I can’t help but chime in on the BL recommendations, but I would also suggest comparing the ratings you’ve given ones you’ve watched with what others here rated them. Then you can figure out if you have to same taste or not. I was looking at my favorites list and realizing it doesn’t totally match my own ratings. Because shows like Spare Me Your Mercy are brilliant but also emotionally difficult so even though I rate it high I don’t add it to favorites. And some shows that are not the best shows I’ve seen are still ones I love and rewatch, so those go on my favorites list. Anyway, here’s my list just to overload you with even more info, lol:

Dora’s Favorite BLs

thank you for the advice dora it's really helpful , it reminds me that we can all rate things differently & that we all have different tastes which can effect this so I will take it into consideration. I'm sure most of what is recommended to me will be a good watch & even if it doesn't seem like my cup of tea I don't have to put it down as a need to watch , I could possibly end up changing my mind & coming back to it later too. I don't have a particular taste in bl & I'm not super picky , as long as their is decent chemistry / storyline I will most likely give it a go so I think that makes it easier for others & myself.

I'm up to date so I'll stop now , sorry if it felt like I was spamming 😭🤍😅❤️

I really feel something is going on between those two & with it being very much like another bl watching experience , I added it to my list thinking that it should have a spot on there ❤️

I felt this way about two entries on my list that are not labeled BL, but I felt strongly that there was more to their relationship than mere friendship:

  1. Running Like a Shooting Star: Qi Tian and Xue Yi Ran
  2. Wuliang: Po Xiao and Feng Ren

Burnout Syndrome episode 7

It's sooo messy!! None of them are capable of figuring out and dealing with their own feelings. It's a never-ending red flag circus. Jira obviously likes Koh but he's so damn stubborn to admit it and Koh likes Jira, but he's afraid to lose Jira and makes everything worse by manipulating him and Pheem... I don't even know what's going on with him.. at some level he likes Jira but I think he's holding on a little too much bc he's got a huge ego and doesn't accept to be rejected.

I'm starting to feel very frustrated and upset because the storyline is not moving anywhere... we haven't seen character development from either of them and the relationships have also not made much progress. Even if I love KohJira, I think at this point neither of them should be together bc they're not ready for commitment. All of them need to go to therapy and work on themselves!

Nevertheless, the OST is freaking fire!! All the songs are so good and well fitting for the drama vibe. Also the cinematography and settings are stunning! OffGun is chemistrying and Dew is absolutely gorgeous! They're all incredible actors and always give 100% in every scene... that scene in ep 6 was so intense that I needed to pause multiple times bc I was too afraid to watch (yk what scene I mean)

 blsymphony:
indeed binchan aha , idk where I can find bl gifs to send so I went for skz 😅❤️

I do that sometimes too, lol

Both look like I would enjoy watching. Added to my PTW list! Thanks!

@iota

thank you for mentioning Kinnporsche & Top Form as they are on my plan to watch with others so hearing that these are on your favourites & you highly reccomend them makes it easier to prioritise over others. this helps me as it means I won't struggle as much trying to decide what to watch next 🤍

ofc!! i'd love to hear your thoughts when you get around to watching them <3

 blsymphony:
ahhh I'm so excited to see these two , it totally feels like a role switch between them also it looks great , it will be hard not going into this one without high expectations ( no matter the bl even if their is high potential / hype just before I start watching I go in either with low expectations or don't have any at all because then if it's not good in general or for you personally any likely disappointment is avoided )

i feel the same way. but also Love Sea still cleared a 9.0 rating for me pretty much just based on FortPeat's chemistry and good looks alone 😂 so there's a decent chance i'd still enjoy it even with another meh plot

Dao & Offroad - So sweet!

Warning: lots of screaming

I noticed a new Japanese movie coming to Netflix USA Feb 10 called "This Is I".  It's based on a true life story about a doctor and a young man who wants to become a woman.  I don't see an MDL page, but maybe there's a Japanese title that's not on the Netflix announcement. Anyways, it looks good and the tags are encouraging: "Heartfelt" and "Inspiring".

guys finallly exams week is over, I have time to watch dare you to death..how are you guys?

Too sweet for words! I'm so glad that Daou's hair has grown back out.

Good advice. I find it really helpful to get a feel for which members have the same BL tastes as me. (Looking at you, @Dora!)

Same - although in my case, I give 10's so liberally that one wouldn't necessarily see this distinction between "dramatic quality" and "personal enjoyment" from my ratings.

We're getting quite a lot of BL/gay "reality" in January: In addition to "The Boyfriend S2" (now airing on Netflix) and "DMD Friendship: The Third Chapter" (now airing on iQiyi), "His Man S4" will begin airing next Friday (23 Jan), also on iQiyi.

I love the three seasons of "DMD Friendship", but needless to say, it's more "highly scripted pseudo-reality to  promote our new generation of BL actor-cutie-patooties" than "spontaneous reality among a bunch of (mostly) non-actor gay guys thrown together to see if any relationships develop that actually last beyond the final episode" (i.e. real-life gay matchmaking rather than staged BL).

In this sense, "The Boyfriend" and "His Man" are quite different from "DMD Friendship" - which is fine with me, as I like the variety.

Note: The eight guys in this poster are from S1, not S4.

Hey there! I was thinking 'bout u the other day and hoping all was well. 😆

I started Khemjira and got to EP 8 last week. The last few days were interrupted by life stuff but I hope to finish it before the end of this month. It's a "self-imposed" challenge to watch one full horror drama without dropping it, lol. I've come close but I'm still hanging in there. 🤣

Enjoy Dare You to Death and ur time off from exams!
