Note: The eight guys in this poster are from S1, not S4.

I was wondering about that... 😆

 UrYaoiholic:

guys finallly exams week is over, I have time to watch dare you to death..how are you guys?

Nice to see you back

 blsymphony:
thank you sooo much for your recommendations , I will note these titles down now so I don't lose them with the speed of the replies. I think at times when you discover a show & watch it's not always labelled as a bl or supposed to be , but it can feel very much like one & that's when I think do I include this in my list or not.

You're welcome happy to help. I agree it depends also on how the audience perceive it.

 blsymphony:
ahhh I'm so excited to see these two , it totally feels like a role switch between them also it looks great , it will be hard not going into this one without high expectations

Same the role switch seems so interesting to me we're gonna discover a different dynamic of this pairing and it's giving me high expectations. I can't wait.

Yay ! Now you can relax it must have been stressful.

@benizakura

i agree with everything you said about burnout syndrome. I would only add that if no one can behave without some problematic behavior, just give us more heat and I won’t care. Actually, I don’t mind red flag characters but I got a little tired of pheem’s self pity this episode. He can’t accept not winning, is my take.

side note, loving that everyone seems to be wearing few clothes regularly, since they’re all hot. Dew is the most gorgeous but gun is the best actor and OffGun just have amazing chemistry. Im ready for more progress!

i was wondering if anyone has good bl's (using this term broadly) they've watched with a more indie vibe?

Indie titles are rare. I haven't seen Gelboys so I can't compare but I think these titles are indie or has indie vibes

Clearly indie:

  • Restart after come back home (japanese film)
  • Lan Yu (hong kong film)
  • Queer movie butterfly: the adult world (korean short film)
  • Uninvited (korean short film)
  • The journey to killing you (japanese drama)
  • I go to school not by bus (hong kong short film)
  • What to say (korean short film)
  • Step for you (korean short film)
  • I just want to see you (japanese drama)

Indie vibes:

  • I told sunset about you/I promised you the moon (thai drama)
  • Moonlight chicken (thai drama)
  • Like in the movies (filipino drama)
  • When it rains, it pours (japanese drama)
  • Where your eyes linger (korean drama)
  • Life: love on the line (japanese drama)
  • His: I didn't think I would fall in love (japanese drama)
  • Red Balloon (taiwanese drama)
  • Gameboys (filipino drama)
 iota:
regardless of style i really like to see unconvential relationships so i'll take recs that fit just that too if anyone has any suggestions :)

Unconventional relationships are truly intriguing. I wasn't sure what you consider unconventional so I added the reason why I think they're unconventional and you can decide if that reason is enough for you

  • Never Let Me Go - rich heir x bodyguard
  • Moonlight Chicken - realistic imperfect relationships (mild)
  • Ossan's Love Thailand - boss x subordinate x co-worker love triangle (mild)
  • You Make Me Dance - debtor x landlord (mild)
  • History3: Trapped - police officer x mafia leader
  • History4: Close to You - disturbing dynamics
  • History2: Right or Wrong - professor x single father
  • Cupid's Last Wish - body swap (mild)
  • Color Rush - soulmate system
  • Gameboys - almost entirely online romance
  • Lan Yu - wealthy businessman x student
  • The Novelist/Mood Indigo - problematic dynamics; sexual manipulation, emotional damage etc. (these dramas wasn't for my taste but could be for you)

I checked your dramalist so there shouldn't be any overlaps

fr more heat and more progress would be appreciated!!

 Benizakura:
Indie titles are rare. I haven't seen Gelboys

I would definitely call "Gelboys" indie (in the best sense of the word).

"Secrets Happened on the Litchi Island" (which I don't see on Iota's watched list) is *the* low-budget indie masterpiece of 2025. Highly recommended.

"Eighth Sense" (@Iota, not on your watched list) feels very indie and is one of my all-time favourite KBLs.

A lot of JBLs have indie vibes, although I often find it hard to distinguish between "indie vibes" and "JBL vibes".

 Benizakura:
Moonlight chicken

I'm not sure I'd dare to say that anything from GMMTV can have "indie vibes", but "Moonlight Chicken" is one of my all-time faves. Highly recommended.

 Benizakura:
Moonlight Chicken - realistic imperfect relationships (mild)

"Moonlight Chicken", "See Your Love" and "I Hear The Sunspot" can also be called unconventional relationships because each involves a deaf protagonist. All three are excellent (and @Iota, I don't see any of these on your completed list).

thank you so much!!!!!! that's really helpful, i'll be checking these out for sure <3

 iota:

i've been getting caught up on burnout syndrome, i'm loving it so far! everyone's chemistry is so good

I want to watch burnout syndrome but I feel like it's too much for me based on some of clips Ive seen

Yes to all Mr. P’s recommendations! I 100% agree.

You're probably right cuz those aren't low-budget 🤔

You're welcome!! 😊 Don't kill me if they aren't indie enough 😂 My judgement can be off sometimes!
