You're a person of culture, I respect itArclei:
Why, thank You XD
Sure my rating system is different so sometimes I rate something I really enjoyed a 5Arclei:
I’ve got this super intricate rating system for BL dramas, but when it comes to non-BL dramas, my scale is basically MIA! I just dive into a drama, slap on a random score, if it’s not between an eight and a ten, and then the next one I watch, gets rated based on whether I think it’s better than the last ones. 😅
out of mind kinda adhd-erArclei:
OMG, this is totally me when it comes to any list—except for my completed list! I barely even look at my current watchlist anymore; it’s overflowing with titles, and just thinking about what to tackle next gives me a serious case of the jitters. And don’t even get me started on the PTW list! At one point, I seriously considered wiping it clean just to save myself from the stress. My drop list isn’t too long since I’ve had a strict no-drop policy for ages, but that’s about to change this year. And honestly, who even uses the not interested list? Why does it even exist?
Finding something with like 300 viewers and discovering it's incredible!!Arclei:
When I first saw Friends, it had fewer than 500 views, and I really loved that show. It just goes to show that viewer counts and rankings aren't everything!
I liked Kingdom quite a bit, Hiyama Kentaro no Ninshin which I'm not even ashamed to admitArclei:
Seriously, just the mention of Kingdom makes my blood boil. I’m still fuming about the fact that we won’t be getting another season. Can you believe Netflix had the audacity to leave us hanging with that cliffhanger and then just walk away? Their excuse for not renewing it—low viewership and high costs—is utterly ridiculous. There’s no way a show as thrilling as Kingdom had low ratings. I’ve watched my fair share of zombie dramas and films, and the only one that even comes close to Kingdom is Train to Busan.
Hiyama Kentaro no Ninshin do I spy, the modern version of Junior? 🧐
The School Nurse Files (even tho it wasn't goodArclei:
It's intriguing how opinions vary on this topic. Some individuals seem to have a strong aversion to it, while others are so convinced of its brilliance that they could pen an entire novel exploring every nuance.
Those show up at the most random timesArclei:
Haha, I actually researched the various types of MDL badges and the methods to acquire them after receiving the first few randomly. My curiosity was piqued.
I just dive into a drama, slap on a random scoreSimi_Tutu:
LMFAAAOOO, as long as it works XD
gets rated based on whether I think it’s better than the last ones.Simi_Tutu:
That's fair. I also compare ratings a lot... When I catch myself giving something a 9 but then an objectively better drama an 8 and I have to restrain myself lmaaoo
At one point, I seriously considered wiping it clean just to save myself from the stressSimi_Tutu:
I feel this in my bones... Sometimes it's the only way
who even uses the not interested list? Why does it even exist?Simi_Tutu:
It's me, hi, I'm the problem, it's me. I use it mostly to keep track of dramas I know for sure I won't watch: Example, sequels/prequels/adaptations of a title I watched and hated (because of the story, not execution), titles people warned me against, titles with themes I dislike (poorly written FLs/those red flag MLs/etc), and titles my besties watched and hated XD Mostly so that I remember not to check them again
It just goes to show that viewer counts and rankings aren't everything!Simi_Tutu:
yesss!! so many hidden gems out there!
low viewership and high costsSimi_Tutu:
whaaaa? I thought it was cause of the whole pandemic thing-- ISTG netflix has the dumbest reasons for cancelling shows... It's always the good ones that they cancel *sigh* must hate money
There’s no way a show as thrilling as Kingdom had low ratingsSimi_Tutu:
Nah, smells like bullcrap
Hiyama Kentaro no Ninshin do I spy, the modern version of Junior? 🧐Simi_Tutu:
Don't think I've watched that movie but I really enjoyed the drama
It's intriguing how opinions vary on this topic.Simi_Tutu:
It's one of those you either love or you hate it type of dramas. I'm on the former train 'cause I love wacky stuff and the leads were giving but I can't deny that the story was lacking in pretty much any explanation.
MDL badges and the methods to acquire themSimi_Tutu:
Oooo? Got any secrets to share?
I have to restrain myself lArclei:
Wanna hear a little secret? I tweak the old scores to make them lower so I can boost the new ones. 😎
Example, sequels/prequels/adaptations of a title I watchedArclei:
OK, I'm not sure why this didn't occur to me before, but this is actually a good use of that list😅
. It's always the good ones that they cancelArclei:
It's ridiculous how many shows get the axe on Netflix, often because they lose the rights to them. But let's be real, the main excuse they throw around is the "high cost of filming." They use that line constantly, even for dramas that are poorly edited. Honestly, it feels like they just don’t want to fork over more cash to the rights holders when a show starts gaining traction. And don’t even get me started on their so-called Netflix originals. Many of those aren’t even owned by Netflix! Even the ones they do own are often low-quality, with episodes that barely make it past a season or two. Since Asian dramas started trending, all these streaming services are just looking to cash in on whatever's hot online, only to yank those titles away later. That’s why I’ve stopped watching Asian dramas on Netflix or Disney+ altogether
Don't think I've watched that movieArclei:
If you're in the mood for some self-inflicted agony and fancy seeing Arnold Schwarzenegger with a baby bump, then this is totally your jam.😛🫣🫡
I can't deny that the story was lacking in pretty much any explanationArclei:
This narrative seems to be crafted with the intention of encouraging viewers to draw their own interpretations. Each episode is designed to be rewatched multiple times, allowing for the development of various theories about the plot. This approach enables diverse audiences to engage with the story uniquely. However, it may pose a challenge for those who prefer a more straightforward narrative that provides clear answers for a smoother viewing experience.
Got any secrets to shareArclei:
Some Milestones:
- Social Butterfly - This refers to reaching a particular threshold of friends on your friend list, which can also relate to the number of friend requests you send out.
- First-Time Watcher - This category is achieved by watching a designated number of dramas.
- Completionist - Similar to First Time Watcher, but this pertains specifically to the number of movies watched.
- Gift Giver - This title is earned by giving gifts to other users.
- Petal, Flower, Bouquet Sender - This involves sending flowers to actors and actresses.
I tweak the old scoresSimi_Tutu:
hahaha, I do this too xD
"high cost of filming."Simi_Tutu:
So just lower the costs T_T the price of these shows is absolute ridiculous and when you look at the quality you can only wonder where the heck this budget went
That’s why I’ve stopped watching Asian dramas on Netflix or Disney+ altogetherSimi_Tutu:
You do good. I don't have an account on either platform but from the Disney+ productions I watched, I found them to be overall more enjoyable
This narrative seems to be crafted with the intention of encouraging viewers to draw their own interpretations.Simi_Tutu:
That is not a bad take. I do agree that a lot of the points of criticism people have do seem to be done intentionally in the drama, and what you said makes sense. That in mind, I still find that it was inconclusive from a storytelling standpoint. It felt like it was missing at least 2 eps with how many things are just kinda left hanging xD
Some Milestones:Simi_Tutu:
Oooo, thanks for the info!
Simi_Tutu:
I was just curious if you had a chance to see my response to your goblin post on the last page. My replies to your comments tend to be quite lengthy, so I wanted to make sure I didn't overlook any notifications.
Thank you, yes I saw you comment on the dialogues between Kim Shin and Grim reaper. Those lines are indeed iconic. And the fact that Grim reaper finally accepts Kim Shin for who he is, before his death on the battlefield is even more moving. Hearing addressing him as your highness in very moving. Addressing someone as such also means putting oneself in a vassal position. For someone as cold and lonely as grim reaper, it is very endearing.
All the dialogues in this drama are very well writen. Thaks again. "Goblin" is one of my favs.

Did you come across any titles with RR?
That in mind, I still find that it was inconclusive from a storytelling standpoint.Arclei:
That's really disappointing. I found the concept of the story to be quite original, which is why I was eager to give it a try.
, thanks for the infoArclei:
It seems that after you post a new form a few times, you can receive a badge too so I'm currently working on that.
UPDATE ON SIDE QUEST FORUM! I'm considering naming the forum "Cozy Little Corner" as an RR Side Quest. I'm in the process of drafting the outline, but I'm struggling a bit with the introduction. I find the introduction and mission statement to be quite alike, yet I want to distinguish them into two distinct sections. How should I go about this? What ideas do you have for how the introduction should be presented? I'm confident about the mission statement; it's just the initial impression I want to create for visitors to the forum.
All the dialogues in this drama are very well writen. Thaks againunbeliebubble:
Have you heard the soundtrack that plays when the Goblin ascends the palace steps, or was it a shrine? Anyway, when he confronts Kim Shin in that incredible scene, I searched for it on Spotify, but I couldn't find it in any of the drama's OST playlists.

Search google for the album. you might find it.
Did you come across any titles with RR?Simi_Tutu:
Sadly no :(
I was eager to give it a trySimi_Tutu:
I'd say still give it a try 'cause there was a lot I enjoyed, but just don't expect a very conclusive story xD If nothing else, it's unlike anything else out there
naming the forum "Cozy Little Corner"Simi_Tutu:
Adorable, love it
How should I go about this?Simi_Tutu:
Do you want to send it to so I can take a look?
Brief (I said and then proceeded to write an essay) mention of the drama I just finished because it isn't all that RR but it has some vibes and it's heavy on the noona and there's no club for that so y'all gotta cope (affectionately) T_T
Nagatan to Aoto: Ichika no Ryourijou.
It has some RR elements like FL being 15 years older than ML, her being understandably more mature, and also the fact that ML is the one to move into her family (50s 'historical' but still uncommon scenario) but overall the couple fall more into egalitarian territory despite the subtle girlboss x malewife vibes (super supportive feminist husband and a girlboss wife accepting her coolness in a realistic way). I was waiting for FL to take the lead but they're both so soft-spoken that there isn't really anyone taking the lead, they're both just kinda co-existing together and learning and I'm ngl, it was cute asf. Soft power couple is like my new favourite thing. I found it refreshing that FL wasn't just a spunky kick-yo-butt, but seemed fairly realistic to how a woman in ye olden day would behave (especially one in her mid 30s), strong but soft-spoken.
I was caving historical noona and had this one recommended to me and now I want more but it seems to be fairly uncommon so here I sit with all my feelings xD
First drama that actually made me feel something in like.... 5, 6, 7? months ╥ˬ╥
Uhhh, because I feel like this is a wee bit off-topic... Have y'all heard of the song Monster Under the Bed by Emily Mei? Because it's peak RR and should be made into a drama 🙏🙏🙏
If nothing else, it's unlike anything else out thereArclei:
This series is quite brief, so I'll include it in my 2025 plan to watch.
Do you want to send it to so I can take a look?Arclei:
I appreciate it! I'll take care of that within the next three days. My week is pretty busy IRL now.
noona and there's no club for thatArclei:
I'm really surprised there isn't one! A lot of users, myself included, really love this tag. If my side quest goes well, I might just create one for all the Noona lovers out there!
FL being 15 years older than MLArclei:
This is the age gap I signed up for!
Because it's peak RR and should be made into a dramaArclei:
The level of Girlboss x Weak ML - Assertive FL x Passive ML I Hunger for in my RRs! 😂
Hello, I would like to join!!
Thank you @Arclei for making this club. I love how you made the first page look so aesthetic and informative. Also may I ask from what drama is your pfp from?
Fun fact: I saw the title of this thread in the hottest discussions panel and at first I thought that it was an R rated drama lovers club. 😅 But then I decided to click on it out of curiosity and found out that it's about role reversal, which I absolutely love! I can't believe I almost missed this lovely club lol.
Has anyone here watched The Midnight Romance in Hagwon? I'm currently watching it because of the noona romance (and thus I was hoping that it would have RR tropes) but idk if I should continue it since I'm a bit bored with it. Does anyone have any thoughts about it? I'm currently on ep 3.
I had no idea that "Love Scout" is a RR drama!! Added to my PTW immeadiately. 😁
Hello, I would like to join!!Alex:
Hello @Alex. 👋 | WELCOME
I have not yet watched "The Midnight Romance in Hagwon", but if it ressembles to its director former project "Something in the rain", there must be a lot of slow motion and musical interludes featured.
And the pacing might be slow as well. Not everybody can stand slow pacing. So if you don't like it let it go.
As for The RR, I have no clue. I only understood that it is a noona romance with ML's former teacher.
