Khemjira finale
ok, so I may not have been as enthusiastic as others while this was airing, but the ending was perfect. I loved how they wrapped up the story with rampheung. There was a stand off but also finally empathy and a chance at eventual redemption. They never said she wouldn’t have to pay for her evil deeds but there was also recognition that her wrath came from deep pain. So she could finally try to pay off her sins instead of being permanently destroyed. I didn’t expect that. I just thought she’d be destroyed with the knife and that would be the end. I loved that the monk turned out to be her son! And that he could help stop her. I also loved that all the ghosts of loved ones showed up to help peem. Plus, if we had any questions about that part of the story, Charn asked for us and the monk answered!
khem and peem were also so lovely together as a couple. I adored how their NC scene was slow and sweet with just a hint of more spice. In general, I’m loving this trend for longer NC scenes. I think it makes them more meaningful. Plus I don’t feel like we just blinked and it’s over.and we also got to see their future together and how happy and in love they were. Yay! Mr. P may have elevated Namping to ” most dearly beloved“ but I’m elevating Keng to ”most beautiful (and sexy”) while Phuwin can stay “most extra beautiful.” but honestly I love both Keng and Namping And PondPhuwin.
as for Charn and Jet, their little discussion about first times was very cute, as was their conversation about being “faen.” It’s obvious they are also happy and together in the future too. Omg when Charn announced to jet’s dad that they were both gay and in love I laughed. It was funny that he felt the need to say it that way. It was also funny how the dad just said Jet was a handful. lol.
I agree with Mr. P that mandee’s contributions to the BL landscape this year have been fabulous and are really raising the bar in terms of making shows that give us amazing couples and everything else we want from a BL. Your Sky, the Next Prince, and Khemjira all had good stories, great characters, great NC scenes, and wonderful wrap-ups. While I may not declare any of these my favorite show of the year, they will all be on my favorites list and my rewatch list. And ThomasKong and KengNamping are some of my favorite couples ever. So yay for bringing them to us! I hope Mandee will continue to deliver great content and Domundi will continue to foster couples we love. I also hope that this is part of a larger trend we are seeing of high quality BLs on a consistent basis. As the memes say, “we are well-fed and happy.”
I gave Khemjira a 9.0
