Watched 5 episodes of Futari Escape (1 more from where I dropped it) and let me tell you: it's not so bad.
They seem more like friends than girlfriends though and that bothers me. Plus, episode 4 was a disaster. I didn't like the plot for that one. Episode 5 is better. I believe they drank alcohol in each of the episodes so far, that can't be healthy. And they have the habit of sleeping outside, in the car, or in any case, not in their own home (they live together). The actresses are cute though, especially the actress who plays the Senpai. Odd show, they're only the two of them, Senpai and Kouhai. No other characters.
I'll probably end up giving it an 8, but it depends on the second half a lot.
As far as I know, they removed the sapphic aspect in the LA which was there in the manga. I have it downloaded from DO but yet to watch.

That's quite stupid! How are they marketing this? As friendship? I don't know if now I should read the manga to find out the real story. I told myself no anime/manga so yeah
It's on Drama-Otaku but you need to apply for an account. They opened applications in fall 2025 so I was able to get in. :)

So is Stranger Things worth it? There's a lot of hype about it but I'm not interested in watching. The last thing I watched from the west was Man of Steel movie lol and that's because I have seen an edit on Youtube by accident.
Dark sounds good although I'm not a fan of sci-fi. Is it with aliens? Is it scary?
I really should branch out to other countries soon. Already made up my mind to watch some Vietnamese GL and other series. We'll see how my time permits this. Also, I could totally watch Romanian movies. It's my native tongue so I don't really need subtitles although I get the feeling I wouldn't understand everything anyway. Having subtitles has reduced my ability to work for the audio, to understand it. idk
Stranger Things is absolutely not worth it. I was having issues with it S3 onward but S5 absolutely tanked the entire show down the drain because it was such a disappointing final season. I feel like I wasted a decade of being invested in this show for no goddamn reason.
Dark is fantastic! Though at times hard to follow because there's so many characters and things going on. There's no aliens. I wouldn't say it's particularly scary? It's a show that starts out in a small German town where a boy goes missing and soon after, the body of a another missing boy from 20ish years ago shows up except with no signs of having been aged whatsoever. From there it evolves into this huge sprawling time-travel story spanning centuries and a dozen characters who are all in their own way trying to 'fix' things. The best thing about Dark is that it's so well-written. The overarching story was already written out back when the first season was being produced/airing and there's such good attention to detail, it's so fun to chew on because you've got the relief of knowing that analyzing the show will actually get you somewhere and you're not just overthinking.

Yeah, it's only the two of them. Maybe that's why the show is called "Futari (Escape)" too.
There are some kids that appear at some point and a cat. But no important side characters so far.
The best thing about Dark is that it's so well-written.

During the second half of December 2025 I got a lot of Spotify ads for Stranger Things and I thought it's not such a good story based on those ads alone.
Anyway, I haven't seen a western movie since last year (in November? or so) and it's been even longer since I watched a western series. I'm all about the MDL countries now. Except now I don't watch C-dramas anymore (unless they're BL/GL) for 2 reasons: CCP propaganda in the shows and the fact they banned LGBT media. These two issues aren't gonna be solved soon (or ever?) so I'm just chilling. I wasn't watching C-dramas anyway, so this is fine, as a watch rule.
Speaking of GL, tomorrow I'll try to finish Futari Escape and then go for something else. Unless I also finish the two BLs I started today (taken from my dropped list lol). I decided on another thing: no drop rule for BL and GL. That is, I won't drop any BL and GL series I start watching. The reason is simple: I want to watch (almost) all of them eventually and while some might be better/worse than others, there are so few BL/GL titles that we kinda have slim pickings still. No point in dropping them if there aren't many in the first place. (Compared to het titles that is).

ah that's completely understandable. FreenBecky have great chemistry together. It's also the first full-length GL series and for that alone, deserves to be watched. It's too bad I kept falling asleep after episodes 2-3. I guess I just need to sleep well during the night and start in the morning, when energy is at an all time high. lol
