I really enjoyed this one, despite some (mostly minor) flaws. The leads were really good. It's a shame that Tod Techit no longer seems to be pursuing acting. (For those scared by the title, don't be: It's not scary.)

BL Challenge Day 28: Is there a [BL] drama from this year whose story or character made you learn something new or change your perspective about something

"Chosen Home" - I accidentally answered this question six days ago, see p. 2491.

I honestly wish it were scary because I do love horror.

Coming in 2026 - For BL horror and vampire fans:

 Indie Art Girl:
And this short BL from China just started yesterday on YT

Sculpted Light

This looks promising - although I'll probably wait and binge-watch.

"Love Alert" starts today on Gaga, the last BL of 2025 that I know of. My gut tells me that it will be a cute trainwreck (i.e. the kind that I perversely enjoy).

By the way, @Art Girl, I'm now finishing ep. 5 of "Dating Game" and liking it more and more (not least because I'm starting to get more of my most extra dearly beloved Fluke Natouch). Having the good fansubbing (instead of the atrocious regular subtitles) makes a critical difference.

DECEMBER BL CHALLENGE 2025
Day 28: Is there a drama from this year who's story or character made you learn something new or change your perspective about something

Revenged Love! Literally everything about this drama is about learning something, not necessarily new, but there's definitely something to learn while watching it. I can't describe it more, but all in all, this drama has it all. I also made a feed post about this question from the end of year challenge (on feeds) but I'm too lazy to go find it. >_<"

Their relationship seems ambiguous sometimes.

ah, thanks :)

 ssangrieul:

I finished the book today, and I'm starting the show rn !

i'm planning to read the book, if i can get it. do tell me if the tv series did justice to the book. thanks!

 Italophilia:

RE: Heated Rivalry. It's book 2 of the Game Changers series by Rachel Reid. The TV show covers some of the other books as well. Book 1 is Scott and Kip's story. Books 2 and 6 cover Shane and Ilya's story.

oh, this i did not know. i thought there's only 1 book lol. thanks!

I just checked out the books on Storygraph and thought maybe I'll just watch the series. I don't even know if I'll like it? We need more men writing gay books that's for sure.

maybe watch the series first before deciding if you want to read the book. the series is signed up for 3 seasons, could be more maybe. i'm still undecided if i'll read the book as i'm still finishing up on another lol. with my stubborn, i enjoyed the series, and i enjoyed the book more

oh I tried reading the novels of Bad Buddy and Not Me way back when but gave up fast. I'm even struggling to finish MXTX novels tbh

idk what to say about Heated Rivalry, maybe if I watch all 3 seasons back to back? I'm just gonna wait

The last western movie I've seen was Deadpool (earlier this year? or in 2024?) and idk if I should watch more of anything. I deleted my letterboxd acc (unrelated to the series HR lol)

I think western series have a place in my life but I've not yet discovered where. But as I have drama slump, maybe I'll give up on dramas, too. who knows

for now I'm just taking a break. technically break is over on Jan 1st, 2026. But I wish it was longer

Break from school/work or watching dramas? =D I'm not into western BLs myself, and I've watched way less western shows this year compared to the previous years. And I really didn't plan to watch Heated Rivalry, much less getting hooked by it, but I was glad I got tempted from the FB teasers I've been seeing lol

 jazme:

Well, I graduated in July and since then I tried to find work but failed. I'm thinking I'll try again in 2026.

But I meant a break from dramas since I'm in drama slump land. :(

Yeah ...and I remember how much of a train wreck Bad Guy My Boss was, same actors I think?  I had to stop watching. It does seem like the last one for 2025. I was really hoping that  Xiang Xu Ji would air this month but I guess not.

Good to hear! I've got it on my PTW list. I'll binge watch later.

Is this about Heated Rivalry having 3 seasons? Sorry trying to follow the convo. Cuz if so does that mean the ending is open?
