that quietly sneaks up on you and leaves a real impression. It made me think, kept me guessing, and even made me care about the characters far more than I expected. It's hard to find a Chinese drama in this genre that feels this solid and well-crafted. Honestly, I was hooked by its ambition, the heart behind the story, and how well it all came together. I just wish more people had the chance to experience it the way I did.
