When i first started watching watching gbyfd, i thought it was a perfect mix of khemjira and dare you to death but as the episodes started to air of both gbyfd and dytd, the difference was astronomical imo. The heart killer was a dime in a dozen and i was hoping for something similar with dytd. the story had potential and the cast in it was some of the best ones and thats the only 2 compliments i can give. the balance between romance and investigation was not as balanced in dytd. i can forgive the "falling in love in the first ep" trope just bc its as common as in any other dramas. but the consistency of romance was lacking with joongdunk and im sad to say that i didnt feel their chemistry as much as i did in hk and i blame that on the director!!! even if gbyfd was lacking in some manners(investigation dramas are bound to have some loopholes), it never affected the quality of the drama. each episode was entertaining and it didnt feel dragged out. just that the ending was rushed and we didnt get to see p'tin as an investigation officer.

I really like fluffy and fun BLs, but I can also watch a serious drama, but the more intense the harder it is. It depends on the content.
I believe The Paradise of Thorns is a sad story (?) so I've avoided it so far. But I watched Shine (the ost is playing rn, lol) and that was mostly serious. I had to break it up a bit but I consider it one of my top favs along with Not Me and Love In the Air.

I really like Angst and Emotional Depth/Complexity in shows so I'm eager to give Paradise of Thorns a watch now.

OK, I finished it - and not surprisingly given our high overlap: I loved it and likewise think it's a real gem!
As much as I adore the usual BL fluffy cuteness escapism, it's nice to have some change from my familiar comfort zone. Original story concept, well written, acted and executed. I found it an engaging and genuine drama but also thought-provoking to put myself in the shoes of Le Jian (or Amber). How would I have reacted to this situation at that young age? (Probably not well, to be honest, but it was a different era back then. I'd like to think I'm a better person now.)
It was interesting. i was really fascinated to see a drama with a presumably intersex character. But unfortunately it seemed like she/he didn’t get much say in the matter, and was simply told to transition to male. This bothered me but I also felt sympathetic to the parents as it’s a complicated situation. Nonetheless the love story was touching and handled well, I thought. I found it very moving. I’m so glad you liked it too.

I can definitely relate to all of this right now. 2025 was such an incredible year filled with so many great series. It was an overwhelming year in the best way possible. I definitely gave myself a few weeks from January into February to mainly do other things and leave BLs on pause temporarily. I think that's why I'm struggling to get into anything right now and even a big reason I sputtered in and out of trying to start Fourever You Part 2. I also didn't start Cat for Cash or My Romance Scammer when they began airing or even try to watch the episodes as they had been coming out, but I'm caught up now on everything and looking forward to coming episodes.

If you enjoy "Third Chapter" anywhere near as much as I did, it'll breathe BL life back into you and make you eager to see the Gen 5's in the upcoming series. As with the last two seasons of "DMD Friendship", "Third Chapter" calls itself reality, but it's more a carefully constructed and very effective promotion of Domundi's new roster of cutie-patooties. (My special fave: Otto!)

Just finished EP 2 and wondering about one more ep. before sleep. A question I ask myself almost every night.
I like that's it's about matching as acting couples, not rl dating couples. Less pressure. I don't have a fav yet. They're all great guys, but for now I'm impressed with Wave, Otto, and Copper. Otto reminds me just a bit of NuNew.
As with previous seasons it is nice getting to know the guys and watching them grow through their first drama roles and stuff. Lots of great BLs and some new actors/couples to look forward to in 2026!
