THE perfect mix of thriller, supernatural and romance! +gripping plot and great acting!
truth be told i started it for haocun and weilong, stayed for them and everything else. <3What I Loved:
* Chemistry between leads: haocun and weilong were the perfect fit for this! of course the romance isnt the main focus but it is there and is incredible! hongsha and yi wansan are perfect too! these four had me swooning all over!! i jst wished lou ren and mu dai could've had more of their enemies thing before falling into eachother but im still happy with their dynamic now!
* Emotional moments: everyone is an expectational actor, everyone's backstory was so well shown, i felt for each of the members in the phoenix squad, yi wansan and mu dai in particular.
* Suspense or twist: every episode ends on a cliffhanger and leaves you wanting more! the flow of one arc to the next is smooth and easy to follow, you dont need to have ur brain on overtime! everything comes natural and in such a fun way!
Characters & Acting:
haocun's acting (particularly in that one scene in ep 15 omg) is always my favorite, these characters which are so demanding are her forte! i did not know weilong could be such a natural in an action drama but i love it!! and man ao aui peng was the real show stealer for me, his character was my favorit, the best handsome loser comedic relief ever! and his acting is making me wanna check out more of his works! hongsha actress was spectacular too and chubby was amazing too, his and yi wansans funny moments were a cherry on top of this dark drama!
Direction & Production:
people said the CGI and editing was bad and sloopy, i disagree i think it was nice! or as nice as they could've done, the cgi wasn't that noticeable, like in some scenes sure but it did not ruin my experience at all personally so i am satisfied!
-all the outfits (esp MD and YWS's) were chef's kiss
-THE OSTS SLAPPP, the one they play during mu dai and lou rens cute scenes? it has my heart, such a catchy song
Weak Points:
unfortunately the censorship took away episodes worth of content :( i wanted to see more of lou rens backstory, more gruesome relic killings and obviously, more episodes, but im content with what i got!
-but OH, the second last ''villainous'', she took the fun out of LR's arc so much, her acting was quite terrible and cringe, in contrast with the other antagonists in the drama that had minor roles but were absolutely mind blowing. the leopards the only thing i hate abt this show
Final Thoughts:
this drama was such a fun ride! a 9.5/10 from me! would 100000% recommend
If you love thriller mystery dramas with a touch of romance , this one's for you. I’ll be thinking about these characters for a long time!

A true adventure series with emotions and connections ?
So just finished it, which took me a month to complete it and i definitely didn't expect it to be so good. Like the characters were written perfectly with good character development. The story was visibly expanding with each episode, where on ep1 i thought that the bar owner was the main master but was shocked when found out that it was just a part of one of their adventure and then the drama showed great consistency and each episode was anticipating and no boring moment. The locations, scenes, setting, visuals and special effects were satisfying enough. The casting was also very good and actor really did a great job.People might not try it due to the amount of episodes and a bit complicated start but once you pass 4 to 5 eps you'll definitely enjoy it. Would definitely recommend it to everyone 👍👍

Dynamic storyline keep it interesting
I find Chinese dramas can be so long I would skip some episodes but this show kept me interested. 32 episodes is just right in my humble opinion. It detailed each character and spent a little more history shot their value in the relationships of the main characters. Each story was unique which kept me interested. Just the right amount of comedy relief but avoided making the show mediocre. I enjoyed their acting except for some villains were a little far off. Overall a great show. Was this review helpful to you?
The five main young protagonists with varied personalities bring energy and camaraderie.
The Seven Relics of Ill Omen offers a compelling blend of fantasy, mystery and youthful heroism. While it may not reinvent the genre, it brings enough intrigue and ambition to be worth checking out—especially if you’re looking to explore Chinese TV beyond the usual romance or historical fare. If you decide to watch it and get to the midway point, I’d be happy to chat about how the story develops or whether it pays off the set‑up.Was this review helpful to you?
Suspenful
Wow, this was a good drama, suspenful, thrilling, and exciting. The actors were good and episodes flowed through nicely and story kept you intrigued.
I liked the relationship between Luo Ren and Mu Dai.. This wasn’t a romance story, but they had good chemistry and really clicked..
How can I not talk about their Hummer?? Just like the characters, the SUV went through a lot too.. They literally dragged it through a desert, dried lake, quicksand, mountains and it still survived..

A chaotic, cursed, and completely captivating ride!!
Okay—so at first? I was confused. Like, relics? curses? who’s who? what's happening?? 😵💫But the moment Luo Ren, Mu Dai, Yi Wansan, Chubby (Cao), and Mr. Kun came together to save Pingting, things got real good real fast. That bond? That chemistry? THAT JEEP?? Yeah, it pulled me right into the storm.
Their mission to collect the seven relics of ill omen was such a thrilling ride—each step crazier, deeper, and more addictive than the last.
What made it hit so hard though? Their friendship. Pure, loyal, and battle-forged. They weren’t just a squad, they became each other's home.
Mu Dai stole the show—brave, clever, effortlessly cool, and an absolute queen when it comes to hand-to-hand combat.
Luo Ren? Suspicious at first—mysterious and rugged with survival instincts on point—but turns out he’s got the softest, fiercest heart. Man + Jeep = certified adventure bae.
Yi Wansan was the perfect mix of comic relief and emotional gravity. Hilarious, but when it came to caring for Pingting or standing by Luo Ren—he was all heart. Loved his bromance with Luo Ren. That “help you get the girl” wingman energy? Chef’s kiss.
Chubby/Cao and Hongsha completed the squad like puzzle pieces. Their loyalty? Unmatched.
Episode 9? Peak squad energy. The teamwork, the chaos, the “ride or die” feels—everything.
And don’t even get me started on that Hummer H2 jeep. It deserves its own relic status, honestly. It’s that iconic. 🚙💨
The savage arc with Yi Wansan? Gut-wrenching.
The heartbreak when he mourned the savage, and the sadness that both he and Hongsha had no family left—ugh, crushed me. But the way they found comfort in the Phoenix Squad... beautiful.
The way they all saved each other—over and over—was just 🥹
From the rescue missions to the fierce fights (ep 23's MVP = Cao Jin Hua, no question), the ride never stopped giving.
And when Luo Ren fell into a coma after protecting Mu Dai? 🥲 The guilt, the flashbacks, the heartbreak—it all hit like a ton of relics.
Dark Mu Dai? A savage angel of vengeance.
Bright Mu Dai? The light we all needed.
Together? Iconic duality.
💘 Mu Dai x Luo Ren = power couple goals
⚔️ Hongsha x Yi Wansan = fighting duo with hearts of gold
The final battle, the sacrifices, the healing, and that warm, earned happy ending? Perfect.
Phoenix Squad forever. 🔥🕊️
This drama may have started in confusion…
But it ended as a tale of found family, relentless loyalty, and love that never quits.
A relic of a story, truly. 💫

Felt like I was reading an adventure novel!
I had this drama saved for Liu Hao Cun & the promising plot but I stayed for so much more! The opening & end credits are beautifully done.I loved the atmosphere of the plot. The story & cast had me hooked rather quickly. A few episodes in and it felt akin to visualizing an adventure novel in action - a reader's dream :D
The storytelling is fast paced, and the cast filled their roles rather well. Loved Mr Kun's eccentricities, Chubby's lighthearted acting, and discovered another enjoyable actor in Ao Rui Peng.
If I had to critique, it would be to improve the emoting in romantic scenes, however, I understand that that wasn't the focus in this drama.
Super glad that the team didn't compromise the plot, adventure & mystery. Thoroughly enjoyed watching the show! With shows like these, 32 or even 40 episodes feel like a breeze :D
Kudos to the drama adaptation! 🎊

Some parts good, many parts unsatisfying, but I never thought of dropping so ig worth watching
The beginning was quite good because of the characters and the premise...then it slowed down after the 2nd relic...and everything started feeling so, so repetitive at the 4th relic...then it got pretty interesting at the 5th relic...the 6th was interesting but the end was disappointing...then at the 7th relic it got pretty boring. But I wouldn't say I exactly regret this watch because the times it was interesting, it was quite good. It was just that besides the 1st relic and maybeeee the 5th relic, a lot of the relics got resolved in a rather unsatisfying way in the sense that everything just seemed to fall into place rather nicely.
Some scene transitions felt choppy. As for the team, they were moderately likable, but 13 thousand was barely tolerable. The Leopard arc could've had more time put into it and really was such a disappointment because it had so much potential to live up to how terrifying the backstory was (and I also agree that Leopard should've been dubbed better). And the last arc was actually just plain embarrassing.

Cured My Short Attention Span. Lol.
Let me put my thoughts here. This would've been a solid 10/10 if not for that questionable ending. I mean, I'm happy that it's a H.E. but that last episode really left me questioning things but despite that, the journey I had with this drama was amazing and worth the watch still. (I read some comments here before I binge watched this so I really was curious how this series ended before I got to EP1 but since I didn't check the ending first, I really felt like I am being left with an assignment to find out more... Lol)
Okay, let's start with the characters,
I personally think 4/5 of the team was casted perfectly. Everyone except MU DAI's actress. Not a fan of the others but I know Ao Rui Peng would deliver good acting since I have also seen his others works before and I like some of his acting in them. For Mudai, i like her chemistry with Lou Ren overall. I'm also fine with the romance blossoming in here even without kissing scenes which I personally think 1 kiss on a crucial moment would've been nice but I do know the actress doesn't do that. Nevertheless, they did the romance aspect quite good. Subtle and it doesn't take the main theme of the story.
However, my issue with her is when I need her to be acting her heart out sometimes, she doesn't do that. Again, ON SOME PARTS. If you've watched the series fully, I feel like some of you here would agree with me. She still did great but I guess there was this one episode I wanted her to really showcase her acting skills but I was left with just blank expression at that part but anyway, I guess for this genre it's not going to be a big deal.
As for the PLOT, I rarely watch Cdramas (especially modern ones) that I didn't have to skip or speed up. Every scene makes me want to pay attention even more in case I would miss out on details..so it definitely got me watching continuously because every end of episodes, they'd leave me hanging so of course, I'd want to start the next episode right away. It's really good! However, there were episodes that felt lacking and it did feel like the magic and mystery that the 1st 5 episodes gave were missing.. but still the story progressed quite good. Just leaves me now to the ending part.
What was the ending even about?
With All that build up, you would expect an intense fight just like how the fight happened with the 6th omen lady.. maybe even more intense considering how amazing the story in the 1st 5 episodes delivered but it was just really lacking in so many ways. For someone that's so called the leader of the omens, I'd expect an intense battle to have the 5 descendants comply with his wishes but no.. instead we just got to the illusions and then after these leads were out, it's like that's just it..
So overall, it felt like discovering a really good show with super incredible pacing and stories in it to be met with a questionable ending. Like yeah, it's HAPPY. I'm happy with them too but there are questions left Unawered for me.
P.S. I expected the chicken to have some important significance in the show actually considering the shadow appeared as phoenix but it also ended up just being a "warmer" on a crucial time when everyone's still in the illusion and while they're all in the mountain during the snowstorm. I find it weird but they could've utilise that chicken better aside from being the warmer and plucking out omen 6's eye (a.k.a the omen itself)
Anyway, that's all. This is still such a solid watch but don't expect too much on the ending I guess. Just enjoy the story build up and be happy It's a happy ending.

I love the Weilong and Hao Cun's tandem. They have undeniable chemistry since Just for Meeting You. This isn't a romance drama but how I wish they have one.
This drama is full of adventure and I love how Liu Hao Cun plays two characters here - one who is innocent and tough yet sweet and easily cries, and the other one is badass I-don't-care-about-you.
Hao Cun and Weilong became a couple in the drama, they're my comfort couple tbh.
P.S. This drama also casted a charmer. Don't let RuiPeng charm you in episode 17, cause I was. I watched because I saw reels about the badass Hao Cun and the handsome Wei Long, but I finished the drama crushing on Rui Peng. 😅
