Historical Dramas Club

Who here has watched Love & Crown with Ren Jia Lun?  Being six minutes into episode 44 I really really can’t wait to see the evil one - the preceptor - get what she so rightfully deserves. Dreadful woman,  Ling Xue Feng [Grand tutor of Qi]  described her perfectly before he died calling her a “mad dog”  she certainly is that and more.

Peng Xiao Ran  as Ling Cang Cang is good,  but Estelle Chen as Du Ting Xin is evil personified! 

I was hoping to hear that the Grand Tutor was lying and Du Ting Xin is not the daughter of the previous Emperor. Ah well, we can’t have everything.

I’m just living for the episode where just gets her just desserts!

Excitedly waiting for Cheng Yi's The Vendetta of An. Subscribed to Youku (quarterly) today to support the drama. Though probably I could only watch 1 episode since it airs so late at night here.

I'm looking forward to this one too and it's next on my list! 😊

I finished "Strange Tales of Tang Dynasty 3" a few weeks ago. Among the cases, I have a few favorites, a few that I don't like that much, but overall, it's a very good costume mystery drama with political intrigues, friendship and some romance.  I rated seasons 1 and 2 a bit higher, but I still highly recommmend S3! And looks like there will be a season 4 (not sure if it's confirmed). 

After SToTD3, I took a break from costume dramas and watched a modern one ("My Dear Guardian") for a change 😄. 

I'm currently watching "Shadow Detective", a Republican era crime drama starring Wang Xing Yue and Wu Jia Yi. So far it's good, some parts are interesting while some parts are just OK.  I have a few episodes left.

I finished Legend of the Magnate a week ago. It is a very good, entertaining and engaging drama. It skillfully blends fiction with history, and the cast are excellent, with special mention to Chen Xiao, Sun Qian, Luo Yi Zhou, Zhu Ya Wen and Julia Xiang! The location shoots and OST are great as well. I highly recommend this 👍. 

I'm currently finishing a modern drama, Wings of the Nation. Then I plan to start Glory starring Neo Hou and Gulnezer Bextiyar.

I still put The Vendetta of An on-hold 😅 but I'll continue it after 19 January, because the casts are legit and it's the only Cheng Yi 2025 drama I watched. Will preserve at least for him.

I watched episode 1 of The Vendetta of An, but can't seem to get into the story so I put it on hold for now. Love in the Clouds is also in my PTW list, but I want to watch Glory first 😊.

Hello, i guess we can consider silent tides as a historical drama. it's freaking good allen ren did an amazing job in this drama.

also anything like the legend of magnate out there? or a historical drama with family politics?
