The only thing I'd add is the pressure and expectations from the agency/company.

Yes, fr!

i'm on ep 8 of last oath and i can't believe i'm seeing cannibals :-o this is one "genre" i cant watch though it makes sense to be included in a zombie apocalypse

I haven’t watched the last episode of Serizawa, but I don’t think I could like it better than School Trip s1. I’ve enjoyed Serizawa, but Suzuki’s total cluelessness did annoy me at times. It was just a little too much for me. Usually I love anything meta, like Serizawa being like the character in Suzuki’s novel, but the show leaned more into the cuteness than the tribute to BL fans, at least from how I saw it.

You're always so good at focusing your thoughts and putting them into words, which isn't easy. 👍

As I said: My preference is admittedly more visceral than rational, so I don't disagree with anything you're saying (especially Suzuki's overly drawn-out cluelessness - although I think that's actually more an expression of his inferiority complex).

Tiffany:

I haven't watched the last two episodes of Serizawa yet, but for now, School Trip is still ahead. Maybe it's because I was less busy when it came out

Yes, you're so right: External factors (including my mood) can significantly influence my feelings about whatever I'm watching. I can also be influenced quite a bit by my pre-existing attachments to certain actors, or conversely by my fascination with a cute new face.

OK ... I had been planning to wait a week or two before starting on "School Trip S2", but this discussion has refreshed my delightful memories of S1. Now watching the first episode!

Yeah, I was considering that, but it's still pretty fresh in my mind, especially after this discussion.

Now also watching episode 3 of "Ao to Midori", which is really good (especially the two lead actors) but sadly not yet on an international platform.

As a JBL, it goes without saying that the story centres around Japanese failure to communicate coupled with excessive politeness (total opposite of the usual directness/bluntness here in Germany!).

Art Girl and I were talking a few months ago about how strange it is that Japanese can't just respond to a confession with the (to us) obvious "Sorry, I just don't have feelings for you" rather than the obligatory "Sorry, there is someone else that I like" - but I subsequently realised why: It's the deeply rooted cultural tradition of sparing the other's feelings and not wanting to make them uncomfortable.

Just after finishing Serizawa I will rewatch the first season of School Trip or at least some scenes. I prefer to watch the s2 weekly as I did for the first season.

I will keep this one in mind.

Teach Me, Touch Me ep 2

I'm still maybe not 100% sold on the overall plot for this one, but for a mafia pair FortPeat I might just want to keep up. I feel that for opening two episodes the themes have been quite heavy, first one with Gear getting humiliated by his ex and his ex's current bf and now Kanthi dealing with the emotions his mother's death has left to him. Was not maybe how I expected a show focused on teaching someone how to have sex to start out, but maybe it will get little lighter as the plot progresses.

Serizawa : I really enjoyed it ! It was cute, and I loved the group of friends. All their meetings at Banana Lake were so funny 😂

Suzuki was just a bit too oblivious for me, but I understand that it came from his very low self-esteem. I would have loved to see him gain more and more confidence as the story went on. 8.5/10

Rewatching School Trip season 1 before season 2 was a good call ! It's such a high-value rewatch. It also made me realize that I hadn't watched the special episodes, so I got not just one but three new episodes to watch ! 😍

After only one episode, I must say that I'll probably enjoy the second season as much as the first one. And Hioki's friend Tsujitani is hilarious, I love him ! 😂

Just watched the first episode of "You Should Be the One to Kiss Me" (office JBL on Gaga). In addition to the story (crush on ostensibly straight guy, i.e. unrequited love), I'm also interested because of the familiar lead actors (respectively Aida from "My Love Mix-up" and Tenma from "Cosmetic Playlover" among other roles).

Anyways, so far it's reasonably promising.

Interesting casting ! I’ll probably add it to my December list 😁

I need non-BL help. I’m going out-of-town next week with just my mom and I want to pick something to watch with her. She loves kdramas but not BLs. She doesn’t especially love romance, more slice of life. She doesn’t like anything supernatural, so no time travel. She says her favorite kdramas are My Mister (2018) and Prison Playbook (2017). She’s only watched one cdrama, Pursuit of Jade (2026), which she loved.

The problem is we only have Viki on the TV there, and no Netflix. Can anyone recommend a few dramas on Viki that are slice of life or maybe romance with a strong female lead? Everything I come up with is on Netflix. Also please tell me if it’s funny or serious or melodramatic.

Thanks!

1000096377.jpegHere’s EarthMix from their new photobook (I think), for BL tax,

I finished Boy, With Caution but I need some time to think about it before I post a review.

Ok I’m going to watch this now. Preparing myself.
