Quantcast

2.Ballerina- FL's friend -This character's death initiated FL's revenge arc and drives the plot

3.Mouse- The doctor- A mirror (or foil depending how you look at it) to the protagonist. He was also used as red herring to confuse the audience about the identity of the serial killer

4. Juvenile Justice - the Judge (Kim Hye Soo)'s son

The Judge's son death caused her to become a judge for juvenile cases; which makes it possible for the drama to exist.

5. The First Ride - the fool #4 (Cha Eun Woo)

This character is actually already dead from the bus explosion after a crash, but as the story being seen from the mentally sick friend suffering from ptsd, the viewers feels this character is studying and later working abroad. The previous failed vacation is the drive of the whole plot. And the fool #4 is the plot device.

Ballerina's one reminds me of all leads' parents who died only to give leads a traumatic backstory/a reason to get revenge

the death, disappearance, kidnapping etc of a loved one or significant person is a common plot device to set up the main character's motivations. You can apply this to alot of type of plots (revenge, mystery, crime etc).

Yeah, I just remember the post on the Mother's Day like 'minute of silence to moms of the main characters who died to give their kids a tragic backstory' 🙈

6. City Hunter - 2ML is a prosecutor is there to help drive (?) the story.

7. I think you could make a case for the FL of Memories of the Alhambra turning out to be a plot point. I know there's an acceptable amount of screen time given to setting up the relationship, and she does have some substance, tastes, and goals of her own. But overall, she reminded me of her identical twin construct inside the game - decorative context for the ML.

8. I'm watching Joy of Life 2 right now, and given the intricacies of the plot in this series, there are several characters who appear and disappear to advance the plot. I feel like they gave Teng Zi Jing just enough backstory and motivation to have him serve as a motivation for the ML. And now that I'm on part 2, they're getting more mileage out of his family!

Tbh the twin from the game was more intriguing plot line 😅 I can't explain but I was mesmerized whenever she appeared playing that melody

9. Jewel in the palace

Jang geum's mother- her death and the injustice she suffered is what takes her to the palace and back again even after exile

10. Lighter and princess

Li xuns sister, her death makes him go to jail and turns a school romance drama into a revenge drama

Park Shin Hye is so beautiful! And the costume and mood are to die for, too. Come to think of it, there were a lot of visual treats in that drama.

10 dramas or movies you absolutely recommend and in which the characters play the game of Cat and Mouse. I'm talking about where people are outthinking each other back and forth. Strategy. Double fakes. Triple fakes. The long game.

2. Death note - all movies light and L's fight.

3. The witch subversion part 1

Let me continue the last theme with this:

10 movies/dramas with your favourite actor/actress over 70, at the time of filming. Please avoid mentioning those from the previous topic unless 12+ hours pass with no posts.
