Bái Mèngyán  白梦妍 (her birth name), was born in the year of the Wood Dog (狗) "People born in this year are characterized as honest, reliable, and polite, with a strong sense of justice. The Wood Dog year adds qualities of loyalty, sincerity, and growth to the personalities of those born in this year, enhancing their reliability, patience, and understanding." Her Western star sign is Libra, which brings a sense of balance and fairness, but also independence, since it is an air sign. 

She came from a working class family, was an only child in a close-knit family, and had her teeth fixed through orthodontic treatment, just like the Fènghuá character in Northward.

She is a native of a town on the banks of the Ancient Grand Canal, in the Wú 吴语 dialects (there are as many dif ferent ones as there are cities between Zhènjiāng, Yángzhōu and  Hángzhōu...) speaking region of the Jiāngnán, famous for centuries for good food and banquets, home-cooked dinners and dòushā bāo 豆沙包 buns, sugar cane juice freshly pressed at the wet market, where could be bought fat live chicken, fresh water shrimp, tasty fish, and all sorts of greens that are impossible to find in distant lands. Of course, a favorite dish is Dōngpō ròu (+recipe)- the famous Sòng dynasty poet  Sū Shì 苏轼 (art name Sū Dōngpō  苏東坡) who lived 1037-1101,   is associated with the city and left memories along the canal.  But if she still likes home-cooked dishes (she also enjoys to cook), she is also said to love hotpot, BBQ and dumplings, spicy dishes (she has many friends from Sìchuān) ; anyway, she can literally bulldoze through dishes, although she remains feather weight enough to astound colleagues in entertainment, such as in a variety show where she crept on a springboard high up over a pool of plastic balls.

Hot summers and chilly winters but delightful autumns with the scent of the yellow gold small flowers of the guìhuā trees blooming then, filling the air, dusty spring seasons with insects reawakening (tiger mosquitoes are a pest, but the dragonflies flitting around are nice to watch, as are butterflies in the parks where old people practiced qìgōng and tàijíjiàn... )  常州 is a big city and has boomed, with  10 universities, which offer 207 study programs, while 常州话 Chángzhōu huà (the 7 toned original dialect of the city) declined in favor of mandarin, taught in school and used on TV and radio. 

[Note: Chángzhōu is proud to have been the birth town of Zhōu Yǒuguāng 周有光 (1906-2017), a linguist and economist who created pīnyīn, the romanization system that was adopted by the PRC in 1958 and is now used since 1986 for transcribing Chinese words with alphabet letters, including in the UN and other international organizations. Pīnyīn is crucial for the pronunciation and teaching of Pǔtōnghuà, the standard form of Mandarin Chinese. And many schools in China used to have this injunction inscribed over the entrance gate : 请说普通话, "please speak pǔtōnghuà"]. 

Chángzhōu never was a backwater, and is now a Tier 2 city in China according to the unofficial city tier system (classification which reflects its economic development and population size, with a growing economy and a population of  5,278,121 at the 2020 census.)

She studied Tourism and English at the Jiāngsū Higher Vocational Technical Institute of Tourism and Commerce (Jiāngsū Union Technical Institute) in Chángzhōu, from 2012 to graduation in 2015 (but she is still not confident with English, instead she is with... Korean, after a long diet of Kpop songs and singing - she was an EXO fan). During that time, she tried to audition (with her mother's approval) for Korean SM as trainee, but was eliminated ;  from her efforts, she did gain fluency in Korean, and confidence in self-teaching. She strongly believes that  failures and setbacks shouldn't be dwelt on to be discouraged when these are encountered, but daring to "dream" and keep "chasing dreams" is necessary to keep moving forward on the road of growth.

Bái Lù  shared about her experience of attending a vocational college during the Keep Running Yellow River S2, Jinan segment, 1:35:29,  20211029 : although she did not get a job related to her studies, she could not complain about what fate dealt her.

The young beauty was scouted to shoot a short film for a literary magazine in 2015, and she soon participated in a series of 4 short films produced by Cat's tree 猫的树 studio, where she, in addition to the MV "Message" (see filmography above)  partnered with Wáng Xùdōng who remains one of her close friends.  She is also mentioned as ordinary friends with Zhāng Yìjié 张逸杰 who starred in her first 2017 drama King is not Easy, and she often chatted with Zhào Lùsī, after the two actresses met in 2018 Untouchable Lovers. 

In August 2016, Bái Lù officially signed with Huānyú yǐngshì Film and Television 欢娱影视(Yú Zhèng Studio 于正工作室) ; in September, she officially joined the filming of the mythological epic drama 《朝歌》(Zháo gē), still shelved for murky reasons. (It was related to the blacklisting of Zhāng Zhéhàn (which affected many dramas - but there may be hope to see it someday, since other "shelved" dramas like "The Fated General", although for other reasons, not ZZH taking part, are as of April 2025 envisioned as upcoming deshelved.)

In 《梦回朝歌》(full title of Zháo gē), filming from September 2016 to February 2017, she played the support role of the female general Dèng Chányù 邓婵玉. One month later, she joined the supporting team of  the drama《之大王不容易》(King is not Easy), released in August 2017.  Her breakthrough performance came in 2018 when she starred in the drama Untouchable Lovers, becoming one of the actresses associated to iQIYI platform, and reaping a series of awards from diverse horizons. Since 2017, she has played in about 20 dramas.  

Simultaneously, she has taken part in many variety and dozens of reality shows since 2019, such as Happy Camp 快乐大本营 [Kuài yuè dàběnyíng],  Keep Running 奔跑吧 [Bēnpǎo ba] (through several seasons, and upcoming S13, see picture and cast above) or Hello Saturday (Hi6 on Mango TV), gaining fame for her contagious uproarious and toothy laughter, her good nature and willingness to participate in goofy stunts, and her equanimous and frank approach, ebullient or poised and faithful, showing and gaining supportive friendship for and from many peers.  She is one of the few who do not pretend to ignore former colleagues or MLs. She is unbothered by CP rumors, even played with them like in the series of staged clips with emerging actor  Áo Ruìpéng (where she shamelessly grabbed his wrist and touched him! like she does with all her chums)  and is a valued addition to any party or reality show.

Yet, she can quip back, such as when Liú Yǔníng reported a backstage exchange on Scream Night 2024 when Dylan Wáng Hèdì looking at her, Luó Yúnxī wearing dark outfit and dark glasses, remarked  "Oh! we are all wearing black today," to which she joked "No wonder the four of us always get shaded!" - but that night, black was also worn by Tán Jiàncì and Chén Zhéyuǎn, who also were near her, and by  many others.  Like almost all c-ent celebs, she is unfortunately not immune to scolding from "water armies", although she usually scoffed them off, but her company protects her and recently a long number of Weibo accounts were closed because of cyberbullying and rumor mongering tactics.

As for dating rumors, like most c-ent celebs, she usually denies them, but let slip in a 2024 interview, when asked if she ever dated Xú Kǎi, that: "We have indeed been together." (Although since his breakup with another former romantic interest, he officially prefers to present his cats as his love interest!) She once quipped jokingly that her ideal type boyfriend was Jackson Yee.  She has been hyped in CP with Luó Yúnxī  罗云熙  who has been a close friend for years now, or more recently, with Zhāng Línghè   张凌赫, but despite they are from same region (ZLH is from Wúxī), relations seem to have much cooled down between the two since airing and hype of SoKP finished. Her rumor with Dylan Wang is one that is more persistent. But on his part, he had already been announced to marry Shěn Yuè, before this proved to be just a CP hoax (when repeatedly asked about it, Shěn Yuè replied she had "moved on"). Neither of these celebs may want to be wed to another celeb anyway ; many of the high profile marriages, when they happen, don't last long. Anyway, despite Bái Lù looks very open and outgoing, she does protect her personal life, so anything about real relationship will need to get her official agreement to be shared!

(*) good news for "DiLù" CP fans, Youtube vloggers announced a wedding between the two for 2025-10-10! But this still needs confirmation ; despite Bái Lù and Dylan are certainly good friends, it's a fact she is almost 5 years older than him, so this engagement may only be a wild rumor. What's certain is that both are "married to their jobs"!  

Chinese Starlet vlogger who was rather well informed about and sympathetic to Bái Lù did not even mention Dylan in her August 2024  bio video, but was putting her bets on Zhāng Línghè (that was still in the last sparks of their CP hype).  Anyway, as assessed elsewhere, there is "limited information about her personal life – No major controversies or scandals."

She is viewed as genuinely kind and nice, also low key participating in relief efforts for catastrophe, flood or earthquake stricken areas in several provinces (as mentioned on the Baidu page for her). She is very friendly with many people, not only celebs but also with interviewers, fans, and with entertainers such as young singer and actor Fàn Chéngchéng 范丞丞 (younger brother of now disgraced actress Fàn Bīngbīng  范冰冰) or  Sòng Yǔqí 宋雨琦, who take part in variety shows with dance,  like Bái Lù does.  Since 2024 she has been filming (2024 April 8-August 6) and promoting the drama "Feud" in which she plays with Joseph Zéng Shùnxī  曾舜晞 with whom she has become new friends.  Her personal and professional social circle is still expanding.
