@Italophilia

ive read Alexis Hall but otherwise not heard of the authors on your list. I will check them out! I can’t believe you e read 200 books! The most I ever read in a year was 100. This year it’s under 30. But I am in a romance book group so that keeps me reading something all the time. In my group we read at least one M/M romance per year, but i usually read more than that.

Dec BL Challenge Day 28–A Drama That Made Me Learn Something New or Change My Perspective on Something

When It Rains, It Pours

This drama really stuck with me all year. It made me think a lot about the role of physical intimacy in a relationship and how important it is for each person. I’m trying to understand how different people can want different amounts of intimacy or no intimacy in their lives (asexual). For both myself and several people I am close to, this has been a journey that has changed as we age or deal with barriers like health conditions and depression. I have also been thinking a lot about how watching so much romance and BL might affect my expectations or desires. And also I have been thinking a lot about fantasy vs reality. Fantasy is so much easier than real life, of course!  (My spouse said it’s ok if I post this. Sorry, I’m the queen of tmi.)

Another show that I learned from was: The Cursed Love

It wasnt so much the show itself but I recognized Hindu mythology in the story so I started reading up on Hindu influence in Southern Thailand. I also read about Theravada Buddhism, which is what’s practiced in Thailand. In general I have been trying to learn more about Thai beliefs because they seem to play such a large role in stories from Thailand.

To My Shore eps 13 and 14

i am dying! Will Fan Xiao redeem himself? . Their chemistry is so palpable but so much has happened to these characters. I can’t believe next week is the final episode! I’m assuming they’ll get back together but what if they don’t?! Im not sure I can stand it. This has been a great show, though. China for the win again (as long as we get a decent ending.)

DECEMBER BL CHALLENGE 2025

Day 28: Is there a drama from this year who's story or character made you learn something new or change your perspective about something.

Lying is never a solution in the long run. A few bl match this sentence but I will choose The Wicked Game

Punks Triangle taught me that its best to act on your better intentions sooner rather than later.

Just started My Magic Prophecy. Not only is it filled with green flags, a cozy soothing vibe and fun main characters so far, but I feel like GMMTV got a boost in budget with this one. Their works have always looked good but something about this show so far looks extra polished.

BL Challenge Day 29: Favourite trope/theme from this year's dramas

Although my usual favourite BL trope/theme is young first love (e.g. in 2025 "Your Sky", "Boys In Love", "School Trip", "Takumi-kin" among others), another that I find quite interesting to think about is what it would be like to fall into a relationship with an established idol or celebrity (e.g. in 2025 "ThamePo", "My Bias is Showing", "FC Soldout", "Top Form", "Punks Triangle").

Healing is also a nice theme (thinking here of "Therapy Game"), along with the dilemma we saw twice this year of an innocent, inexperienced cutie struggling to choose between three suitors ("Secret Relationships" and "Peach Trap").

The more I look back upon my 2025 watch list, the tougher this choice becomes!

God I LOVE Winny, he's so damn goated! His charisma and confidence level is insane. I'm on ep 7 of We Are on the haunted house scene with Satang. The way they did this scene and the cinematography and the music choice is chef's kiss! He's such a badass!

I know I'm late to this group, but I'm interested to join as well.

JoongDunk new series on Netflix

I currently forgot the name for it but I had posted about it here asking for help for my friend who lived in Europe.

I want to thank everyone who helped.

To anyone who still needs help, what I learned is double check if you are one of the countries for Netflix and two you had to change your Netflix. Account from your native language to English and then it should work.

I find it really weird that you have to change the language to English but here we are.

Hi and welcome to the group! 😊

If anyone's looking for a watch challenge to start your 2026, I came across this fun PTW Challenge. No time limit. It'll help reduce your PTW list. 😆

The "Side Missions" are my fav part. I picked out each drama title according to the criteria and added it to my challenge chart. I'm ready for 2026 with a specific list of dramas to watch. No decision making needed, at least not for awhile, lol.

Strange indeed. I learned something new, too!
