I can't find subtitle for 1998 version. The 2001 version is on my ptw list.

Oh. I watched the 2001 and 2008 version. I didn’t add the 2001 one to my list, and I marked the 2008 version as dropped. I watched both on TV, and missed a few parts from the 2001 version and just watched a first half of the 2008 version. I quite enjoyed the 2001 version, but I don’t remember anything now except Dicky Cheung as Wei Xiao Bao. 😅 He’s one of my favorite actors, so maybe I’m biased.

There’s another adaptation released in 2014 with Han Dong as Wei Xiao Bao. This one is in my PTW list. Now I think I need to consider it with the 1984 and 1998 versions. :)

As I just researched, they say the plot in the 1984 and 1998 adaptations were closest to Jin Yong’s novel and were great. The 2001 and 2008 versions didn’t stay true to the original novel. And the 2014 version was less popular but I heard it’s also a good adaptation. Han Dong is a great actor.

Hehehe I see. I think Dicky Cheung was charming and funny as Sun Wu Kong. He's the most handsome one with all that furs.

I can only find subs for those three version I mentioned. 2014 version is supposedly available in Viki per mdl information, but I can't find it by clicking the direct link or searching it using "deer" in Viki. Maybe it's not available anymore or at least it's not available in my country. There's actually 2020 version with subs, but I never watch any of Zhang Yi Shan drama. Only know that he's Yang Zi's best friend. I better not taking risks. ~~I will start with 1984 version. If I find the plot interesting, I'll also watch the 2001 version.~~ Thanks again.
