Are you satisfied with iQIYI as a technical platform and especially with the English subtitles?
The subtitles are generally not as good as Viki, or GagaOoLala, IMO. They can be really hit or miss and, sometimes the English typos and grammatical errors can be significant. Though it's not as bad as WETv can be.
The other issue is that sometimes when Viki takes over a programme, they use the subtitles from the original platform, which is unfortunate as Viki's volunteer translators do extra in that they often include cultural contexts and notes and they always translate texts (phone messages, letters) whereas other platforms don't.

Are the "uncut" versions really uncut/uncensored, despite this being a Chinese platform?
Yes. But it is very regionally dependent. I've recently learned that Chinese censorship is much more lax if the content is released only for overseas audiences.

p43425:
e will eventually find their way to Viki and/or Gagaoolala in full, uncut form
There is really no way of telling if they will make their way to other platforms. We are generally not privy to contracts for distribution, etc. You can only hope.

Any other brilliant wisdom or insights on this?
Two options to consider:
- Find BL communities who hold stream parties, so you can watch online as they watch. Often, communities hold stream parties for older BL just to have people to share the fun with.
- Find a fellow BL lover and pool your subscriptions. I've done this for other things, and now for BL, too. This may require a VPN so you can watch in other countries. Since some services allow download to your device (within the service), you can watch at a time you want to watch.
I hope you find a satisfactory solution to your dilemma.
