Indie Art Girl:
I posted ur game in this thread on the BL group

omg thank you! I had no clue such a thread existed lol

Mira:
No way, Pit Babe is an omegaverse??? I had no idea at all, the description didn't give it away TT

Yeah, and that's why I like the series. They didn't focus too much on it and created a whole other story to push it aside.

And 10 min later I saw Tiffany's and RX's comment about Don't Be Too Emotional and not only did I start watching ep1 but now I'm addicted!

I also forgot I wanted to start Knot. My watching list is a never ending story.

There are days when I'm very tired of myselfโ€ฆ

Be careful you might end up like me and have the intro song stuck in your head all night. ๐Ÿ˜†

RXinw:

I love being a bad influence ๐Ÿ˜Œ

actually I should thank you, I'm not super happy with my watch list right now and Don't Be Too Emotional is definitively well above every other Thai ongoing series I'm watching right now. After completing Magic Move, Love of Silom and Your Dear Daddy, I'm in need for something better.

Don't Be Too Emotional for Thai and Winter Sun for non Thai !

ElementalStar:

I'm stay home sick today. ๐Ÿค’ Maybe I will finally finish War of Y. Got 5 more episodes.

I hope you will get well soon ๐Ÿ˜Š

Tina:
Made a game where there's some BLs. Please check it out!

The winner was Love In The Big City for me ๐Ÿ˜

In general at least for me the conflict of these real actors playing AOB comes from the dilemma: as concept in fanfaction it can be fun to read about, but when you see real ppl acting in a series it just shows the issues that the concept has ranging from consent related stuff, enslaving someone bc of biology, to the somehow normalized violence that is common in the stories based on AOB and many more....

I think it's a real challenge to balance out what is actually still tolerable for ppl to watch vs. how obvious the AOB concept is. Comparing Pit Babe and KNOT shows this really well: if you faded into the background too much, ppl won't even realize its part of the plot, but when it is the core of the plot is it already gringe/uncomfortable for the viewers, bc of the reasons mentioned previously.

That is also a major thing in omegaverse (unfortunately). Omegas are seen as weak and desperate for an alpha, while alphas are arrogant rapists who see omegas as their property/ sex toy.

Even some actors who have played in omegaverse dramas have voiced their thoughts on the matter. Oat, the actor who plays Phatsa in Knot, has expressed his disgust (couldn't think of a nicer word) towards the omegaverse and got in trouble because of it.

Do they have a choice in accepting a role or do they have to do what the company tells them?

I thought actors have agents that discuss potential jobs and they can appect or decline. I've seen actors decline roles

I wonder if the omegaverse side was more prominent in the Pit Babe novel and if they toned it down so it would be easier to adapt for the screen.

What??? Why did he get in trouble? His thoughts are 100% valid. I always wondered how actors think when they receive such scripts, and honestly I would prefer for omegaverse to not become too common in dramas as well, dramas are usually more tame and that's for the best.

For me this sound quite odd, bc actors generally can and often will reject roles, even if contract wise the roles would pay well or have expected big audience. Though usually the management of actors should already know what roles to pitch for them and what not. At least in western entertainment industry it is pretty common for actors to have yes and no's of what they want to play on screen.

That being said, for actors who are just starting out there could be pressure to accept roles that they don't feel comfortable about, bc they need more popularity and there might be fear of not being offered something else if they refuse too many times. Sooo in case of Oat, well My Stubborn was his first very big BL, so I am just speculating could it have impacted his readiness to accept a role even if the concept wasn't appealing? As I said just speculating, and I think in general it should be an okay to an actor saying they don't approve something in real life, just bc they play it on a show. Similarly like someone playing a serial killer, should be able to freely say they think killing other ppl is always wrong.

So, as usual I found another Korean BL that looked interesting and started to watch it: Unintentional Love Story.

10 episodes later, here I am, a bit confused even though I liked both the series and the 2 couples. But as a big Korean straight RomCom watcher I had the strange feeling that everything looked like a classic romantic comedy, except that the fl had been replaced by a sweet and cut guy. Such a weird feeling.

First disappointment, the special episode is a 2h movie, which summarizes the series. No interest.

Then I wanted to watch the spin-off with the second couple, until I discovered I had watched it already. It's called The Time of Fever. I binge watched it quickly but I could remember it pretty well, so no big surprise.

I liked both, so it's a 8.5/10 for me.

Mira:
Honestly, I'm already sceptical seeing an omegaverse story being turned into a drama...I didn't like those dynamics much in the first place

we're the same, but ABO Desire changed my perception.

previously, i was glad that in pit babe, they didn't dwell much on it, and it just looked like a scifi instead of omegaverse.

Although omegaverse is definitely not my thing, I'm open to pretty much anything if it's really good. (For example, dark/supernatural isn't my usual comfort zone, but I loved "Wu".) I haven't yet watched "ABO Desire", but based on all the glowing reviews, it could potentially change my perception, too.

As for "Pit Babe", ditto what others are saying: The omegaverse elements were so limited and tangential that I don't even consider it as "omegaverse". (I know nothing about the book and what all was cut out, nor is this relevant to me.)

+++

Just now watching today's ep. 11 of "Love Class 3". Although the story/writing is weak, and although the language issue (as with other Korean-Thai crossovers) isn't handled particularly well, I'm enjoying it for the top-grade cutie-patooties, and I give credit to the first-time actors for doing a reasonably good job. It's also not much of a time investment.

Hubba hubba!

I see a newly posted Youtube trailer for "Water Boyy Drip", supposedly airing 17 July on a new Thai platform called "BloomHD". Not yet listed on MDL. No proper English subtitles, just auto-translate.

I have no idea if there will be English subtitles or if it'll be available on an international platform, but gosh, this trailer has me speechless (in a steamy-soft-porn-with-stunning-cuties kind of way).

From the trailer, I see no connection to the old GMMTV "Water Boyy" series other than the name.

@RXinw: This is definitely one for you.
@Art Girl: Cover your eyes, this is nothing for you.
