darkstar:

There are many.  Some examples are Crash Landing on You, Bloody Romance, Eternal Love, Rookie Historian, and several others.   The MP3 files available online are not nearly good as CDs.

Which stores sell those disks?

So I've not used the following but I know the top one has some pretty good reviews on reddit:

I've used Prestomusic.com Personally, I've only used it for digital downloads but I know they also do CDs.

Major retailers, book stores, and tech stores will often have a CD section. You might need to get a specific CD requested to your local location though. This is what I would recommend. If you go CD thrifting you'll sometimes find soundtracks that way, but that's obviously going to be hit or miss and requires you enjoying the process of thrifting itself, which is much more fun if you live in/near a city. (Recently went thrifting and found the Chicago soundtrack on CD!) You can also check your local library. They will sometimes have soundtrack CDs, and if they don't you can also request that they purchase one for you to check out.

For some reason I always have a hard time finding CD retailers for Chinese dramas. Japanese retailers are usually pretty easy to find instead, but the problem is not all of them will ship outside of Japan. For cdramas you might be better off buying off ebay or finding a courier who will ship it out to you. There are some couriers that can be found on etsy or specialty websites. Tumblr has some pockets of courier networks for K-anime but that's about as much as I know in that regard.

Just watch out for resellers who are trying to charge $200USD for stuff. Those are no good.

So like I said earlier, I recently went thrifting for CDs and found some stuff I'd never heard of before. Picked up a copy of The Last Emperor's OST, which is funny because I haven't actually watched the movie. Finally put it in my disc player just now and realized the composer was Ryuichi Sakamoto. Had no clue! Never know what you'll find while thrifting.

So exciting that there's a group of other folks who also love OSTs! I'd love to join.

I usually end up getting a specific song stuck in my head while watching a show, look it up, and then listen over and over.  Here are my current top 3:

  1. When I saw you - Korean Odyssey
  2. Like a Mosquito - Master's Sun/Secret Garden - Secret Garden (tie)
  3. I got ya - Sell your haunted house

I listen to a lot of scores & soundtracks from non-MDL media, too. Here's a few bonus faves:

  1. Solar Sailer - Tron: Legacy
  2. Subah Hone Na De - Desi Boyz
  3. La valse d'Amelie - Amelie

...now it looks like I have lots of pages of music recommendations to go discover... 🎧😄

Thanks a lot!  I'll take a look at the links you sent.   I live in the US and at least around here I do not see anyone selling these soundtracks CDs.   Therefore, it seems my only options are online.

I thought about physical stores in Beijing because some friends are traveling there and I thought about ask them to take a look for me.

Doing alright. Been going through some music on an old hard drive of mine. Fun to see the stuff I used to listen to. Only trouble is a lot of the files have incomplete data (missing album title or something like that) so im slowly cleaning up the files as well. But it's pretty nice to have music offline again. How've you been?

I get it, digging through old music is like uncovering a time capsule of your past self.  It's great that you're rediscovering your offline music library! I have never experienced having a hard drive for music but I believe there's something special about having to compile them, isn't there? No buffering, no internet connection needed – just pure, nostalgic feeling from (almost forgotten) music.

Welcome~~~ I hope you enjoy being here!
Cheers to more songs to be stuck in your head for you to discover <3

I love that we all can comfortably share more of Non-MDL related OSTs here. Actually, I recently completed a German series, "Dark" (a great mind-bending series btw) and still couldn't get enough of the OST by Agnes Obel.

I heard she basically used a technique to pitch her vocals down to cause the effect of a duet, even though it's all her own vocals. Artists like her always finding ways to be creative is a real gem in the world of music!

Oh if thats the case sometimes Barnes and Nobles, Target, Walmart etc   then, even if not locally. But if you go to their store or ask a retailer, they can order it from their warehouse or something idk how they do it.  Or at least thats what i was going to say but it seems like they only carry western, anime, and game soundtracks T_T

Asking your traveling friends is probably your best bet! It'll probably help to give them screenshots they can show the retailer there.

My new obsession - the outro OST from Top Form

Love in the Moon Light Ost have many songs that are really lovely but Moonlight Drawn by Clouds (Gummy) was my favorite from this drama

This is a beautiful cover by Marianne Topacio that I just loved over the official music video.  She really captures the beautiful and romantic cinematogrphy of the scenes from the drama with her video.
