Now re-watching "My Other Half". I'm so happy that it's been re-released as a higher-quality contiguous 46-min. movie on Gaga (originally 29-ep. micro-series). I loved it back when it came out: cute as heck, and also cleverly constructed - although of course with a bit of the choppiness inherent to micro-series. Average MDL rating: 7.4 - in my opinion, somewhat underrated.
Usa Takuma has had a number of other BL roles. It's striking to me that I'm seeing more and more Japanese actors take on multiple BL roles, hopefully a sign of increasing acceptance - both within the Japanese industry and among the public-at-large - and thus that being associated with BL is not harmful to actors' careers.

someone mentioned that junior and mark cried at their concert (sorry, i have the memory of a goldfish lol) and i saw this
On p. 3115, I posted about the tsunami of JBLs and the nine (9) currently airing JBLs I'm currently following, which are:
"My Summer of You" (Gaga* / avg MDL rating 7.9)
"Servant Prince" (Gaga / 7.6)
"Duty First, Kiss Later” (Gaga / 7.8)
"Your Sky: Hare Nochi Koi" (Gaga / 7.5)
"Your Summer, My Storm" (Gaga / 7.8)
"Are the Sexy Buttocks Not Good?" (Gaga / 7.2)
"After Moving Seats, the Boy Behind Me Has a Crush on Me" (Gaga / 7.8)
"Baretara Owari" (Youtube / no MDL rating yet)
"Popular Serizawa Acts Weird Around Me" (Gaga / no MDL rating yet)
... plus five non-Japanese currently airing BLs for a total of 14.
One might well ask: Can I remember these from week to week without mixing them up?
If these were Thai BLs with huge casts, hour-long episodes and similar tropes, they might well blur together, but one of the things I like about JBLs is that they tend to be more unique and original. They also tend to have small casts, short episodes and relatively clean storylines that focus on the protagonists. Although some of these nine share certain tropes (especially loner/unpopular/nerd boy + ultra-popular boy), they're all pretty different in my mind.
So my answer is: Yes, I can separate them surprisingly well.
Few words about another two 'watch-on-the-bus' dramas:
A Sudden Kiss After the Night Shift eps 1-4
Short, simple and easy to watch. Two guards fall for each other during a night shift.
Please, Stop eps 1-6
Short, maybe too short. Younger brother falls in love with his straight older step-brother. The ending was a little weird. I don't know if it should be treated as an open ending, or sad ending, or bitter ending...
Why is it usually a Chinese or Taiwanese BL with the step brothers trope?

Knot ep 7
"Lubię zapach pomarańczy."
Nakhin and Ongsa's relationship stands in stark contrast to the main couple's relationship. Respect, commitment, love, admiration, understanding, communication, adoration... Nakhin knows how to treat his man right. He is firm in his decision to date Ongsa and not even his father can change his mind. Ongsa reciprocates his feelings, but is afraid Nakhin would have to sacrifice too much for him. They keep me invested. (I still don't know what Nakhin smells like. Does he smell like kumquats, tangerines or oranges?)
Nakhun and Phatsa are, well, there. Nakhun built 'the nest' for them (I've read quite a few omegaverse fanfics, but I never came across this term). Everyone thought Phatsa was pregnant, so they went for a check-up. It was a false alarm, of course (I don't know who thought it was a good idea to spoil this already in the trailer). The secret is out now, thanks to Ongsa. Everyone promised to keep it for themselves, but it won't be easy. Phatsa doesn't want to be seen solely through the prism of his secondary gender. He wants to be something more than a breeding omega for his father-in-law.
The father here and prince Vasin from TEoH are cut from the same cloth. This man cares only about his position, power and prestige, he doesn't give a fudge about his children's wants and needs. Their only goal in life should be serving their father's purpose and plan. He's still obsessed with a pure omega and he even got some info from the hospital. I've got a feeling Sangnuea will be confused with a pure omega.
We haven't seen him this episode, but we've seen Naphitch getting into trouble, again. This time he might actually be framed. I hope we'll find out in the next episode what had really happened that night at the bar.
What's my problem with Knot? The drama does a good job at explaining omegaverse to the viewers, I can't complain about that. Nor can I complain about Nakhin and Ongsa. The weakest link is the main couple. My favourite scenes with Phatsa are the ones where he acts like a badass pure omega that he is. Other times he's either gloomy or under influence. Nakhun is patient and caring, but neither him nor Phatsa make enough effort to get to know each other or to strengthen their relationship. It seems to me as if their relationship was based on pheromones and nothing else. Boat and Oat have got a good chemistry together, I've seen it before, but here it falls short somehow. It's so weird, because Nakhun and Phatsa talk with each other, but nothing substantial is being said. They don't know what the other one likes, dislikes, what is he passionate about, what makes him happy, nothing! They don't even go on dates. They just visit Ongsa's café to move the plot forward.
Since things are slow on the forum, I'll take this chance to overshare. I'm currently preparing my seminar on BL dramas and I might use some information gathered from this forum. Thank you for participating in my poll on page 3043; that provided me some useful data. Thank you also for sharing how you got into BL dramas. I find it super interesting to read other people's stories. There was a question about how you got into BLs before, asked by Unique_rain, and since I haven't answered it before, I'll just answer it now:
Unique_rain:
How did everyone get into bl and their first drama if they remember
(I'll be oversharing, so feel free to skip it)
Everything started in 2006, when I've finally got my PC connected to the Internet. That's when I started watching British and German soap operas for the language practice purpose. Hollyoaks, EastEnders, Verbotene Liebe, Alles was zählt - all of these had a M/M couple in them. Growing up in a conservative environment, my view of LGBTQ+ community wasn't very positive. Watching these couples on screen actually changed a lot.
In 2007 I discovered Asian dramas and films. Because of that I became friends with two of my besties (anything Asian back then was unpopular and strange, that's why we clicked instantly). One of them was a yaoist, so she introduced me to manga, anime and western films (Shelter, Latter Days, Queer as Folk etc.), and I introduced her to Asian films (Formula 17, Go Go G-boys etc.). You could say my love for Asian BLs started with films.
While I was watching dramas, in some of them M/M couples have appeared (Gloomy Salad Days, Hormones). So when in 2014 the first BL drama came out, Love Sick, I naturally started watching this too. This is how I started watching every BL drama that came out. Back then there weren't that many of them. I still remember those periods of 'BL drought', when we just waited for months for a new BL. It's funny, because nowadays it's exactly the opposite. So many BLs come out nowadays, there's no chance to watch them all. It's a curse of abundance 😱

Please do!
Regarding your seminar topic, another question I personally find interesting is the distribution of BL fans by gender and by sexual preference, along with their differing motivations. As a (mostly) gay male with a lifetime of experiences to relate to, I can certainly understand the "why" for my demographic - not only the cuties but also nice, feel-good, normalised love stories - but I've never felt that I am able to fully or viscerally grasp the appeal to the women, often very young, who are the vast majority of BL fandom.
Moreover, I can't help but wonder if there aren't also male BL viewers who don't identify as gay, and what's going through their heads. Are they curious/questioning? Or just more open-minded, as today's younger generation often is?
Anyways, you probably have quite enough already for your seminar, but if this elicits research or thoughtful insights from you or other group members, I'm interested.
Sweet, cute, Japanese high school BLs will be the death of me. I'm too weak against them 🫠
Popular Serizawa Acts Weird Around Me ep 1
"Wszystko się może zdarzyć, gdy głowa pełna marzeń."
Suzuki Hajime is a loner, no surprise here. He's also a fudanshi, who likes reading and writing BLs. It's his dirty, little secret. He was shunned by his classmates before, so he panics about Serizawa finding his notebook. For him, Serizawa is a perfect seme, so he uses him in his story. Fortunately for him, Serizawa is cool about. He sees himself as a seme as well, because he also likes BL. The only thing he's missing is a perfect uke, but guess what? I bet he just found himself one 😉
Of course, both boys are adorable, especially when they're together 😍 I already like F4 too, hopefully we'll see more of them in the future.
After Moving Seats, the Boy Behind Me Has a Crush on Me ep 1
"Bo ja pragnę Ciebie więcej, nie od dziś."
Oh my goodness, I love Asamiya. He clearly knows who he wants and he's just going for it. He's so bold, it's great to see. Mayama is just cute. Poor boy is so confused by Asamiya's sudden attentions. Mayama is, of course, a loner and Asamiya is a popular boy. I've seen these dynamics before, and yet they never get boring for some reason.
After Moving Seats, the Boy Behind Me Has a Crush on Me ep 2
"Let's get physical, physical."
Is it just me or is Asamiya strangely similar to Hira? I mean, the things he says: "When I die, please, put this in my coffin with me", "I'll treat this as a family heirloom", "I'd touch it everyday, if I could"... I love him 😁I swear, the word 'physical' in PE stands for 'physical attraction' 😉 I like Asamiya's friends, they remind me of Watarai's friends. I hate the fact that those bullies ruined Mayama's confidence. I hope he'll heal by Asamiya's side.
Seriously, how to apply to be a PE teacher in Japan?
I don't know was this already posted, but You Maniac trailer is out.
First impressions: I know a lot of ppl have been waiting for this bc it has Est and William, and while I like them on screen, but I am not 100% the plot is to my liking. Seems very chaotic based on the trailer. It could be ones the show starts airing that the plot holds together well, but I will put this on to my maybe list for now.

i didnt watch the trailer (as i often dont from thai production) but from the synopsis,
it's dean > moth (as a favor for a friend) < pun < ten
p43425:
nother question I personally find interesting is the distribution of BL fans by gender and by sexual preference, along with their differing motivations
I also think the demography of BL fans is a very interesting topic to explore, but at the moment I can rely only on data collected from my friends. It seems to me that every BL fan is a little different. Some prefer cute and sweet stories, some prefer those dark and toxic ones. For some the spicier the better and some avoid any NC scene.
Among the BL fans that I know personally, majority are GenZ women. High school experience in my days and now is different. When I was in high school everyone was 'straight' (or so it was believed). There was no sexual education whatsoever. No one talked about LGBTQ+ community, it wasn't in the mainstream. Young people nowadays are much more aware. I know high schoolers who are gay or trans. They're not afraid to be who they are and it seems there is more acceptance in the society now. There are different LGBTQ+ friendly actions and events at high schools. Shipping culture among young people is a part of the mainstream as well.
When I was a student at uni, on the history of literature classes, we've had a month dedicated to queer literature. During one of the classes we were watching My Beautiful Laundrette. Majority of male students looked uncomfortable, while only a few female students looked so as well. I think women in general are more empathetic and open-minded.
Coming back to the BL fans I know irl, some only like manga and anime BLs, but feel uneasy watching real actors. Some love BLs in any kind: manga, live action, fanfics etc. I don't know any straight men who watch BLs. I know three straight women, two bi women, one ace woman and two gay men. I doubt there was any research done among BL fans in Poland, since it's still a pretty conservative country and BL fans are mainly focused on manga, anime or danmei novels.

Ditto. That's why I'm watching so many at the same time: I can't say "no". Needless to say, "Hold On, Harutora-kun" (starting tomorrow on Viki and Gaga) will be an absolute must for me.
ZhouYanRan:
Good summary, but ...

... I don't understand this reference. Help?
ZhouYanRan:
After Moving Seats, the Boy Behind Me Has a Crush on Me
Good summary, but I would add one thing: The not-worthy element, i.e. Mamaya assuming that Asamiya can't possibly be interested in him in that way because he's so far out of his league. I think this is a good (realistic) psychological insight.
ZhouYanRan:
I like Asamiya's friends, they remind me of Watarai's friends.
Yes, my thoughts exactly.
ZhouYanRan:
Is it just me or is Asamiya strangely similar to Hira?
Nope, it's just you, haha.
