Just finished ep 1 of That Summer, and it's fun so far. I've only ever seen Winny & Satang as supports before, so it will be interesting seeing them as mls here. That said, Neo is who has my complete attention in the series. He is so dang sexy. I crush on him way too hard. Every inch of him is perfect and pretty, and his cute feet in flip flops is making me feral. Okay I need to compose myself ...I'm starting to sound like @RXinw lol

My Magic Prophecy - episode 9

This is a good episode. I think it teaches a good lesson; be careful of the people who call themselves your friends because some of them smile to your face while plotting your demise. Hate can be silent.

I never answered @Indie Art Girl's question of why I did not like episode 8, and why I am pretending it does not exist. It rubbed me the wrong way due to In's actions in the hours immediately following Thap being shot. I expected his insecurities to surface and I think he absolutely should be given time to to experience his feelings, however the immediacy of his absence and having Thap leaving his hospital bed due to said actions and absence, rubbished what they had built in previous episodes. It made me think that in future should anything come up he will be the first to step away, and Thap cannot be the only sure person in the relationship. That is a recipe for disaster.

Anyway, am I the only one who thinks JimmySea are a lot more intimate in terms of physical touch and kissing, than in their previous works?

It was me 🙋‍♀️ Thank you for the information.

Oh, do I?  😏 Thank you for the challenge, that was fun 😄

You are welcome.

 ZhouYanRan:
I tried really hard to avoid spoilers, but I've got a question, now that Shine has finished airing. I wanted to binge watch it, but it seems like it's an emotionally heavy drama and I'm not sure if I'm up for it now. So, is it emotionally heavy?

Yes it is very emotionally taxing. It has triggers and some scenes will cut deep. You definitely have to be in the right mental space for it.

I kind of agree with you. He was really swayed by the ex showing up and then overhearing Thap's mom say she would be happy if Thap & the ex got back together may have sent him over the edge emotionally. But still, one would think if your boyfriend was shot it would be hard to not be by his side.

I'm amazed at how many BLs are scheduled for release in the coming days & weeks.  Counting new BLs on my WTA list (my picks only, so there may be even more!), there's still 4 more coming in Sept and Oct will have a whopping 11 with actual dates and 2 more without the day announced yet.

When I have time I'm going to watch each pilot so I can choose which ones to watch as they air and which ones to wait for a binge watch. I'll post my list for Oct before the end of this month.

I feel like I need to reduce my CW list this week to make room for more! 😆

PS   I've started including pilot links to titles on my WTA list, as well as order all titles by release date first and the rest of the titles in alpha order. If u haven't seen my list yet be aware I also have a few straight dramas listed, but the majority are BL and they are ID'd.

Yes, I've been thinking the exact same thing.

 Indie Art Girl:

The four remaining in September are clear (“Journey To Kill You”, “Wicked Game”, “Lover Merman” and
“Air Moment”), and likewise the two presumed Octobers without announced dates ("Interminable" and "Cursed Love"), but I only count nine BLs with actual October dates on your list (not including "Blood Fighter's", the final story in "4 Destiny Project", which you don't plan to watch):  “Story of Bi Hyeong”, “25-ji Akasaka de S2”, “Punks Triangle”, “Love Never Sets”, “Me And Who”, “Therapy Game”, “Love Song”, and the second and third stories in "4 Destiny Project" (“Red Moon and Wine” and “Un-in Heart”). Is it possible that you double-counted "Interminable" and "Cursed Love", or am I missing two somewhere?

In addition to the titles on your excellent WTA list, here are six additional BLs which I've seen announced for October:
Notes:
(1) The first two titles (without blue link) aren't yet on MDL.
(2) Other than the last title, I don't yet see any international streaming platform announced, which in the case of JBLs can mean there never will be (at least officially).

"Oishii Rikon Todokemasu" (“Delivering Delicious Divorces”) – starting October 1, unclear if BL or bromance but looks promising
"Papa to Otoushi no Uchi Gohan" ("Papa & Daddy’s Home Cooking”) – JBL starting October 4, slice-of-family-life with little kids
Kare no Hitomi ni Utsuru Boku” ("Reflected In His Eyes") – JBL movie on October 17, looks rather serious
Shuugakuryokou De Nakayoku Nai GroMe reflected in his eyesup Ni Hairimashita” (“I Ended up in a Group I'm Not Close With on the School Trip” / “I Happened to Join a Group of Cool Guys on a School Trip") – JBL starting October 18, looks promising, school theme with cuties, lead actors familiar from other BLs (Sakae from "Although I Love You, And You?" and the other from "Smells Like Green Spirit")
My Secret of Seer” – Thai starting October 20, trailer looks pretty good, ghosts (timed for Halloween?)
Goddess Bless You From Death” - Thai (Change2561) starting October 31, presumably on iQiyi, PavelPhoo and MichealTopten

“Red Moon and Wine” and “Un-in Heart”)

I counted these two twice, lol. It was the middle of the night when I counted. I'm still up and it's almost morning here. ☹️ Whew that's 2 less to worry about lol.

Yeah I knew about the additional titles as well but good that you mentioned them. There's a few I'm not interested in. The three not on MDL yet are also on my off-line list to watch for.  I added the movie, thanks, but who knows if it'll be available as you said.

 Indie Art Girl:

That's what I figured. What you lack in mathematical skills you make up for with your creative/artistic skills and general charm.

Yep my math is almost at 0 skill level. You would think years of childhood math lectures by my engineer dad would have made a difference... 😆

Aww, I'll take the creative skills & charm any day, thank u! ❤️

Speaking of upcoming series...My Secret of Seer

We sure are in the ghost, vampire, shaman, and magic BL era rn!

I don't know that I want to watch this particular one because Khemjira exists and fits me better than what I see in the trailer for this one. It looks like a high-quality production, and the acting seems really great, but it doesn't feel like one I'd want to watch. Maybe it's the style of this particular one, idk. That said, I'm here for the onslaught of fantasy-themed BLs we're getting in general.

I am more than ecstatic about moving away from the persistent churn of university and high school, architecture and engineering students, workplace and office space, and co-worker and boss themed series we've been getting the past few years. There were many that were fantastic, particularly most recently Perfect 10 Liners and Fourever You, among others, but I was ready to move on from those being the dominant themes.

You in particular probably even remember that I was railing about it in here for a while a long time ago. I was really vocal about how the production studios need to start getting more creative and explore other themes, fantasy being one I especially emphasized.

I'm sure I'm speculating a lot here, but it almost feels like we have some production studio little birdies that hang about in BL forums to get a pulse on what fans are saying they are getting sick of and what they are asking for and take that back to the execs. If there are some studio reps among us, and if my speculation might be true, however remote a possibility, thank you. You're a legend! Either way, I'm super excited they are moving into and exploring more creative and fantasy themes. It's definitely the era of shamans, vampires, and ghosts and aligns pretty nicely with our fall season and Halloween this year.

I do remember! I would love to see other themes too, like sci fi and more historical, not to mention venturing further into wuxia and xianxia. And for sure interspecies couples!

Smth that I rarely see talked about in this context is interracial romances. I know Asia is predominately made up of one race (very generally speaking here) vs a melting pot like the US, but it would be amazing to have BL stories with diversity of skin color and ethnicities fall in love and overcome obstacles (or not) together. I suppose it could be complicated or sensitive, but isn't gender & sexual orientation a complicated and sensitive topic too?  Maybe this is a Western thing?

ETA:  For example an Asian Indian whose family relocated to Thailand or Japan or a French visitor becomes involved with a Korean and wham! I mean there are exchange students from all over so it wouldn't even be out of place in a uni BL!

I understand what you're saying. I think that the concept of doing something like that is great in general because we are definitely a very global society, so people from all different countries meet each other and fall in love all the time.

That said, as far as the BL dramas, I personally like that they're culturally specific to the relative country that they're produced in and reflect that culture and society and the homogeneity of said Asian countries.

But I think what would work to make that happen would be how KATSEYE did a multi-ethnic girl group on a K-pop framework and aesthetics for a broader audience outside of just being all Korean coming from Korea.

I think A similar concept could be done with BL dramas that could be a pretty good gateway for introducing a broader audience and Western countries to the genre in general but then also an on-ramp into the Asian countries' BL dramas.
