Here’s my thoughts on what I’ve watched recently.

First of all, thank you @ElementalStar for all your great comments. They’re really helpful. I was especially happy to hear what you had to say about Summertime. This show has been living rent free in my head lately, and I’ve been thinking about it more than almost any other show lately. I know a lot of people hated the ending, but the idea than Eunho woke from his dream with the confidence be himself and to face his future is exactly what the author said was the purpose of including the dream (whether or not you think that dream was brief or long.) And the more I think about it, the more I love the idea of being able to get a “second chance” to love more assuredly and to be yourself. It’s so hard to do that as a teenager, especially as a queer one. The reason this show resonated with me was because it captured the intensity of feelings that teenagers experience. It showed how feelings can be complicated for some but not for others, and sometimes it’s just that one person who is the center of your whole world. Also I liked the sexiness, the kissing, the NC scenes, because being young is about intense sexual desires too, at least for a lot of people. I think those scenes added to my understanding of their feelings. They also are a closer representation of how I felt during my early relationships. In any case, if you haven’t watched this show, don’t write it off. I thought it was really special. I will definitely be watching it again.

Your Sky: Hare no Chi Koi

I know some people said they liked this more than the original, but that was never going to happen for me. I adore the original and consider it the perfect comfort watch. It had the right balance of romance, sex, conflict, and progress for me. I also love the fake relationship trope.

The Japanese version was quite enjoyable though, until the last two episodes, especially the last episode. I felt like they were desperately trying to squeeze in all of the original story, and it didn’t work. It would have been better if they didn’t include the conflict with the dad, since there wasn’t time to develop or resolve it properly. That time would have been better spent on the second and third couples. Also, tacking on that NC scene at the end just didn’t work for me. In the original the sexual relationship progresses with the story, so an NC scene at the end fits. Sora and Hinata had much less of an intimate relationship from my point of view, and I just didn’t feel the chemistry in their NC scene. Plus it wasn’t well integrated into the story. In general, I wish Sora had shown more emotion as the story progressed. Hinata was adorable, and all the couples were attractive and cute together, but the show just didn’t make me feel like the original. I enjoyed watching it but don’t know if I will again. I gave it an 8.0.

FYI: the actor who plays Hinata is a member of DXteen, who sings the outro theme song for the Japanese Your Sky and the theme song for After Moving Seats. One of the friends in Seats is also from DXteen, as is one of the friends in Popular Serizawa.

I binge watched this last week. It was cute and sweet. It didn’t move me but I also didn’t have any real objections. I love Takara’s Treasure, so I was happy to see Konishi Eito again, but I really love Gennosuke, who was also in the vertical Dangerously Sweet. Konishi Eito is probably a better actor, but Gennosuke is lovely to look at. I enjoyed watching this. 8.0

Match Point

I wasn’t expecting much from this but PingTeshow were great together and the show was a fun watch. The dads got annoying after awhile but Teshow was so delightful, so that mostly made up for it. As a friend said, Teshow is so cute, I just want to put him in my pocket. That’s how I feel about the younger BL actors. I want to protect them and their innocence. Did you know this was Teshow’s first kiss?

The show ended well although I would have liked to see SingChimon officially together. Still, it worked overall as an enjoyable if not overly emotional watch. 8.5

Connecting to You

I really enjoyed this. Nice to see a different story of first love and human connection. Funny but not over the top, and sweet in the end. The special episode was an additional story rather than just cute filler. Also the little grandma was adorable and a great character. The police woman was all of us cheering for the main couple. I liked that everything was resolved but not perfectly, especially the family stuff, because families are hard and everything doesn’t always work out.

You Maniac episode 5

I love William Est, and I love FWB-to-lover’s trope, especially when the couple are lying to themselves about their feelings. So even if this show isn’t as “red flag” as it advertised, I don’t care. I’m still loving it. I was disappointed in the NC scene, though. I wanted more passion and more intimacy. They barely gave us anything. I would have preferred a sexier conversation than “what if I’m not as good as advertised?” As far as the second couple goes, I’m tired of waiting, and I want to see Pun find out who Ten is and not reject him. I also enjoyed the dating event with these four characters. It added some fun to the back and forth between them all.

We probably need to face facts and accept that this show is not quite what it set out to be. Nonetheless, I’m enjoying it. Also, I love Est’s lips. Lol. He’s just gorgeous and a good actor. As long as it stays interesting, I’m here for the ride.

I think GMMTV needs to take a cue from Mandee regarding NC scenes, though, because Mandee consistently delivers exactly what we want in that department. 😉

Mr. Fanboy episode 5

Still going strong. Auau Save have great chemistry. Ryunjin looks ready to stir the pot at every turn, but in a cute and mischievous way that I find adorabl, and James is killing it as the evil actor with a hidden agenda. I can’t wait for more.

The Missing Piece episodes 7 & 8

I’m really intrigued by this one, and enjoying watching the bits of information fall into place. I like the rich protector trope, and I think the couple have great chemistry. So far the story keeps getting more interesting.

Not Yours episode 1

This looks promising. Despite the annoying dubbing of Shogun’s voice and the obvious sets, the character set-up has me interested. I hope the power imbalances make for interesting interactions. Will this go dark? Or just leave us wanting more? I’m sat.

Oops! Mysterious Sounds episode 2

Better than the first episode, and Paul/Anda is lovely to look at, but I want more of the main couple. Namna is so gorgeous, I hope he sees he can succeed without getting his skin bleached. I know there is a lot of pressure to be pale as an actor in Thailand, but I’m always happy when we get a range of beauty. I’m looking forward to more JinnaPod, and also more of the mystery, but I still enjoyed this episode.

Police in Love ep3

I’m usually not a fan of comedy but this is so cute I can’t help myself. Plus YinWar add an extra layer of emotion that takes it beyond silly. A great way to end my Saturdays.

Flash Marriage to a Ghost vertical

On iQIYI this is listed as “Help, I Married a Ghost.” I mostly put this in the “so bad it’s good” category. It’s pretty campy. But I was actually invested by the end, despite the shaman’s terrible wig. Thanks @ElementalStar for the recommendation. Totally worth an hour or two of my time. Really fun and strangely addictive.

ok, enough reviews for now. I need to make dinner.

I haven't been watching any of the other titles but 4 are on my PTW waiting patiently for me to have the time.

Hey u changed ur name! Whatever happened to ur pf page?!? I hope ur doing well.

I'm extra slow on watching BLs these days. Partly busy, partly feeling down and maybe burnt out. Not sure if it applies to just dramas or life in general. My mind is all over the place. I haven't been able to focus on any one drama. I keep starting a new title then ditch it and move on to the next one. Then repeat.

If I keep it up I might get through my PTW list sooner than later. 😮🤣
