It sure seems to be highly rated! I'm glad ur loving it! 😊

Yess thank you, I showed the recent episode to my friend and she was scared because off all the scenes with the ghosts.  I will admit, I did jump and get scared but it wasn't scary enough for me to get nightmares.

So I'm going to take a break from BL for a while. Although I do have some BLs in my currently watching.

I have decided to give Secrets Happened on the Litchi Island a chance again. The tiny font for subtitles irks me to no end though.

I'm going back to thriller, I think. Quite soon. Thriller and watching actor based series and movies like the main roles of Yamaken for example.

Fun!

PS: Last night I finished Kill to Love. Amazing series, got a star from me. It will remain on my mind for a while longer.

I also started reading Addicted (Heroin) novel. Very good but Gu Hai is really a black flag. So are Chi Cheng and Duan Zi Ang from RevLove and Kill to Love respectively. Love them regardless? Mostly.

yes, kill to love was a great series. secrets happen on the litchi island is an opposite kind of series, but soooo worth it even with the small subs. I watched on a tablet and managed. The Chinese BLs this year came back with an amazing array of high quality content!

i must say I like the black flag characters too. Maybe my life is so tame I like imaging dangerous love? Who knows. they are certainly hard to look away from for me. But they have to be motivated by underlying passion and love, otherwise they’re just evil.

Thanks Dora and Mr. P for the feedback on The Love Never Sets . I watched the first 2 episodes and I’m really enjoying it so far. I like the story, I know it's different from the norm and touches sensitive topics, but that's what I like about it. The acting and the chemistry are good so I'm sold. Also, the girl who plays Sea is so attractive!

Glad you’re liking it

Agreed on both counts. I liked the black flags in Chinese BL we got this year. Really interesting to see that dynamic play out and all. It doesn't get boring after a while. Also Chinese BL does surpass all other BL out there, even Japanese BL. I think if they will release more gems like RevLove and Kill to Love, Chinese BL will become the best ever.

As for me, today I had a day of watching RR (role reversal) titles. I watched part of a mini-series, a movie and 2 episodes from two different titles. Gotta say RR must be one of the most favorite genres/themes ever. I am definitely enjoying my time. It's too bad there aren't as many RR titles out there.

 chirisu:
role reversal

Oooh, yes. This is a theme I'm also keen on!

RR series.

what does RR series mean? :)

What's the difference between "black flag" and "red flag" ? Please enlighten me ! 🙂

Now that we've learned what RR stands for (thanks Chirisu !) does anyone have drama recs from this genre ?

 Indie Art Girl:
I don't judge what other's like to watch. If anything I'm a bit envious that it's easy for some to watch almost any kind of genre or storyline. I feel like a wimp at times but that's my reality. 🤣

I totally get that. Everyone has their own comfort zone when it comes to stories and genres, and there's nothing wrong with that. It doesn’t make you weak, just human and it takes strength to know your limits and be honest about them. I’ve been trying to branch out more lately too. Like @Dora said so well, I also believe stories help us explore our feelings about all kinds of life experiences, especially fear, in my case. The only thing that really gets under my skin is when characters drink like there’s no tomorrow and how alcoholism is portrayed. I grew up with an alcoholic father, so that hits close to home.

Black flag is worse than red flag. Red flag is unhealthy relationship ahead. Black flag is willing to murder for you. Think p’Sorn from my stubborn as red flag (eventually reformed) and Vegas from KinnPorsche is black flag.

The End of the World with You

So glad you gave this series a shot! For me, it’s a little gem. It really stuck with me in a way I didn’t expect. It’s a deep dive into mental health, beautifully written, with deeply moving and emotionally powerful performances that lead us to deep reflections on the meaning of life, on ourselves, on our relationships, on the world we live in and the way we carry our pain. I also agree that the bond between the characters didn’t feel like a typical ‘found family’ trope, but more like a deep need to be understood without judgment. Another highlight for me is the opening song. It captures Masumi and Ritsu’s story so beautifully. It’s like a balm that soothes you through the show’s emotional intensity. And the singers’ voices are so peaceful. If anyone’s curious, you can check it out here.
