I see a newly posted Youtube trailer for "Water Boyy Drip", supposedly airing 17 July on a new Thai platform called "BloomHD". Not yet listed on MDL. No proper English subtitles, just auto-translate.

I have no idea if there will be English subtitles or if it'll be available on an international platform, but gosh, this trailer has me speechless (in a steamy-soft-porn-with-stunning-cuties kind of way).

From the trailer, I see no connection to the old GMMTV "Water Boyy" series other than the name.

Everyone talking about omegaverse here seems to not particularly enjoy the concept and that's understandable considering how it is usually depicted. But I thought I would offer my view as someone who absolutely loves it. As in I filter fandoms on AO3 particularly looking for them 😅

Reason 1: Porn, no denying that. I tread on the side of forbidden love or toxic relationships.

Reason 2: The non-toxic omegaverse. While a lot (a lot 🫠) are depicted as 'loss of control' and 'not consensual', that is the decision of each author. So, of course, some authors have chosen to not write those types of elements in. So yes, there are fully consensual, no toxic main characters, fully sweet and romantic omegaverse stories. There is even a published book by (forgive me if I mistake this) a male writer who wrote a omegaverse gay novel just like this. Now, this isn't the majority and usually only people who have tend to like omegaverse have seen them.

Reason 3: The study of ingrained patriarchal rule. I think most of us have heard of ingrained racism, well this is the same concept. I love how it brings to light my own or others very ingrained and personal biases on gender roles and very few concepts will highlight it as well as omegaverse will. I saw a comment on a clip of Phatsa's first fight scene and it said something like 'I thought he was the omega?' Did they think omegas couldn't fight? Why? It's those thoughts that fascinate/challenge my own reasonings.

I'm interested in the concept. Do you have any recommendations (manhuas or novels, maybe) ? I think I've only watched ABO Desire as a drama and read Love Shuttle as a manhua. I enjoyed both.

Btw, I finally had time last night to watch a few episodes of something. I ended up binging

I have a few published books but its been a while since I read them that I dont remember which ones were good or bad, toxic or green flag. But I can definitely message you the titles.

I'm more cautious about recommendations here because, since I like all concepts of the omegaverse, I don't separate them out from each other. And I don't want to be the reason you end up hating it. 😅

I'm okay with both toxic and green-flag stories. I'm pretty open to trying different omegaverse concepts because I'm really curious. Don't worry I won't end up hating it. 😆

I didn't know The Boy and I Who Will Break Up in 100 Days finished airing yesterday so I'm binge watching it right now. The first episode was so original ! The whole episode was filmed like a documentary. At first it felt weird but I slowly got used to it and ended up getting interested in the documentary itself not just the drama.

I'm on the opposite on this. In my drama update notes I wrote: Thank goodness this was short or I might have seriously considered dropping it. There was some moments I thought were really nice but overall it was just uninteresting. I do like that they part ways at the end.

The Boy and I Who Will Break Up in 100 Days : This isn't the kind of BL I usually watch. I normally go for lighter stories with plenty of comedy, but this drama takes a much more mature and serious approach. Even so, I found it incredibly engaging from beginning to end.

This drama has a slow and quiet pace, which I actually really enjoyed (I think it fits the concept really well). I especially loved the dialogues. So many of them made me stop and think, and I can definitely see myself rewatching this drama one day just for those conversations.

The characters were well written (with each episode I wanted to see more of their personalities), although I wish the writing had gone even deeper. I also think a few flashbacks would have fit naturally into the story and helped us understand the characters even better.

I often judge how invested I am in a drama by whether it makes me cry. If I'm emotionally invested, I cry. If I'm not, I don't. This drama definitely got me, because I cried a lot.

For the first five episodes, I was leaning toward an 8/10. Then came the final episode, which I thought was excellent, and it convinced me to raise my rating to 8.5/10.

ETA : I think I enjoyed it that much partly because I was in the right mindset for it. I was able to fully immerse myself in the story because I could actually concentrate, and I got to binge-watch it without any interruptions. Honestly, I don't think I would've enjoyed it as much if I'd had to watch it weekly.
