If someone here is old enough to remember a time when there  were many Taiwanese dramas. So interesting stoty lines with romance plots. What changed, that most of Taiwan dramas that come out now are BL.

I wondered too!! I stopped watching Tdrama way back into the 2019 last drama I watched was ' Before We Got Married ' I guess I couldn't find any more drama that sparked my interest. After I learned more actors moved into cdama, I moved and never looked back. My yearly watched used to be Love, Now and Love Around I love both actors that came in the drama and later on I learned they got engaged and then got married, I was very happy for them.

Exactly same here, my last Taiwan drama was Before We Got Married .  I wonder if there is any geo political conflict. But lots of changes after the pandemic

Where are you looking?

I did an MDL search for Taiwan dramas 2025-2026, excluding 'gay romance' and 'LGBTQ+' and it returned around 34 completed titles (and two 1-episode specials I didn't count), 5 on-going and 2 upcoming. And then with those two tags - 7 completed, 1 on-going, 2 upcoming,

34 to 7 goes against your premise. The rest looks more like a bottleneck for upcoming titles not being brought into the MDL database, especially given the eagerness of BL fans for new material. They're usually all over things like that.

I watch primarily Thai, so I see "it's all BL/GL" complaints from time to time. But that's truly not the case. Maybe you just need to change where you're looking?

My main source is MDL. It is a very detailed database for drama fans, I saw none yet close to this.

 Rizhu:
It is a very detailed database for drama fans,

LOL. Yes, I know. I'm replying on the site and just told you about two searches I did here. Really don't know how MDL is showing you that most of Taiwan's new dramas are BL.

What are you using for your search?

While that's true Taiwanese dramas are losing its charms so that the subtitles are sometimes unavailable, there's some interesting dramas airing in 2025; Jasper Liu's Oops! I'm in Jail, Vic Zhou's The World Between Us S2, Tseng Jing Hua's Had I Not Seen the Sun, and Wallace Huo's Forget You Not. Though I probably will only watch the first and the last drama this year. I'm also considering watching Vivian Sung's Adrift in Love. Chen Bo Lin's Breeze by the Sea also got my attention because it's a Korean remake. But it might be a boring one, should I watch it or not? The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly looked promising since the main couple got married in real life, but I don't know any of them (I feel unsafe), but it's on iQIYI. I'm considering watching it too. The first title got 7.8 douban score, the second got 8.4 douban score, and the last one got 8.3 douban score. Tseng Jing Hua' dramas got low score unfortunately, but my, that's totally my cup of tea; all that misery and falling in love with pitiful male lead. You can check them out. This month, I completed Joe Cheng's Living, it got 8.7 douban score. Got my attention. You can check it out.

For 2026, there's Fandy Fan's airing drama Haunted House Secret (but I can't find subtitle) and upcoming Ko Chen Tung's drama Agent from Above that looks interesting.

As compared to 2024 Taiwanese BLs, 2025 Taiwanese BLs were uninteresting imo. I only watched 1 fluffy Taiwanese BL in 2025 while I watched 7 titles in 2024 (but 2 were shorts and 1 was clickbaiting movie). Give me some worth-to-watch Taiwanese BLs, please.
