I'm between Mandarin and Thai. I plan to take a trip to Thailand at the end of the year or sometime next year, and I still have 5 years left ton my visa for China so I'm planning to go back before it expires-- learning some stuff would be useful ^^

Yeah, both interest me, too - and both are a challenge! If you opt for Chinese, it depends on whether you only want spoken (Mandarin) or also written (Simplified Chinese), but in any case, there are a lot more apps (and Youtube videos and learning materials) for it than Thai. In addition to Duolingo, I also pay for HelloChinese and DuShu, both of which are reasonably good if you want to learn to read it.

And just to give this post the pretense of being BL-related ...
