I need non-BL help. I’m going out-of-town next week with just my mom and I want to pick something to watch with her. She loves kdramas but not BLs. She doesn’t especially love romance, more slice of life. She doesn’t like anything supernatural, so no time travel. She says her favorite kdramas are My Mister (2018) and Prison Playbook (2017). She’s only watched one cdrama, Pursuit of Jade (2026), which she loved.

The problem is we only have Viki on the TV there, and no Netflix. Can anyone recommend a few dramas on Viki that are slice of life or maybe romance with a strong female lead? Everything I come up with is on Netflix. Also please tell me if it’s funny or serious or melodramatic.

Thanks!

1000096377.jpegHere’s EarthMix from their new photobook (I think), for BL tax,

I'm not sure if these are in Viki

  • We Are All Trying Here -- it's too serious for me so I dropped it, but it's a slice of working life

  • The Ordinary Jackpot -- 11/10 for me, abt corporate life

  • A Bona Fide Killer -- another 11/10 for me, abt a plain housewife and an ace killer

  • Apartment Job -- comedy + some action

  • Teach You A Lesson -- another 11/10 for me, abt school buillying

  • Agent Kim Reactivated -- drama action, with some comedy and with some AI use

EarthMix looks hawt

good news for a change

O.M.G. I didn't see this coming. 🙀

This makes up for the bad news earlier! I'm so happy for them!! 💕

True. I can see speculations but didn't pay much attention to it, until an official announcement =D

I don't see this on GMMTV's IG webpage. Can I ask where you got the news from?

Finally bit the bullet and bought an IQYI subscription and it was one of the best decisions I've made! Getting through the last few episodes of Duang with You now

Then I'll be starting Me and Thee. Also watching Teach Me, Touch Me

Definitely worth it!

Thanks for the show recommendations!

When I get a chance I’ll post more EarthMix in the Boy’s Love group photo feed.

Insta poster Industryb.b says both Billionaire Biker & How To Survive My CEO are both canceled. Both pilots on YT have been removed.

I think the Pond Phuwin message is likely fake. I found what I think could be the org poster and I can see "AI content" flash rotating with "Made with edits" at the top.

There are a lot of great historicals on Viki. Here's a few I've seen and love.

Are You the One (romance - one of my fav couple relationships of any drama)
Knight Flower (shortest drama on this list, mystery, romance, comedy, badass female lead)
The Prisoner of Beauty (smart FL, romance, politics. I couldn't stop watching this one)

Both of these titles could be considered slice-of-life. Both in my top favs.

Five Enough (romance, comedy, melodrama, blended family - 54 eps though)
You Are My Lover Friend (I loved just about every side character, great main couple, best story of friends to lovers I've watched) Might feel slow for some.

Great suspense, politics, romance and action. It's old (2012) but really good.

The King 2 Hearts

I checked and all these are on Viki.

I might as well keep going with the spamming...

Weirdo-101 EP 1-3

My first BL in a while, other than weekly eps of Mr. Fanboy. I don't have an opinion yet, which means its not bad and its not great. I'll keep watching. 🤷🏻‍♀️😆

Cleaning up my watching and plan to watch list cause it hasn't been updated fully in a while lol

Thanks for the recommendations! I’ll watch them myself even if I don’t get a chance with my mom! My PTW is at 700 something, though, so it might take awhile. Lol.

I have been watching Weirdo and I like it. I also watched 1-3. I don’t think it’s amazing or anything, but it captures some aspects of being young very well. It does seem monumental as a teenager whether to continue a sport or art you have devoted your life to. I was a ballet dancer and I quit my 3 hours a day of classes at 17 to have more time for studying—and because I couldn’t go any further as a dancer. Keen’s character is facing this dilemma with judo, and I love how Sea’s character just tries to keep him company, listen to him, and show that he’s concerned. Sometimes this makes all the difference. I’m just watching an episode a day, because it’s a little slow, but it’s a nice comforting story to watch before bed.

I hope you are able to enjoy it.
