Help me out, I've seen comments from LBGTQ/BL female watchers who don't seem to be attracted to 'real' men physically. So I'm curious, not including plot/entertainment/etc the one type of female viewer I know of is;

1) watching because they're attracted to men

 and

2) ?

3) ?

 ...?

NB: there is no judgement here from me, I'm not the sort who takes issue with people who like fluff or smut, whatever you like you like, it's all good. I like what I like and idgaf who thinks what, I'm just curious about how het female BL viewers feel about real men sexually/physically because it's interesting to me.

There's no definitive black and white in real life. In the same sense women are different within a country or location, moreso since worldwide. Fujoshi or women who loves watching/reading BLs can be straight, bi, lesb, etc. I'm straight and I watch BLs mostly out of story. I enjoy the friction/teasing/bromance part. Secondary the actors leading the story, then the production (I love works from Mandee/Domundi).

That's not the question though, I know all that. The question is more for het people anyway, asking would watch the same BL type stories with a het couple as the mains?

Apologies, I thought the question was for all the Fujoshi and not just for non-straight women =D and yes, if the story was starred by hetero couple, I would still watch the BLs I've watched. I've actually created a screenplay out of one of my favorite BL where I made the leads as a het couple and not BL

The question can't really be for ALL BL viewers, since not all of them are even women, but okay, so back to the basis of the question, are you among the female het viewers who are personally attracted to men or not? Because you say you're watching for the story but irl, the fact that they're male actors who you (possibly/probably) find visually/physically attractive has no basis?

 Aqua:

Speaking as a straight woman, I enjoy LGBTQ/BL stories because I'm just open to any kind of stories to be honest 🤣next year I'm planning to dip my toes on the GL world and see if I will vibe with it. I don't really have a strong reason as to why I watch BL, still figuring it out.  I also don't really separate gay love stories to straight love stories, I just see them as just love stories in general.

How did you start watching BL? I was introduced to BL because of my love for bromance.

(sorry to OP for hijacking 😅)

I am straight so I'm attracted to men. I watch not because of how the actor/actress looks (I watch not because I'm attracted to them) but if they are good actors/actresses and the story, and the production.

I have seen many female viewers say 'they don't really know why' , which I also find interesting but understandable, many people take time to figure things out and sometimes they still never really do. The main point of the question is would you watch the same BL type stories you've watched with a het couple as the mains?

I see, alrighty, thanks for answering :)

 Aqua:
First could be that BLs help us enjoy romance without having to project/insert ourselves because of the absence of a female character. Like, we are able to "escape" from reality for a second and just enjoy two people fall in love without it feeling "too real"

You have a point, I like this

This is such an interesting discussion, thank you for opening this up.

I couldn't quote the other post you made, MDL said it's too long, so I'll answer  here. That was an interesting answer, it highlights other view points too like you mentioned people wanting to watch something they will never themselves experience. That could go down as a good reason imo.

The point of inserting oneself into a scenario in a show, wondering 'what would I do?' is something I cannot personally relate to since I've never done that, whether I'm reading/writing/watching any movie/show, het/LGBTQ/BL/GL/etc, I watch the people in the show and that's where it stops. So I wonder then, if a lot of het females perhaps like BL for that reason you mentioned, not wanting to have to relate or think too much about what the female character is doing and so watching two men helps then detach it from themselves (even though het/gay relationships varying dynamics and emotional situations and feelings don't differ in anyway other than some physical elements). That could also be a good reason.

You've brought up two reasons here I find very interesting! Thanks!
