Chun Mo Rionnag:

Cute fact: That was Li Zhen Hao's first kiss on screen and in real life. Well, technically second because he had one practice kiss with Shen Jyun just before filming that scene for which they were told off by the director.

(re "About Youth") "That scene" was nonetheless fantastic and incredibly genuine. The director needn't have worried.

By the way, now that "Grand Guignol" is out on Gagaoolala, I've decided to watch it after all - first, because I can't resist Sota Ryosuke, and second, because sometimes (if I'm in the right mood) I have a pervy taste for violence. (I just watched "Playboy and the Gang of Cherry" before it leaves Gagaoolala, and I liked it. It is very extreme. I do not recommend it to others unless you know what you're getting yourself into.)

And did you like Grand Guignol? becuase I  thought it was a really horrible movie, yet it seems that some people liked it and I have no idea how 😅

 Chun Mo Rionnag:

Afraid not. It's a gore fest, rather than a scare fest. That said, it's a bit laughable in its extremes. A bit tasteless, too. One scene in particular gave off seriously bad energy almost making me ill but not because of any violence or gore, rather it was the disparity (age, build) in the two characters within the scene. I am referring to the scene in which the man with the long grey hair has the young prankster under a spell. It reeked of something truly sickening to me.

Worth watching once, I suppose.

Mitzi, I haven't watched "Grand Guignol" yet, but here are Chun Mo's comments from a few weeks ago. That's why I mentioned it to him again now.

Sorry, my bad! tbh ,unlike Chun Mo, I wouldn't recommend this movie to anyone.

I haven't recommended it to anyone. I just stated it had been uploaded to an official website for those who wanted to watch without using pirate sites. Not sure where in my comments about the film could be construed as a recommendation.

I appreciate your vast and amazing knowledge of BL !!!

oh sorry, I thought "Worth watching once, I suppose" was a recommendation, sorry if I understood you wrong. And any one has the right to recommend whatever they want, so it wasn't a comment against you. I just recommended not to watch it.

I watched two and a half episodes of Moonlight Chicken and sorry to say I'll have to drop it for now. For some reason I'm not making a connection to the story or the actors. For me, there's also this overall feeling of depression and doom I can't get passed, and throw in a little boredom and slowness to the plot and it's not adding up to a good watch. Maybe at another time.

As the old saying goes, "That's why they make chocolate and vanilla."

appreciate the fact that you don't fall for the social pressure to watch that honestly

I'll shut up about it. Sorry.

@p43425 - Right?  :-)

@Karina Zhan - Yeah, I'm not much of a follower, not blindly anyway.  :-)  :-)

@Elisheva - No need to be quiet about what you like and want to share.  :-)

My smiley emojis aren't working here. Seems like they don't most of the time on MDL. :-(

I feel you, there are a lot of popular series that I personally don't like.

As for Moonlight Chicken I have yet to watch it so I have no views on it yet, school has been fighting against my watchlist for months now because how long now has it been since its release 😭

(Sorry, I quoted a quote. The above quote was from Chun Mo Rionnag, not me.)

So, I watched "Grand Guignol". As you said, it's a gore fest that's so extreme as to be almost like a parody of a slasher movie - except, of course, that's not the point of the "Grand Guignol" premise. Anyways, it's quite impressive how much blood splatter and bodily mutilation they managed to pack into an hour and 23 minutes. With all that, who needs such trivialities as coherant plot and character development? I'm not even sure why they put in the BL scenes, which were rather incidental - or maybe it was just to add a different dimension of cheap sensationalism? (Warning: Do not watch this unless you know what you're getting yourself into.)

On the other hand, it's got a pretty good cast, including three familiar BL actors - and my beloved Sota Ryosuke looks so cute dressed as a maid! (His boyfriend in the photo below is played by Nakao Masaki, who you may recognise as the idol protagonist from "Kabe Koji" - he looks very different here without the blond hair. By the way, if you haven't seen "Kabe Koji", I thought it was pretty good, and much more than just the silly comedy that it seems at first.)
