I have read the novels and enjoyed the original series; however, for me "Stay With Me" is an outstanding adaptation in that although it doesn't follow its predecessor in terms of toxic content, it is still exceptionally well crafted in terms of production, storyline, acting and overall feel.

I agree! My eyes especially widened when Wu Bi's dad found the tube of lube on his bed. How on Earth did that pass the censors???
It was such a non-event, a blink and you would miss it scene. Only those 'in the know' would work out that it's not lip balm as Wu Bi asserted and even put some on his dad's lips. "Luckily it's an English brand".

I happened to be drinking juice during this scene and after seeing this scene I spat myself out laughing.

There were many more such moments there, I won't even mention the seemingly innocent kisses, but above all the suggestions by some acquaintances that their relationship was not platonic plus the novella, no doubt BL, that Duo had read and the imaginings of the owner of that novella about Wu Bi and Su Yu as a couple in love.

I don't disagree with you, i.e. neither the story nor the acting was really "wow" - but nevertheless, I really liked the series! Aside from the nasty school bullying in the first episodes, it's mostly a gentle, feel-good kind of series with a simple story but also a quite a lot of real character development, especially in Tae Seong. And by Korean standards there's quite a bit of kissing and even a shower scene, hubba hubba!

if it was just that! The show was filled with innuendos hinting at the fact that the two are absolutely not just "brothers"
from my understanding and what i have read elsewhere (might be wrong though), the series didn't air in China, which made the censorship rules a bit more loose. They still couldn't say "the two are a couple" but it left a lot more room for the not so subtle hints about their relationship.
Let's talk about Once Again 2022 a time travel BL series. Get a box of tissues out. It's a loved it or hated it IMO.
Loved. No. 2 of the 2022 K-BL dramas for me. Have the soundtrack and it's playing right now as I read "Who Can Define Popularity".
